I've worked with a few personal stylists over the years and Margo is the best. She first came to my…read morehouse to do a closet edit. This felt like the equivalent of someone helping you part with sentimental items that are creating clutter. Why wear things that don't fit well, you're keeping for that one time when..., or are not classics and are actually dated? When I met her for shopping, I made some quick judgements about some of the items she picked out, thinking, "I'll never wear that." But much to my surprise, those items looked great. Margo nicely pushed me out of my comfort zone/rut of wearing the same colors (hello navy and black!) or buying 3 of one item. She also taught me why some things were unflattering and how to pick things that would be, how to know which jeans would fit best, and how to accessorize. Everything was in my price range and each time we met, almost everything she picked out were items I bought. Margo is so worth your time and money!

Tired of a wardrobe that made me look like I was in college (worn-out hoodies, jeans, chuck…read moretaylors) when I was moving into a more professional role at work, I came across Margo's info thanks to fellow yelpers and got in touch with her. It was time and money well spent. I went from wearing about 20% of my clothing 100% of the time (and not feeling so great in it) to 100% of my clothing 100% of the time, and feeling much more confident about how i was presenting myself. Margo was really fun to work with, and although I wasn't sure how it would be shopping with a stylist, it felt like shopping with a girlfriend who was honest, helpful, and fun to be around. I was on a budget and didn't purchase everything that we found, but she did help me find plenty of great pieces and I got an idea of what sorts of brands and styles were a good fit for me. We met three times over the course of a month or two - once for the closet audit, once for the shopping trip, and once for her to put together some outfits with what we bought (she encouraged me to take photos of the outfits, and it's been a lifesaver). She was in touch via email between and after these sessions, checking on how things were going, sending helpful links, answering my silly questions, etc. Oh, and do you get those annoying little holes in the belly area of your thin shirts? She's got a solution for that . . .

If you love the outdoors -- or just want to look like you do -- the Columbia Factory Store is a…read moremust-stop. The selection here is fantastic, with everything from jackets and hiking shoes to thermal gear and hats, all at factory outlet prices. I've found deals that beat most online discounts, especially during seasonal sales. The staff deserves a shoutout. They're genuinely helpful, not pushy, and always willing to check stock or help you find the right size. You can tell they actually use the products and know what they're talking about. The store is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate -- no digging through messy racks like some outlets. The checkout process is quick, and the team keeps the line moving even when it gets busy. Pro tip: Sign up for the Columbia Rewards program. I've scored some extra savings and early access to sales that make it worth it. Overall, this is one of the best outlet shopping experiences in the Portland area. Whether you're gearing up for a hike or just looking for a solid rain jacket (we are in the PNW), Columbia has you covered -- literally! LMAO

This Columbia Outlet store had so many great deals, it was overwhelming…read more I stopped by here yesterday afternoon because I'm in the market for some new winter outerwear. I was specifically hoping to find boots and/or a jacket. On top of having an entire floor full of clearance jackets, they also had about a dozen racks under tents outside of the store. It seemed like they probably had every Columbia jacket that had been made within the past few years. There was also a ton of Mountain Hardware and Sorel. The Mountain Hardware jackets were about 25-50% off, which was still significantly cheaper than REI or anywhere else that I know of. I ended up feeling so overwhelmed by the jacket selection that I decided I needed to do some research, and come back. I ended up leaving with two pairs of snow boots: 1 Columbia, and 1 Sorel. I got both pairs for $55, including tax and a very small roundup for the National Park fund. I've been looking for boots for a couple of weeks, and the cheapest I've found comparable boots anywhere else was anywhere from $69-129. So, I was beyond stoked to find two pairs I liked in the clearance section. They were also having a store wide BOGO half-off sale, which is how the total ended up so low. I didn't have, and have actually never had any of the issues with outlet stores that other people brought up in their reviews. I used to work at the outlets in Folsom. Most of the merchandise isn't damaged or defective-- it's just overstock or barely out of season. The boots that I purchased are honestly of similar quality to brand new boots from DSW. I just got really lucky (and have a seventh sense for when things will be on sale due to all my years of working in retail). Staff was super friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience and I would definitely shop here again.

One of the best experiences I've had at a frame shop in forever. My wife and I are new to the area…read moreand had several pieces we wanted to get framed and one of our pieces was a family watercolor we wanted re-framed since the mat had warped over the years. The original mat was also cut too tight and overlapped/hid content on the image. We all agreed it could be improved with a more open mat but weren't sure how far we could get away with before showing acidification from the older mat on the paper, artistic marks, etc. And it was agreed they'd call us to let us know what seemed right after they had opened it. We never got that call and they cut the mat exactly as it was (which wasn't great) so that may have been a failure in communication or note taking--whatever it happens! We go to pick it up and talk about it again and Liz was the nicest shop keeper ever and agreed to open it on the spot so we could have a look and sure enough we could trim back that mat and expand the image. We could do all that without having to cut a new frame, glass, etc. So we make an extra trip to work this out but so what it's perfect now and an extra trip for perfection is surely worth it. My point is not all shops will be willing to work with you and be as courteous as they are so I suggest you check them out. You'll get great customer service and results that'll please your entire family. Thanks so much Liz! You're fabulous!

I now own 3 of the same tunic in different colors, have bought a few other things, and took my friend (visiting from NC) in so she could buy the same tunic! I should add that I'm a plus-size gal who never has the opportunity to try on cute clothing in small boutiques because they are never size-inclusive. Thankfully, Nikki runs an inclusive and welcoming boutique! Nikki is just the sweetest woman, has a fabulous eye for fashion, and is a wonderful business owner who sincerely loves her customers. The clothing and other products she brings in to her boutique cover a wide variety of styles and prices. I couldn't be happier that she's just a short walk away for when I feel like shopping for something, for when I have a friend visiting who decides she loves the tunic I am always wearing, or when I just want to say hi to a neighborhood friend!
