So when I decide I am actually going to do something, I tend to move quickly. I setup a phone consult (right from the Yelp app) and talked to Ladan the very next day. We then had a face to face meeting three days later, and another within the next week. She was able to setup a photo shoot for the very next day to supplement some of my existing photos with additional casual photos (shout out to photographer @emilyjoangreene - she was awesome too!). And voila - we went live 24 hours later. Fast forward to 8 days later (today) and I have already received more "likes" than I had in all my previous online dating adventures. Three upcoming dates confirmed, and this is FUN, not frustrating anymore. Ladan moves at your pace, helps you showcase the best of YOU and doesn't try to make you into something that you're not, is accessible for those silly follow up questions, and basically just downright amazing. She loves what she does and it shows.

This is, literally, the reason I'm leaving this review. Ladan legitimately understands relationship context much better than most people I've talked to. She has told me what I need to hear , rather than what I *think* I want to hear and helped me handle unclear or potentially awkward situations with perfect fluidity and taken the confusion out of uncomfortable moments. Almost a year ago exactly my friend gave me a button with Tina Fey on it. "Where did you get…read morethis?!" I exclaimed. "I made it," she replied I gawked at it and envied her for having access to a button maker. A year later, Portland Button Works has appeared and granted my wish to make my own Tina Fey buttons. Oh, what fun! There's much more to this place than the name might lead you to believe. While buttons are there to be bought, ordered, or even made by you on a whim in person at the store, they also carry a wide selection of zines. I've only been there one time and I'm already feeling very inspired to read more zines. Finally a place in Portland with awesome zines that I can get to without crossing a bridge or those pesky streetcar tracks. The fifth quadrant of this city has been waiting for a place like this to open for a while now. If you're not fortunate enough to live nearby, then have no fear as it's just a block or so off the Killingsworth Max stop. Besides having a really nice selection of zines and buttons, the store itself feels very welcoming and cozy. There are benches to sit on inside that seem to be created from recycled materials, and I believe most of the shelving has been made from pallets. In the center of the store sits an island with a few button makers on it, beckoning for you to make your own. In addition to the awesome space, the folks who run the store are really welcoming and eager to answer questions or chat about zines. I am very excited for this new addition to the neighborhood and the future buttons to be made!

Prices that go down with steps in volume make shopping there super thrifty. It's reassuring how they keep you apprised of your order's progress as it goes through their system. You get an immediate acknowledgment, and notifications when the buttons go into production and get shipped. I asked if I could get the buttons by a date two weeks out, and they came in more like two days. I got a handwritten note from the proprietor and a bonus grab bag of RESIST buttons with my order.

When we picked up the finished sofa last week, it was more beautiful than I'd imagined. They replaced the three old cushions with one solid cushion at our request. They made sofa arm covers as we asked. Their customer service is also top notch. Although it took a very, very long time due to a delay in getting the fabric (COVID related supply-chain issues), once Lake Grove Upholstery received the white faux leather we ordered, they immediately went to work to turn our sofa around quickly, knowing we'd been without it for more than three months. They are currently reupholstering two living room channel-back side chairs and can't wait to see how those turn out. I have no doubt we will be as impressed as we are with the sofa upholstering.
