I love doing my own research (which he supports) and as a result I occasionally, inadvertently challenge him with obscure pharmacological questions I read in a random science journal article -- but Dr. Dale is a walking textbook. Yes, he doesn't submit your insurance, but when you get to only needing quarterly med maintenance appointments, it's totally affordable. My normal BCBSTX gov marketplace discounted healthcare coverage still covers my medications, but I've also used the drug coupons conveniently included in the equally convenient auto-text you receive when Dr. Dale submits prescriptions to your pharmacy. (Also, I have noticed the "submit claim" button on my healthcare provider's website, who is constant improving their website UX -- all things considered it's possible using insurance is simple as paying my insurance bill? The money feels so well-spent I never think to investigate!) He builds you up. Somehow in a brief conversation -- that rarely feels medical in nature -- he identifies the one thing you need to hear that day and says it. Things you didn't even realize were stressing you. It's like he has intuition super powers. I seriously leave every appointment the happiest person on the planet. Comfortable and confident. Easy parking. He doesn't have a front desk person, which is nice in many ways, but I really appreciate not needing to repeat conversations about appointment times. Instead he sends you a calendar event invite reminder for your next appointment as you set it. Billing is automated. He responds to emails same or next day. The only times I've waited to see him were appointments I arrived early to. Quite an all-around efficient business he is running. I found him on Yelp after moving here from Los Angeles. Short on meds from the move, he saw me quickly without issue. I'm LGBTQ so it's always important for me to find someone who understands the culture. He has been nothing but unflinchingly welcoming. He worked with me in planning continued treatment while traveling Europe for work for over a year. When I had a boarder-line stalker ex post breakup, Dr. Dale even checked my ex's social media that month to make sure there were no bad signs. FWIW, I was being treated for depression and anxiety. Once that cleared up ASD1 and ADHD were identified to be the cause of my virtually life-long depression and occasionally social-phobia level anxiety. Today I know I have a healthy brain. I have experienced the triggers and easily moved on from them. I'm more creative and balanced. Since seeing Dr. Dale my sluggish life has started to transform, I snagged a dream job after years of interviews, I have become financially secure for the first time in my 34 years of life, better than I'd ever have imagined. I used to be a heavy drinker and today I don't even crave it when I'm around drinking. I am comfortable and no longer feel the *need* I used to feel in almost any social or public environment. When I do crave beer it is like someone turned off whatever that switch was that made me drink them so quickly and in college-life quantity. I usually forget forget I opened a beer halfway through! My psychiatrist was knowledgeable, understanding, and helpful. I was manually paying my standard balance each month. And the office people were great. But this place changed in early 2025. Suddenly, my psychiatrist of 4 years was gone, I started getting auto-billed really high amounts I'd never seen before with no explanation, and I was matched with a new psychiatrist I did not choose for myself. I was done when my balance showed $100 right before an appointment--an amount I've seen countless times before. I didn't pay it ahead of time, so they cancelled my appointment, which is completely understandable. But a few days later, I went to pay that $100 balance, and it had jumped to $400. Mind you, I hadn't had an appointment in those few days, the office told me there would be no late fees applied, and my medication was not refilled. How does my typical $100 balance suddenly soar to $400. I have never been charged that much before, so I checked my payment history and it was wiped clean. Why could I not see my previous statements all of the sudden, when I was able to for the past 4 years? I was going to call the office about it, but remembered when I called and asked about odd amounts they auto-charged me for in the past, they were rude, defensive, and wouldn't explain those strange charges. Keep in mind that for four years, my insurance did not change and I made consistent manual payments without a single issue. So recap: out of nowhere, my psychiatrist was gone without a word. They start auto-charging my card without my consent and prior notification--and the amounts are astronomically higher than anything I've paid over the last few years. On another note, the office people who answer the phones are just so awful to deal with. They're always angry, dismissive, not helpful, and rude to the patients for no reason. (I can only assume they're fed up because their phones are ringing off the hook due to all of their company's mistakes, billing discrepancies, sketchy practices, and lack of communication with patients) But office people, do not take your frustrations out on the patients, look at the bigger picture: the company you work for is causing all of these issues that you then have to deal with over the phones. I can only hope most of them are getting new jobs at a reliable company or health group, because they are not having a good time at Anew Era. Don't go here :)

I'd never heard of group therapy outside of a rehab setting, but the combination of individual attention and working with others in a group has made it easier for me to recognize how my own reactions are received in others. Going to Deep Eddy feels so indulgent because I am taking the time solely for working on myself. However, the time I spend here has improved my outlook, my self image, my attitude, and every single relationship in my life. I really only needed them to manage 4 medications (lithium, Quetiapine, lamotrigine and propranolol) no controlled substances. The dosages were already figured out. All the work had already been done for them. I also listed a bunch of other PRNs that I had tried while in treatment that i wasn't currently taking. Again no controlled substances, they were trazadone, gabapentin, hydroxyzine. I've been a RN for over 12 years, I was the supervisor on the first acute care floor in central tx to take on covid. The first wave really did a number on me that caused a lot of my PTSD. Anyway, what im trying to say is I tell people when they haven't been honest with me, to avoid being resentful toward them. When I tried to set up this appointment to see a PA for medication management I was denied because I was too "high acuity." What happened before that was me giving Christopher Keener some honest feedback on his response time. They wouldn't confirm the appointment until they had a credit card on file. Before I could put my husband's credit card on file I had to fill out a release of information form. Which made me feel like a criminal that had to prove my innocence. Credit card information has nothing to do with HIPAA. I have never heard or been asked to do this before. I was told I would be called as soon as it was in. I did it right away, waited, emailed to see if he received it, waited a little longer, tried to access my portal to enter the card but it hadn't been set up, I called back got someone different they said they sent him a message and he would be calling back in 20mins, it never happened that day. I wanted to get it done because I was finishing up treatment the next day and wouldn't have my phone on me. They would only hold the spot for 24hrs and i was worried I'd loose it. No attempt was made to reach out to me for clarification, no doc to doc was requested. Just a refusal. The corespondance is copied and pasted below. Notice the times. I gave him some honest feedback about response time at 11:46 and the refusal was sent at 11:52. I think somebody(Christopher Keener) may have got in their feelings and did this passive aggressive lash out. I'm really surprised that a therapist(Christopher keener) could have such thin skin. Anywho, back to the good stuff - I credit her with bringing me back from the brink - twice. I was a patient for over 4 years, and even drove quite a distance to return to Austin to be seen by her every 1-3 months for 3 of those years. What she has been able to do treatment wise with me, was worth every single penny it cost me and more. I had to find a new psychiatrist in the town I moved to eventually due to a job change that no longer allowed me the freedom to take the time to come up to Austin. However, after two different psychiatrists here in my area did FAR more harm than good for my mental health, I returned to Austin and am thankfully back to being a patient in her office. I blamed it on her training as a "Doctor of Osteopath," not a "Medical Doctor." Many people believe they are the same. My research says they are not the same. She prescribed a very old drug for my HBP and my GP changed it immediately. He questioned her competence as did I after being "fired" as a patient. Looking back, I question it too. She favors certain patients over others.

The balance is only on his account because they stopped taking his insurance and didn't let him know. She refused to take his calls or call him back until the very end of the business day. This is a psychiatry office. He hasn't had his necessary medications for months now because of how she operates this practice. Shame on her for not caring about patients.
