Small waiting room, and I mean small, nice selection of music though. Waited 30 min past appointment time to be brought back. 15 min later still have not seen doctor. Seems to be busy, so at least that is good, people come and use this clinic. Seeing Smedley for biopsy today he was very nice and very informative. I do not recommend Precision Podiatry to any person. I sit at an 8/10 pain all day one year post-op from my surgery performed by Dr. Smedley. I have been to three different pain management doctors and three orthopedic surgeons for second opinions. Pain management has told me I am suffering from nerve damage from my surgery and each orthopedic surgeon has said I never should have had the original procedure because it was overkill. Dr. Smedley acted selfishly and for his own gain by performing a surgery he would receive additional money from the hardware company despite knowing I did not need such an evasive surgery. He also over prescribed opioids post-op and ignored requests to stop prescribing hydrocodone because it was not helping the pain. I requested pregabalin, a medication for nerve pain, not an opioid, and he said the hydrocodone was all I needed. I believe, again, he acted selfishly and did not want to prescribe a nerve medication because it it resolved my pain, it would highlight that my procedure led to nerve damage. I am 27 and one year pot-op I have no movement of either big toe, and am in chronic pain and will potentially never be able to run again; the initial reason I went to see Dr. Smedley. I do not recommend him as a provider or Precision Podiatry as a practice. read more

2022 suffered from gout in my right ankle. Went to see Dr. Smedley. Gave me a cortisone shot and put me on Allopurinol 100mg and colchicine 0.6mg. Uric acid was still above normal. Put me on Allopurinol 300mg. Uric acid came down and one episode of gout after that. Came back and another Cortisone shot. Got better and told me to come back in "one year" after getting more labs done. Last week had a minor flareup and took Colchicine and Ibuprofen for the pain and it went away in 2 days. Messaged him through the portal and he acted as if I intentionally hadn't come in for one ear. I told him that he said one year and I will make an appointment and get labs done. The front office never responded to my messages on the phone and through the portal. Asked for a refill of Allopurinol until my appointment on June 11th. None of the front office people had a clue about my file and the notes and never bothered to check the notes and three times declined the RX refill. A drug that must be taken daily for the rest of my life and CANNOT AND SHOULD NOT BE discontinued abruptly. This so-called Doctor has denied an RX that has to be taken daily or bad things can happen. They are holding my RX hostage for an appointment date which has been already set! They are a group of insensitive God-complexed idiots who are playing with my wellbeing. Already found another podiatrist with 5-star reviews. Will be reporting him to the AMA and other authorities for his conduct. Hey Smedley! Here is a recap of the oath you took. I had the unfortunate experience of a ingrown toe nail. My first time here and it was amazing. The staff was nice and greeted you. You felt like you were talking to a family friend. Ease of check in and the wait was 5 min.(I was late 5 min) The nurse brought me back asked some questions and told me the Doc Jeffery Cohen would be right in. Few minutes go by and he walks in happy and welcomed me for coming in. Ask me what was wrong and some history, Very personable and I felt at ease. H examined my foot and told me he could fox this up and go to work and have me out in a few minutes. He showed me 2 needles and asked if I would like to numb while "he went to work" I declined. I have a high pain tolerance. During the procedure we chatted and carried on a good conversation. After about 10 minutes he was done. Some blood but no harm no foul. Band-aid and I was up and about. I tanked him for some advice on a other issue., Came across as master of his field. Great service and I will see him again in about 6 months. Highly recommend for all your foot needs! read more

I like Dr. Smedley and he's very personable but just be prepared to wait an hour past your appointment time. They never mention at check in he's behind, you just wait forever. I have never once been seen within 45 minutes of my scheduled time and I've been to the office about 8 times now.... I'm glad to see him busy and performing elective surgeries during COVID but they need to respect patients time with scheduling. So frustrating. read more

Run away don't walk away if you are even considering using Dr. Jon Smedley for foot surgery. Dr. Smedley was recommended to me by Dr. Gary Prant who I had been a patient of for minor foot maladies. Trusting Dr. Prant I did not question his recommendation and made an appointment to be seen by Dr. Smedley. The first clue should have been having to wait an hour to be seen. But once I got in, Dr. Smedley was personable, so I booked surgery for a bunionectomy and two hammer toes surgery on my right foot. Surgery performed December 2016. From the very first post op appointment I told both Dr. Smedley and his assistant, Jackie, I was in pain as well as the second toe was at an angle that as such was pushing against my big toe. They gave me a form with straps to bind the two toes that had been operated on together to see if they would realign. I came back two weeks later in which Dr. Smedley, while taking an x-ray but not an MRI or CAT scan diagnosed my issue as Morton's Neuroma and proceeded to give me a cortisone shot in my right foot. Two weeks later I returned again in pain and was given another cortisone shot without any further diagnostic review. The receptionist when checking out inquired if I wanted to make a third post appointment to which I declined. Especially since on both post op appointments I had to again wait an hour to be seen. June 2017 the pain was shooting up my leg. This time I did my own personal due diligence checking reviews on YELP. What was discovered by the physician was that the apparatus installed for the bunion was too long in a certain spot and was poking into a cluster of nerves. The second hammer toe was at an angle that had caused a ligament tear. And due to the excruciating pain I had developed a way of walking that resulted in a stress fracture. September 2017 I underwent foot surgery to repair everything that was wrong with the surgery performed by Dr. Smedley. I contacted Dr. Prant since he was the physician who recommended Dr. Smedley requesting he serve as a go-between as I felt it appropriate to seek reimbursement from Dr. Smedley of my out of pocket expenses due to having to undergo a second surgery to correct my foot issues. Dr. Prant spoke with Dr. Smedley and they conferred that "the second toe is very difficult to operate on," they had reviewed the operating notes and felt that there was no reason for Dr. Smedley to assume responsibility. November 2017 I wrote a detailed email to Dr. Smedley providing him with supporting documentation requesting his consideration of reimbursing me for the $1425 I was out of pocket on the re-do surgery. Never heard a word. December 2017 I called Dr. Smedley's office leaving a message that it was a personal matter but I would appreciate the consideration of Dr. Smedley returning my call. In April 2016, my Father was hospitalized with severe calciphylaxis in his legs, which included a large unclosed wound on his right shin that had contracted MRSA. While in Houston, he was advised that due to his poor circulation that the wound would probably not heal for years, and to just keep it dry and treated with Betadine. The doctors there stated that amputation of his right leg was probably the only way to guarantee that an infection would not spread. This continued for two months, before the decision was made to move him to the Austin area near me. In June 2016, we visited a Wound Care Specialist in Cedar Park who recommend Dr. Jon Smedley with Precision Podiatry. Upon meeting Dr. Smedley, we voiced our previous advice and urged him to just keep the wound "dry as the desert" and to not remove the large scab. He described to us that without being able to "control the environment", that he could not heal the wound. We trusted him against previous medical advice and a debridement procedure was done to scrape all of the dead tissue off of his leg. For about two months, we visited Dr. Smedley on a weekly basis to unwrap and re-wrap his leg and treat the wound with stem cells. Today, two-and-a-half months after his surgery and five months after the initial grim diagnosis, my Father's leg is completely healed and no longer needs treatment. We are grateful for Dr. Smedley, his team, and Precision Podiatry for turning a dark prognosis into a full recovery. read more

My daughter sprained her ankle in a volleyball game. I took her to Dr Smedley, who checked her out and took xrays. Dr Smedley stated that it was a simple sprain and promptly sold us a $250.00 boot. Two months passed with very little improvement, so i took her to Dr Putney. Funny thing,,, she had a clean break on her growth plate. How does a doctor especially a foot doctor miss a clean break? More concerned about getting patients in and out that proper care. I guess, selling $250.00 boots is very important. I gave him one star, couldn't go any lower. read more

I fell and injured my foot 4months ago. Since I don't have health insurance, I was hesitant to go to the doctor and tried to home-remedy it for a few weeks, post injury. After 7wks it wasn't getting better. I got x-rays done at an emergency room and they suggested I see an Orthopedic Surgeon. I went to Texas Orthopedics and had the most terrible health care experience ever. Nothing against Texas Orthopedics itself (the staff was great) but everything against the surgeon. Deciding that I needed to get a second opinion, I asked friends and family for recommendations and Dr. Jonathan Smedley came up, so I decided to go see him.    I wish I had seen Dr. Jonathan Smedley from day one!    I showed up 5min before my appointment and waited 10min before seeing him- so impressive for any Dr's office! Precision Podiatry was so on point with their scheduling, that they already had my vote on how quickly they got me in.    Dr. Jonathan Smedley made me feel like I was his only patient he saw that day. The team took more x-rays and were thorough in explaining the process and why they needed to take additional x-rays. When the results came in (less than 10min), Dr. Jonathan Smedley took his time in explaining the results of the x-rays. He was very detailed and explained everything to me in a way that made sense and I was able to comprehend what actually happened to my foot. He showed me the x-rays, showed me diagrams and physically showed me on my foot. He also spent his time evaluating my foot.   Dr. Jonathan Smedley and Tonya (Surgery Coordinator- Precision Podiatry) were very sympathetic when discussing the total charges and my financial situation. Tonya took the initiative in making sure I found a facility and anesthesia team that would be financial fit for me. Both Dr. Jonathan Smedley and Tonya made me feel much more important than the Texas Orthopedics did.    The day of surgery came and I had my surgery done by Dr. Jonathan Smedley at St. David's Round Rock Medical Center with Austin Anesthesia. Despite my surgery taking a little longer than expected, everything went great and Dr. Jonathan Smedley and his team have given me the confidence that I will heal nicely.    I couldn't thank or recommend Dr. Smedley and Precision Podiatry more! Dr Jon Smedky Would highly recommend . Staff was courteous and he had a humor of my deep cut that was shaped as a V Like Dr Stokes at urgent care and Dr Fischer from Avery Ranch . Each one had a nickname for the V.... I put my trust in him because he knows his specialty in podiatry and had good bed side manners which means the world to me . Thank you Sorry if I was upset about having to pay more than my co-pay because I did tell the nurse I already had a special shoe , Walker and crutches .. I didn't need another shoe but upon checkout they asked for more money and in the past some nurses at other practices deliberately cancelled my pain shots that were in house ( Free) after you pay co pay and made me go to a surgery room for 3 shots just to say that will be 5000.00 and it doesn't even go towards your deductible.... And in my charts they wrote lies about me on that visit, so it just brings up things about our health system and how they shoukd let patients know how much more it will cost .. I find out some families are from doctors, dentists and they can really create havoc ... Advice ... let people know how much charges will be so it doesn't cause hurt feelings read more

Went in to see Smedley for one ankle sprained during a work fall, while carrying a heavy load. PT recommended was great. But during that healing I slipped on my wooden stair case and fractured the other foot. I am 54. It wasn't until the third X-ray that he mentioned I have the bones of an 80 year old. Coulda maybe said that on first X-ray???? Took 3 X-rays to order an mri. I really don't think this guy knows what he is doing. read more

My first appointment I had to wait over 30 minutes, but I was satisfied with the care and results. I thought once, I could forgive. Since then, it has become a pattern. I have now had four appointments, and not one of them was I seen on time. Tardiness aside, Dr. Smedley seems very knowledgeable and explains the procedures well. His bedside manner is wonderful. His staff is awful. I was supposed to have surgery, and called the number given to schedule it. I requested a day and was told i would be called back. No call back. I go to the next appointment and attempt to confirm the date and time, they were unaware of the phone call and I told them again what I wanted and they said I would get a call to confirm the time. They gave me the pain prescription for after the surgery in advance, and I went home. Later that week, I still had not been called. With surgery less than 1 week (in my mind, I called again to confirm the time. The surgery had not been scheduled. I was told they'd call me in half an hour, and that they'd send an email to the scheduling person. I decided to go pick up the prescription, and the doctor had failed to sign it. I called back again and asked which office the doctor was at, but he was out of town. And they still haven't heard back on the scheduling, they'll call me as soon as they hear back. But they haven't and its been over 3 hours and they're now closed for the weekend. All of the short term disability and FMLA paperwork has been set with the understanding of the original date discussed on the first phone call with the scheduling person. It is 5 days until that date, and I don't know if I am going to even be able to get in the same week as originally planned. My confidence in this place and this doctor is completely shattered, and I'm not sure I want to do the surgery with them anymore. Do not go down this path if you have a choice. read more

First appointment I waited for almost and hour. Dr. Smedley wrote me a prescription he forgot to call in. I had to call 2 more times over the next 3 days to get this done. I just went and sat in his office for 45 minutes to be told I couldn't be seen in the next half hour. I asked for my Co- Pay back and left. I went to Dr. Shock to get a 2nd opinion on the bunions I have. He was VERY straight forward and up front about everything. He explained to me why I needed surgery and walked me through the entire process. I was scared/nervous about the surgery and he really helped to put my mind at ease. I am currently recovering post 2 weeks from the bunion surgery he did and I can honestly say he did an amazing job. He is very down to earth as well. He will call you personally to discuss questions or issues you might have. I'm very thankful I found this office! Btw, the office staff at all locations are great!! read more

I was referred by a Doctor I trust. Big mistake. He did not listen to me and was arrogant. I wasted my time and money going there. He diagnosed me with bursitis and I do not have any of those symptoms. Also with todays technologies bringing in a picture of my xrays is useless. I had excellent care by Dr. Shock and his very pleasant and helpful staff. Had major surgery from a bilateral leg fracture at the ankle. Dr. Shock took a great deal of time to explain all aspects of surgery and recovery including pain management. His staff are always friendly and accommodating and call you back to answer questions as does Dr. Shock. I am now 3 months since surgery and healing well and continuing follow-up care and PT with the same attention to details. I have been a nurse for 40 years and I know it does not get better then this! Pharmacist here. I live on my feet for up to 12 hour-long shifts, and I have more experience interacting with physicians of all sorts than most laypersons. After a sports-related foot injury, I was delighted with the flexibility of the office staff in finding a way to be seen in a timely fashion. Dr. Jeffrey Cohen was open, attentive, perceptive and willing to interact with me to discuss all of the options. We together arrived at a solution that was effective and reasonable. I would not hesitate to see him again, and recommend him and this office to anyone else. After reading (just now) the other reviews, I urge anyone who expects ANY physician to always be able to stick to a firm timeframe during the day for appointments, to consider the only way that happens is to be treated as identical cookie dough, the dr. being the cookie cutter. I feel it is instead more logical and MUCH better that each patient receive the full attention of the dr. for the appropriate/necessary time in order to achieve best therapeutic results, even if it screws up the time-to-next-patient and makes appts. run longer. It is of course, up to the office staff to manage events and importantly keep information flow to mitigate our inevitable frustrations. For me, this office did a good job all around. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Smedley for a total of about 2 years now since I first twisted my ankle and later found out I needed surgery. He is well versed in podiatry and seems to genuinely care about his patients. Most of the time his patience is pretty good. The receptionists do an acceptable job and are very accommodating to scheduling visits based on your needs. However, the waiting room is kind of cramped, particularly with patients' crutches and scooters they sometimes bring in but the place is clean and has an extensive set of magazines to read while you wait. I recently had surgery about a couple of months ago and the recovery has been going slowly but well. Dr. Smedley is great about allowing you several post-ops visits with no additional charge. My only complaint is about his young, Hispanic medical assistant with the dark curly hair. She rarely speaks when she calls me into the room (barely smiles) and appears bitter or disinterested in being there. She has made some remarks and communicated to me in a way that made me feel she had an issue with men. The older lady who was recently training with them is very personable and appears genuinely interested in being there. I hope to see a lot more of her and lot less of the other one in the future. Overall, I highly recommend Precision Podiatry because of Dr. Smedley's skills as a podiatrist and his generosity with his time and knowledge. Just don't be surprised or turned off by any rude or unprofessional behavior from the primary medical assistant. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Jon Smedley in the Cedar Park office. I am v. pleased with the care I have received. On my first visit I had to have injections in my feet that hurt like (you know what!) Dr. Smedley reminded me to breath and tried to keep me laughing through the injections. He has a good bedside manor and listens to you when you talk (really listens). After my visit, I left a message with the front desk asking to have him call me, he did - not his nurse, the Dr. called me back. That impressed me, that's hard to find these days! read more

I had my third appointment with Dr. Shock for a steroid shot to my upper foot. All my appointments were on time, the staff was courteous, the nurse personable, and after looking at my X-rays, Dr. Shock was pleasant and very good at explaining my foot condition.. My foot feels 100% better than it did when I first walked into his office a couple of months ago, and I am so grateful. Dr. Shock is more a Dr. than a salesman. By this I mean he is willing to start small on rectifying my foot pain and has the attitude that we can always work up into surgery but only if needed. I really dislike when Dr.'s want to jump right into doing surgeries. I am a big believer that a person should take these things one step at a time. (No pun intended). I like his professsionalism, and I like his communication skills. My personal Dr. reccommended him and I can see why! Try Dr. shock,if you are researching foot Dr's. I highly recommend Dr. Shock at Precision Podiatry. In addition to the normal expectations I have of a doctor (knowledgeable, professional, etc) I also highly appreciate how straight forward he is when you see him. He doesn't push for a quick diagnosis, instead genuinely listens to your concerns/pains/issues and asks follow up questions to get as much information as possible. He has his patients best interests at heart. I also have to get steroid shots in my heels and feet, which is quite painful, but Dr. Shock makes this as quick and easy as I think it could possibly be.
