As I had to wait, I really appreciated the K-cup coffee and Wi-Fi access, along with great conversations with Mark at the desk. I had the great pleasure of working with Nick, the technician, who looked over the car and informed me the required labor and parts would be much less than what I was previously quoted--as I had suspected. Accordingly, I approved the work, and Nick completed the repair and provided the inspection stickers in a very timely manner. My experience with Jim's Berwyn Sunoco was superb. Nick is very professional and informative, and he made me feel very confident he possesses excellent technical skills. Further assurance is provided by knowing that Jim's is a member of the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating, and that Jim's has received a grade of A by members of Angie's list. When the car was lifted, a large bolt was lodged in the tire. Outside the bay door, the mechanic told me he had run over something while operating my vehicle. The front-desk employee, Marty, initially said I would need to pay for a replacement tire. After we argued, he told me to take my car to the Firestone down the street if I didn't want to pay. I explained what the mechanic had told me, and the shop ultimately replaced the tire at no cost. I appreciate that the tire was replaced for free, but resolving the issue was stressful and took more discussion than I expected. Based on my experience, I'd like to see the location handle customer concerns more constructively. "UPDATE: It gets even worse. I checked the official Retail Work Order (#174465) that they emailed to me. Even though Marty verbally told me the tire would be completely free to fix their mistake, the paperwork shows they secretly snuck in a charge for $184.52 with absolutely no discount applied. This shop is completely dishonest and uses deceptive billing tricks. Check every single line of your paperwork!

I used Jim (both in Berwyn and in Strafford) for over 10 years and found him and his son to be fair and honest in taking care of my vehicles. There are plenty of folks out there who will try to run up the bill by suggesting work that, even if it might be a good idea, just isn't necessary at the moment. Jim never does that - he will tell you what you need to have done, let you know what impacts the safety of your car or truck, what should be done now (or soon) to avoid future costs, and what, although a nice thing to do, is not really needed. With his help, I was able to get my last three vehicles to last each over 10 years with minimal cost and, when I needed to finally get rid of them, before doing the repair work, he let me know so I could invest the cost into the new vehicle instead of wasting it on the old one. If not for moving to another state I would still be taking my vehicles to Jim and know that not only was the price I paid for their maintenance fair, but that the work was done right and the vehicles were safe to drive. #1 in my book.
