The ease of getting my new patient appointment scheduled as well as the paperwork etc ready to go for my appointment was very good. Once I arrived to my appointment, I was quickly taken back to the exam room. Not much of a wait at all. They listened to me, and I did not feel rushed at all during my appointment. The doctor was very kind as well, and put my mind at ease, most importantly, I did not feel like I was getting the run around or recommended anything that wasn't absolutely necessary related to my issue. Definitely recommend this office for any foot/ankle issues, they're very honest, helpful, and friendly.

When I met Dr. Shock -- his first words to me were "How about we get this fixed up?" -- I was stunned after living with this pain for over 2 years. :) It turned out that I had a torn 'longus peroneal tendon' that he was able to diagnose with an MRI. Why no other doctor thought of that before, I have no idea. I suffered through the injections, creams, socks, inserts with other doctors without any relief. I had the peroneal tenodesis surgery and was walking without pain within 2 weeks of surgery! Doctor Shock is an amazing doctor and just a very friendly and welcoming guy -- I feel like I've known him for years! :) I highly recommend him for any foot pain that you may be enduring now -- you can be completely confident that he will fix you right up!

I underwent bunion surgery on my right foot, along with correction of another toe. Unfortunately, the final outcome has been very disappointing. Following surgery, my big toe healed with a significant gap between it and my second toe, creating an unnatural appearance that has never improved. In addition, the toe that was corrected with a pin never healed properly and now "floats" rather than resting naturally on the ground. Despite prolonged taping and following the postoperative instructions provided, these issues never resolved. I became so dissatisfied with the outcome that I ultimately chose not to return for additional treatment. I understand that no surgery comes with guarantees, but I feel my concerns and the long term appearance and function of my foot were not adequately addressed. Years later, I remain unhappy with the results and regret having had the procedure performed. Based on my personal experience and outcome, I cannot recommend this surgeon.

This doctors office is located amongst a row of buildings in this hidden office park. After answering quite a number of questions, I was escorted to the back examining room. Unlike most sterile clinical environments, her office had a very homey inviting feel to it. Remember those good old days when your doctor actually spent a fair amount of time with you answering your questions and explaining the procedure. Dr. Toussaint was empathetic and let me know what was going to happen. She let me know the infection had not spread to the bone, but she needed to numb the toe with 2 shots of a local anesthetic before she had to cut away the nail to treat the infection. Surprisingly, there was very little discomfort and she gave me some great instructions on how to care for it in the coming days after she bandaged it up. One thing you do need to know is that when it's time to settle up with the co-pay, you will also have to settle up the remainder of what your insurance will not pay. In other words, you will need to bring a credit card or cash because she does not send you a bill. With BCBS, our total bill was just $80. Dr. Toussaint is definitely one of those rare doctors that really spends some quality time with you and makes sure that you are properly taken care of. Informative photos included.

The doctor did not give any indication that I was going to be in extreme pain when I got home. Also did not prescribe any painkillers. The pain was pulsing through my foot before I even managed to get home. When I showed up for the follow-up this morning, (two weeks later) no one there. I am so glad I decided to take care of the issues when I moved to Austin, as she was the ONE DR that ever took time while in the office to discuss my foot problem and take care of of them. I had been walking around with near-constant debilitating pain and worried I was done running or playing with my kids before I even turned 30. I consulted multiple doctors and Dr. Sharkey took her time explaining my options and even sending me links to a full video of what the surgery would be like. She was so helpful, patient, and informative and really helped me feel comfortable. After the surgery I was in a cast and when it was removed I realized he had done extensive surgery on my entire foot. The recovery was difficult and after the surgical site healed my foot was numb and it felt like there was a rope pulling between the big toe and the second toe. Like others who reviewed him, he didn't give me any explanation, just kept repeating that "your foot is anatomically correct". But I can't feel it except the pulling between my toes. He repeated the same answer. I am several years post surgery and have never regained the feeling of having a normal foot. All this to straighten a hammer toe. What I'm left with is worse than the problem I went in with. Beware...never let him operate on your feet.
