She also makes science based recommendations instead of following the newest fads, so she probably won't agree with the latest Dr. Oz diet or believe the "I cured my cancer with diet and exercise alone" stories. She does have a great sense of humor, and will make you feel at ease in the most awkward conversations. I love that I can email her a question and get a response usually within 24hrs, and she doesn't make me feel dumb for asking ridiculous questions. She uses an online patient records portal so I can keep track of test results and make appointments online. She can usually do same day appointments too if you you give her a call. If you need blood work she takes it herself right there in the office, so no need to wait in line at the phlebotomist office. She usually has a "wait it out" approach if she doesn't think an issue is terribly urgent, which could be off putting to some people, but I think this approach makes me feel like she is putting my needs ahead of her bank account. So far she has been right! She is a blogger (https://dinosaurmusings.wordpress.com/about/) and a writer, so you can check out some her "musings" and decide if she sounds like someone you would want to be your doctor. If you don't understand/like her sense of humor, or disagree with her philosophy, she might not be right for you. She is always warm and polite, but direct when she has something important to say...and then frequently follows up with a joke. It was such a great surprise when I realized that I still have the same patient portal, with all my records easily available. What has struck me the most is the level of communication with the staff. My care team is easily accessible via the patient portal for questions and concerns. When ordering an additional test based on blood test results, I received a call explaining why the test was requested, what it was looking for, and not to worry :-) I'm really happy with the level of care that I'm receiving.

I have had some challenging conditions for which he coordinated my treatment between several medical specialists. He diagnosed a very rare blood cancer. Most other doctors have never even heard of it. He always returns calls promptly. Always on time for your appointments. His physicals are thorough and he meets with you when finished to discuss his findings. I could go on but the fact that I've been his patient for so many years shows my confidence in him. I have always found the office staff to be attentive and very friendly. They know your name when you arrive and always ask about your family.

It wasn't always but for the past 3 or 4 years (possibly ever since Crozier was bought out?) it is a miracle if I can get someone on the phone after holding for half an hour, after which time they now force you to leave a msg or hang up. This is a problem mostly with the phone option of "other" which would include Suboxone refills, which is an important part of Feinberg's practice. Also any other narcotic refills, calling to say you're running late, insurance issues, etc. I don't ever receive a return phone call letting me know that they are working on it or got my message - I just have to call around to the 3 or 4 pharmacies that are either where I live now or uses to live for an Rx to see if it has been called in and wait a week or two to hear back about an authorization for a test- that they make at their Crozier testing centers (bow over an hour away from me in Blue Bell) unless you know to ask them to ask for a specific imaging or whatever business. The best and worst experiences I had, however, were with the after hours answering service. The first time, it was 8 or at night and I was in Atlantic City. I realized I had forgotten one of my medications (I take 9... it's understandable) and it is one that if i miss by only a few hours I have incredibly scary and uncomfortable side effects from. We called the office and the woman who answered, an after hours answering service worker, went above and beyond for me. She somehow got in touch with Dr. F and I was able to make it with 30 seconds to spare at the pharmacy. That was years ago. A couple months ago, instead of my thyroid medication I take 50mcg of, I was given an Rx of the thyroid medication I take 5mcg of in a 50mcg dose. The generic names are almost identical. I had been taking it for a few days before I realized and was really freaked out about it. They had closed the office at 4 that day (a holiday Friday so Tuesday was the next time the office would be open) so I got the after hours person. I was literally crying, realizing I hadn't been taking my medication for close to a week and had been taking 20x the amount of the other. I have no idea how this happened but I was pleading and begging with her. Could she have been nicer? Yes. Was what happened her fault? No. She said she was not allowed to contact the doctors unless it was life and death and that she would get fires otherwise. Quite a policy change.

I now see Dr Costabile, my husband sees him and my son who is mentally challenged sees him. We were all once Dr. Lawler's patients. I never thought we would find someone as good, kind and caring as Dr. Lawler. We had our first visit. I was immediately impressed. I never saw Dr Costabile before that that day.. I was amazed at how he was aware of my health history, listened to me and my concerns. He must have reviewed my complete medical files. He talks as if he had known me and been my Dr for years! He never hesitates when he thinks I need an x-ray or MRI or anything extra. As I said, my son is mentally challenged. At times he can be a bit much. He doesn't like change but he was very comfortable with Dr Costabile. He is very good with him very empathetic and understanding. I would highly recommend Dr Costabile to anyone. I had thought that if I didn't like the new doctor, I would switch to someone near where I live, we used to live in KOP. We now live in Lansdale so it's a little drive for us however , I was so impressed with Dr Costabile. We decided to stay with him. The ride is well worth it. I can't say enough about how wonderful Dr Costabile is. I so appreciate his professionalism knowledge and kindness. Also the staff there is amazing. Very welcoming and helpful!
