They said two adjacent teeth needed crowns. My insurance company strongly disagreed, and wouldn't approve the second tooth. Dr. Beri frequently uses equipment and procedures not covered by insurance. My feeling is he wants to maximize the number of crowns and similar replacements to help with the ROI on all the equipment he has. When I first started here, there were at least 7 to 10 people in this office. Today, 2-3. I do not recommend this office.

Well, after that, the tooth hurt. And a month later it still hurt. And at least 3 months later it still hurt. I went back there to complain after at l;east 3 months later months and I was told that it was nothing to be concerned about unless heat or cold started bothering it. That it was the nerve and it should go away. Dr. Beri was defensive and also aloof that this was because of the dental work. Over a year later, a year full of almost daily migraines, sinus issues, fatigue and other stuff here I sit having gone to another dentist this morning, who advised me that the filling put in my tooth was entirely too big, that the tooth was completely infected, and I have to have a root canal. When they got in there, she said it was full of infection. So, I have had an infected tooth/root whatever for at least a year, and had I gone back to this place again I still don't think they would have addressed it. My kids had their last examination there two weeks ago and we will not return. Thanks for the now $500+ expense due to carelessness and not listening to your patient. THREE MONTHS after the procedure and something should have been done. At a minumum, recognized the filling was too entirely big. I really appreciate this extra expense.

Years ago, Dr. Scherer removed a tooth of mine, and the experience was perfect... very efficient,…read moreprofessional, and I had no issues afterwards. Because of that positive experience, I brought my 9-year old son in today to have a tooth removed. My son has some special needs - he has severe ADHD, a learning disability and intense anxiety about pain. During our consultation with Dr. Scherer last month, I informed him of this and explained that my son has anxiety and fear (somewhat disproportionate to a normal level) when it comes to pain. I said, he will be VERY afraid and wI'll likely cry. I asked Dr. Scherer what he could do to help alleviate the fear. Answer: a child's dose of Valium the night before and morning of, and either laughing gas or IV sedation. I assumed those would be coupled with some understanding and a little empathy and maybe compassion for a terrified CHILD. OMG!!!! NOTHING could be farther from that. Dr. Scherer showed no empathy or compassion. Basically, he scared my son even more by saying "We can either do this now, here - or in the hospital." He demonstrated no care or understanding that my son was terrified. In fact, Dr. Scherer's demeanor was brusque, curt and slightly aggressive. He was unkind in that he used my son's fear against him instead of found or saying ANYTHING to try to allay his fear... even a little. My son was being brave and 'keeping it together' until we were told that I wasn't allowed to go into the room to hold his hand. Per Dr. Scherer, APPARENTLY, having a parent in the room makes the situation worse. Ok, maybe. I'll never know. But, I never expected the callous, brusque manner of Dr. Scherer today. I don't understand why this "hard-a$$" approach was necessary or appropriate for a scared, terrified kid with cognitive challenges. Shame on you, Dr. Scherer.

My 6 year old daughter is one of those kids who acts like she's brave but I can see right through…read moreher. I know when she's nervous, and I know she's got that "white coat syndrome" that so many kids (and adults) face. When we arrived at Wheaton Prarie Dental, I could almost HEAR her heart beating faster. So I made sure to act calm and collected as we approached the front door. Once her name was called, I was surprised she didn't run out the door right then and there. But Lindsey, the hygienist, greeted her with a smile and made sure she was comfortable in The Chair. And that's when I knew my kid wasn't scared anymore. She was definitely relaxed, and this was WITHOUT the gas mask! After Lindsey did the routine xray and whatnot, we met Dr Colella. He, too, greeted her with a smile and had a good talk with her. He acted as if he was just a friend who she hadn't seen in a while. He explained that he was just going to check and make sure everything was going well and even got excited when discovering there was a FIRST LOOSE TOOTH present! At the end of the exam, he gave us a bag full of goodies which of course any kid would love. The staff here is great and despite it being on a relatively busy street, the location is great. Parking is easy and there's a lot to do to pass time if you've got to wait a while for your significant other or kid during a long visit. Our routine visit, however, was quick - something I appreciate as a busy mom. Overall I'm happy to have found a dentist/dental office that I can trust, and one that my kids will trust as well. We all know dental visits are scary. This place isn't scary. =)
