After wasting a significant amount of time and money with other highly rated Podiatrists in Austin,…read morewho could not diagnose my foot condition but continued to offer expensive solutions, I am so fortunate that I found Dr. Wood! He is a phenomenal doctor with a wonderful staff. I had been struggling with an annoying (and sometimes painful) condition in my foot for almost a year. My first doctor (Dr. Lisch) treated it as a neuroma but after several injections, I had no results. My second doctor (Dr. Shock) told me it was likely a stress fracture, and had me pay $300 for a boot that I wore for 2 months. After I took the boot off, I still had problems, and after an MRI (another $300) we confirmed that it wasn't a stress fracture at all! What a huge waste of money. Unlike the others, Dr. Wood was able to pinpoint my condition in my first visit. It was a neuroma but caused by a genetic issue (one of my metatarsals is lower than the others), so it needed to be treated in a very specific way. He used an ultrasound to discover this, whereas my other doctors never tried this approach. Also unlike my previous doctors, Dr. Wood did not try to push surgery onto me; he was very honest about foot surgery being risky, and he didn't want me to go down that path. Instead, he gave me a few injections that killed off one of my nerves (the one causing me pain), and prescribed some orthopedic inserts to help correct my genetic offset in the long term. I am happy to say that my pain is almost 100% gone at this point. I cannot recommend Dr. Wood enough! Please don't waste your time with a podiatrist who just wants to make money off you, and push you into an unnecessary surgery! Unfortunately they are out there :-(

I had been walking around with near-constant debilitating pain and worried I was done running or playing with my kids before I even turned 30. He has helped with both issues on my right and left foot. When I originally saw him three years ago I was having some post operative pain following an ankle fusion done by a doctor in another city. He prescribed a non invasive approach to stabilize my foot and leg area. I wore the casting mostly at night for about six months. It completely addressed my issue and now I'm pain free. Six months ago I returned following shooting pain in my right leg/foot. Within about five minutes of seeing him he diagnosed the issue. To be sure that was indeed the issue I was x-rayed in his office. Again we tried a non invasive approach with a walking cast for 4 weeks. The pain persisted and additional tests performed. In the end I needed surgery. Surgery was scheduled and his staff was great in working with me to get the details taken care of. I am not two months post op. He has been great throughout. Listening to me and working with me to meet my needs. I couldn't have wished for a better doctor to work with. I recommend Dr. Cohen without hesitation.
