receptionist was incredibly rude and unhelpful. treatment plan changed during my appointment, which…read morecan happen however, this changed the billing codes and thus the estimate they gave me when I began my appointment. I tried to advocate from the pt side, sharing feedback that explanation of changes to cost would have been nice to known in addition to the steps the doc explained. The receptionist response was, "yeah, I'm not going to tell every patient that you might have changes". (insert condescending tone). I had no idea I wasn't getting a root canal until, I called about my claim being denied because it wasn't a root canal. Apparently, I misunderstood the changes but the condescending receptionist was a big disappointment. I didn't deserve that. See reviews other reviews on google. Beware of billing here!

My dentist sent me to Cascade. The dentists themselves were friendly and experienced. The problem…read morewas the billing and some of the office staff. They looked online to see my benefits and assumed that all funds were available, even though my dentist had referred me and provided a lengthy explanation of what he was doing. They did not call the insurance company to verify and assured me my deductible of $500 would cover the remainder. I reemphasized that I was having work done at my dentist's office after my appointment with them. Three months later, I received an additional $900 bill because my insurance didn't pay all the fees ( $145 for limited exam/$150 for CT/xray/$1590 for treatment). When I asked what happened, I was rudely informed, "Well, you signed an agreement that said you would pay, and we don't call your insurance to verify coverage available." I subsequently called the Bend office and talked to a very helpful lady who explained everything, but again, they should have verified the coverage beforehand. So, if I need another treatment, it will certainly not be here. Another point: My son lost his job (company closed) and has no income or insurance. He was referred by the same dentist who, knowing of his circumstances, waived a lot of his fees. This group did a root canal and wouldn't offer even a small discount that was paramount to what they give the insurance company. He wasn't asking for it for free, just maybe a little something. The response was basically, "Pay the $2100 or don't get it".

I finally got the nerve to see a dentist after several traumatic experiences and after researching…read morefor months landed at Bend Family Dentistry. Under the care of Dr. Theda. I had decided on dentures after years of pain and she assured me this was something she could do. A full upper was done. She then told me my four front lower teeth had to go and she could make me a lower partial that looked like a retainer. So she extracted those as well. $8500.00 later she out right refused to finish my bottom partial. Her treatment coordinator simply replied to every question I had with " You have been referred to another dentist." Dr. Theda was paid in full for this work both by my insurance and in cash by me. I have no idea why she referred me. My insurance will not pay twice for same procedure and I am left withOUT four bottom front teeth. The office did offer me a refund but it was so little I can not make my mouth whole until I save enough money to pay for the copays at another dentist. They grew up over 100 years ago. This gave me a strong drive to maintain my teeth. After a bad dental report from another office, I called Bend Family Dentistry hoping to get a 2nd opinion. The woman who answered immediately went into action to see what they could do for me. Weeks later I walked out of Bend Family Dentistry on 3rd Street in Bend, my teeth properly cleaned and I'm smiling. I witnessed confident employees who love their jobs. I highly recommend Bend Family Dentistry. They provide excellent quality work, show compassion and listen to you, and their prices are reasonable. I understand and recognize good communicators of professionalism. Thank you Bend Family Dentistry!

I have OHP which is basically useless for dental so I needed to find a place with an in-office…read moreplan. Alpenglow's is $100 to start then $35 a month which gets you 2 cleanings and x-rays each year and 15% off anything else. My x-rays were quite the adventure. I gagged one time which is normal for me. But the very nice and well-meaning hygienist wanted to help. She asked for a shaker of salt. Someone else in the office said she had one. She then comes over with a test tube of "salt" to put on my tongue to distract me so I wouldn't gag. I was highly suspicious... so I tasted some. It was citric acid. SO acidic it burned. They told me they were going to put a stripe of it on my tongue! So glad I stopped them! Just putting the story here so you can also stop them because wow that would have been awful if I'd just trusted them and had a mouthful of citric acid I expected to be a quick shake of salt. Besides that, I saw Jennifer Montgomery and really liked her. She taught me how to unlock my jaw which no one has ever taught me and I've had jaw issues since childhood. She did a thorough cleaning and didn't diagnose any problems that weren't there which is a huge problem in dentistry. Glad I found someone I can trust!

Weeks ago I had my 2nd and LAST dental appointment at AlpenGlow Dental in Bend. Here is why I call…read moreit LAST: I chose AlpenGlow when I was having trouble with Advantage Dental in La Pine. They had staffing issues. Covid was to blame and having a dentist from Portland who had to drive during snow season didn't help. Reading the good reviews of AlpenGlow, I went for my new patient appointment to get my teeth cleaned there on May 25, 2023. Due to a series of medical emergencies I had to cancel the next cleaning appointments but I went to them on November 14, 2024 and left feeling sad. After seeing what was the X-ray technician, then dentist who did gum check (I thought she was the hygienist because I never had a dentist do this), then I briefly saw THE hygienist as she peaked in the room to say she didn't have time to do my scheduled cleaning as I "needed deep cleaning that would require two appointments". I heard horrible gum numbers I have never heard in my life. I later showed my daughter the estimate and she said it was the 2nd high estimate she heard from them recently. I'm in my 70s and I have had some long-term dentists. I miss the one who retired as he took care of me and my four kids for over 27 years. I know the routine. Most dental appointments have been good for me, but I didn't feel good about the last appointment with AlpenGlow. I felt hustled and I don't even remember their names, if they gave them to me. No small talk. I also wasn't even shown my X-rays which I later realized no dentist has ever done that to me. I was told the X-rays were in the other room I didn't get to go into. Other dentists would have shown them and explained my options. Not sad now. My teeth were cleaned in one appointment by another dentist, and I felt the way I have about the good professional dentists/hygienists in my life and I'm going to return there. Saw my X-rays, no rush. Merry Christmas to me--I saved over $900! So glad I got a 2nd opinion. I got a normal cleaning with the addition of a deep clean of two teeth, not four sections. I only had a topical to help with pain on those two teeth. This is the first time in my life to be told I needed a deep cleaning. I realized that it had been almost one year and six months since they were last professionally cleaned. But somehow I needed a deep cleaning of two teeth. A few teeth below needed a little extra attention but nothing like those two teeth. I have never felt the need for a second opinion but I'm glad I got one. The office of AlpenGlow has a beautiful vista, but I am not willing to help pay for it.
