I love bringing my daughter to this location. She loves art and we always find creative things to do at the studio. The people that work there always help us create a beautiful masterpiece. I also bring my mother-in-law and she enjoys spending time with her granddaughter, while she paints. Parking is easy. They have lots of ceramics and painting to choose from and it's a wonderful place to drop in and do some thing different with your children. This was such a cute play date for the girls!! By girls I mean me and my 25 year old friends. We made a reservation and got equipped with colors which you are limited to 5 colors and you choose your ceramic. The ceramics are a bit expensive at $35 for a small heart shaped jar but they do kiln it for you and provide the colors. They call you when it is ready to pick up and ours took around 2 weeks to get back. Overall, I enjoyed this place the ambience is non existent but it's such a fun activity to get to bond and craft with your friends. read more

My son recently completed an after school session and he absolutely loved it. The male teacher (can't remember his name) was wonderful and has the perfect calm and positive demeanor for working with kids. My son is 5 and was engaged and excited for every class. It was the perfect positive exposure to art and gave him something constructive to do after school. Today a very unfortunate event occurred with "Ms. Alex". My daughter was in art class this morning and had an accident; she dropped some paint on the floor. Ms. Alex was mean and rude to the point where my little girl ran to hide in the restroom to cry. (I'm aware kids can misinterpret things so I asked other children and they all said the same thing. "Ms. Alex was upset and raised her voice at her.") The "teacher" did not handle the situation well. She embarrassed my little girl in front of the class. To make matters worse, she made me feel like I'm raising farm animals and not children. This is how she ended the conversation... "Just because it is art doesn't mean she needs to make a mess." "You can get a refund." My kids are very well mannered and follow directions. Ms. Alex should retire from teaching children. She obviously can not handle it. Not once did she apologize for making my daughter cry. You can tell the kids were right. She definitely did not handle our conversation well. Ms. Alex was defensive and arrogant. I've been here three times so far & always had such a fun time painting. I've done a Halloween Pumpkin, a Great White Shark, & a Sugar Skull. The staff (Albert & Alexandra) are super friendly & helpful. This is a great place to go relax, take a date, have a family outing, celebrate a birthday party or other group event. How it Works: You come in, choose what you want to paint, they help you setup your paint, give you brushes, & all the tools you will need. If you chose a ceramic piece, you will need to put on several coats of paint. My sugar skull took five hours to finish painting, but I'm a perfectionist. I was able to do the Great White Shark in just under two hours. You can do it faster, but it will not come out as nice if you rush the process. The key is in applying multiple coats & letting each coat dry properly before starting the next. They have hair dryers to assist in speeding up the drying process. Once your work of art is completed, they will glaze it, & then fire it in the kiln. This process takes almost a full week so advise any children or millenials you are taking, that they will not have the instant gratification of bringing their new art project home the same day. Once your piece is ready, they will call to let you know so you can come pick it up. Cost: For the entertainment alone, it's money well spent. Your ceramic of choice will vary in cost depending on size, but it is an all inclusive price, so there are no add-ons or extra fees to pay. The cost includes your ceramic, the use of their paint & brushes, glazing, & firing. Expect to pay around $20-$50+ each depending on the ceramic you choose to paint. The experience is worth every penny in my honest opinion. There are other non-ceramic related things to paint as well. The Setup: There are two large rooms, each with several tables. The room in the back is sometimes utilized for parties or large groups. There is music, the place is clean, the staff is friendly & helpful. Would I return for a 4th visit? This place is a gem. We had our daughter's 7th birthday here. We can honestly say, it was the best party location thus far. The most incredible part about having it here was that it was simple. The owner and staff made it easy for us and was every accommodating. Parking is tricky during the weekends (but not the stores fault). Just give yourself enough time. Do not bring your kids to art camp at this location. The owner raised her voice and berated a 6 year old child because she dropped her paint. I held my daughter's 6th birthday party this weekend at the studio. My daughter chose to paint pottery with her friends, a small group of 9 girls. There were many pieces to choose from, something for everyone. All supplies were provided. Alex and her staff were great. They helped with the set up, were great at directing the party, and helped with the break down/clean up. We were in and out in 2 hours. Everyone had so much fun, moms included. I've now been to Art Thyme twice this month for my girlfriends birthday and my sisters 30th birthday celebration. I love that this art studio also caters to us adults! We were able to reserve the back room. We decorated the area, brought some snacks to munch on as well as some wine to sip on . We had such a great time painting and drinking. My kids love this place! For them, there is nothing better than creating a little masterpiece that they have lovingly picked out and painted. We have been a few times, but we don't go as often as we would like to as it is very expensive, at least for our budget.
