To give you more of an idea of what I was dealing with, I felt like my back had been solid for majority of my life. Picture a dancing stiff robot. I felt like my lower back had been locked up. When I bent down, my back did not bend, I was as stiff as a board. Before considering a chiropractor, I was concerned I was going to have to seek medical attention and possibly surgery. I was very wrong. I was always terrified of a chiropractor or chiropractics. I realize now it's because I didn't understand the medical benefits and process. Dr. Tino Abon took the time to really help me understand what was going on and how I could prevent certain issues. He was very patient and very kind, even when I felt I was asking pretty naive questions. Dr. Tino's technique really helped to not only loosen my back but to help me get my flexibility and strength back. Appointment times are always chosen by the doctor, not collaboratively, yet I was recently sent a message implying I wasn't respectful of his schedule--even though I had clearly said It would work but let him know if anything changes. The tone of the message I received felt unprofessional and condescending, especially being told I needed to "communicate correctly" in order to be seen. That's not how patients should be spoken to. On top of that, there have been several uncomfortable in-office experiences. While pregnant, I was told I "looked big," which felt inappropriate and insensitive. There have also been moments that raised concerns about professionalism overall, including poor hygiene (noticeable bad breath) and even showing up to an appointment wearing slippers. I believe healthcare providers should create a respectful, professional, and comfortable environment for their patients--this experience did not reflect that.

Predator Practices I…read morehave visited this location a while back after I got diagnosed with a neurological disease called MS. I was in a lot of pain and had a lot of spine stiffness and was desperate for some relief so I made an appointment (first for chiropractor). When i arrived they gave me an X-Ray of my spine and pointed out areas that were compressed. They warned me that I unless I subscribed to their care plan, which was $2000 down and $5000 total, I would not get better and will need surgery later. They also suggested that this care would have me walking again by the end of the plan specifically stating a 98% improvement. Then he had a girl with a clip board ready pressuring me to sign up. It was quite intimidating and overwhelming, and something just didn't feel right. This struck a serious fear in me and had me seriously considering the option but i had to speak to my partner first, who was a PreMed student. He pointed out some serious red flags and inconsistency between the neurological issues I had and their treatment's proposed outcomes. Still wanting to be able to walk again, i consulted with my Neurologist and told them what was promised. My neurologist explained that he has a chiropractor also and is not against eastern medicine, but warned that the treatment they offered has no scientific backing and does not logically make sense in curing a progressive neurological disease. He also pointed out how strange it was that could quote a 98% improvement when no medicine or studies in the history of MS has shown that type of effectiveness. He told encouraged me to try a chiropractor, but warned against this one. I found a different location that I go to now, and told them the same story. They also agreed with my neurologist and even stated that they cannot cure my MS but can only help with my blood flow and symptoms management which is much more realistic. I appreciate my current locations honesty and want to warn those looking for relief against the fear mongering and predatory business practices of Redwood Chiropractor.
