We went to two other places for a price quote and Daniel offered us the lowest price hands down (he was the first place that we went to) and my fiance wanted to use him since he's used him before and he did a fantastic job. Everything was completed, as promised, and even better - he did a little extra work that he didn't charge us for - he popped a little ding out of the front side bumper (got to love those Chicago drivers that can't park and always 'kiss' the bumper). The staff there was very courteous and gave me an estimate that was reasonable (though about $100 higher than my lowest estimate). After visiting several body shops, I think it's worth noting that these folks seemed the most professional and least smarmy/condescending. If I had the extra $100 in the bank - or insurance to cover, I would gladly bring my car here for repair. (Unfortunately, I don't!) read more

I had a bad experience at Daniel's. Auto Service. He repaired the dent on my bumper and painted the entire bumper for which I paid him $864.50,. A few monthly later the paint began chipping off. Marvin Daniel's told me this was the result of the bumper being hit which wasn't true. I trusted him and agreed to pay $200 for a new paint job. One month later the paint was chipping off again. He would not stand behind his work and tried to blame me for backing into something even though there is no damage other than chipping paint. I came in to discuss and he told me to get out. Since he does not accept credit cards I paid by check and therefore have no recourse for a refund. Beware! read more

Mr. Daniels and Daniel's Auto Body are wonderful. I'm not a bad driver, but I have taken my VW to him twice in the last six months. The first time he told me he would try and take a dent out of my door without having to paint...and was able to. I would never have had any idea if he really could have or not and his honesty saved me $400 plus. The second time I took my car in, I specifcally asked them NOT TO REPAIR a certain section because I didn't really want to spend the money. When I picked my car up, the had fixed it at NO CHARGE. Can't say enough good things about Daniels Auto Body. Daniels has worked on all three of our cars, including a brand new BMW that looked like a golf ball when it got pummeled by hail a week after we drove it out of the show room. During the reign of two teenaged drivers in our house, it seemed we needed body work every month. (You look at a PT Cruiser too long and it dents.) Daniels' estimates were always near the lowest and insurance companies seem to love him. Our cars always come back detailed, spotless and quickly. Usually, Daniels repairs some dents or scratches unrelated to the damage we hired him to fix for no charge. Mr. Daniels (who doesn't seem to have a first name and bears an uncanny resemblance to Morgan Freeman) runs a great shop -- honest, thorough and professional. Don't hesitate to use them. read more

Hands down the best auto shop I have ever been to and would highly recommend Daniels to family and friends. Daniel's had fantastic customer service and was very reasonably priced. Before I went to Daniels I got a estimate for a minor repair on my bumper. This auto shop insisted I needed to replace my bumper and that I should go through my insurance. The total cost for this came to $1,400. After getting the feeling that I was being lied to by this place, I took my car to Daniels for a second estimate. Daniels said there was no need to replace my bumper and they could fix it for $140! Daniel's is excellent. Honest, efficient, reasonably priced, professional. They found a used part (instead of a new one) at 40% of the original estimate; did the work quickly and trusted me enough when I picked up my car with only a credit card and no checkbook to take my car home and return the next day with a check! Wow. Also, they not only washed the exterior of my car, they cleaned and vacuumed the interior as well, including washing the winter salt encrusted floor mats. Working with Daniel's on a hit and run door damage repair was a breath of fresh air. The quote I received as very reasonable, and at the same time I asked to consider some cosmetic bumper damage for which I had previously received some outlandish quotes by other body shops. Daniels was results oriented, and fixed the appearance perfectly at a minimal cost. When I picked up the car, many spots on the car that were not part of the deal were also touched up, the car looked like it had been washed, and the inside of car had been cleaned and vacuumed. A couple of weeks ago, the door to our Toyota Sienna was bent in our garage when it was accidentally left open and got wedged by the garage door as it closed. I took the van to auto house in Northbrook because I was having my 40,000 miles checkup at the Toyota place next door. I received an estimate for $3069.67 to replace the door and even the sensors with one of the heads of the body shop flashing me a wildly enthusiastic smile as he laid on each piece of bad news, making sure to tell me that it was impossible to fix the door any other way than replacing it and each sensor. Now enter Daniels Auto Body Shop in Wilmette, who in less than a day they were able to repair the van door without replacing it. I don't know how they did it, but with a total bill of $150, and a van door that works perfectly, I suspect that there was a great deal of effort involved to be honest. Yes honest. And also the fact that they probably know multitudes of ways of fixing something and the cost of each approach and are honestly doing their best to look out for their customer and not charge any more than they need to. Do you hear that word a lot in reviews of repair and body shops? Honesty? I don't think so. Does Daniels know I probably would have been happy to pay 6 times that amount and still feel I got a bargain? I suspect so. They are smart enough to know what they can charge and still get away with keeping their customer content, but that isn't the way they think. Daniels truly wants to deliver honest work at a fair price at what it actually costs them plus an honest markup. I should have written a review for Daniel's multiple times over the last decades because our past experience with Daniels has always been what it was yesterday. Honest, old-fashioned work at a fair price. Always way below their competitors. The people who work for Daniels are the same. Patient, approachable people who convey, "I respect you." This isn't the first time with Daniels that we've had something damaged where they look for a way to unbend something without having to replace more pieces of the car than they have to. I am pretty sure that God is looking down at this beautiful business and is pleased that somewhere on the North Shore, there is an honest, reliable body shop that is completely fair and square with their customers. I have been using Daniel's for more than 20 years. The owner, Mr. Daniel, runs the most honest and fair-priced body shop in the Chicago area. His work is superb, and always done on time. The shop is approved by major insurance companies, but from personal experience I can attest that it is also a great place to bring those smaller repairs that you don't want to claim on your policy. I should begin with saying I'm very anal about my car. I brought my car here for a door ding that was so faint I doubt 99.99% of all people would even be able to see it, let alone bother having it repaired. I initially brought my car to a body shop that was about 40 minutes from my house due to previously having good luck with them. After an hour the guy had turned one barely noticed ding into 4 small barely noticeable dings. Very frustrating to say the least. I read some reviews about Daniels and figured it was worth checking out. I stopped over to Daniels to determine if they would think I was insane for even bothering with having this taken out. I met with the owner who was very pleasant. I pulled my car in where one of his guys, Sergey, looked at the ding and he repaired it in about 10 minutes. It happened so quickly I was skeptical since I had just spent an hour somewhere else. I closely examined the car from every angle, in sunlight and in shade - and it was indeed flawless. I ended up bringing my wife's car to have two smaller dings repaired as well. The entire staff was spectacular - especially when you consider body shops are the shadiest businesses on earth to deal with. Sergey is the best paintless dent repair specialist I've ever worked with in 16 years of dealing with this kind of work. I'm quite knowledgeable about cars and even own a paint depth gauge (so that should tell you my level of OCD). I talked to them for over an hour about PDR techniques and paint work!
