Before my wife and I started using Pioneer Dental and Dr., we had been to various other dental offices that were recommended by friends and the dental association. It turned out that Dr. B's services, professionalism and customer care far extends beyond any other dentist I have experience in my lifetime. My wife and I have been going to Dr. B. for 30 plus years now and we absolutely love his care and services. He is the BEST dentist I have ever experienced in my lifetime. He shows real concern for us and treats us like his own family and does this with the utmost professionalism. Dr B is a very friendly and professional person who also shows the best concern and care for his patients. He has the best skill set I have ever seen and he makes us very comfortable. That is saying something since most people fear going to the dentist. When we started using Pioneer Dental and Dr. B 30 plus years ago my children were small. Dr. B. cared for them and he allowed them to sit in the office while my wife and I were having dental work performed. He let them watch so that they would learn to NOT be afraid of the dentist. It worked well. When Dr. B tells you he will never hurt you, He means it. He has done lots of dental work on me including root canals and he has never caused any pain. What a wonderful Dentist he is. I have referred others to him and they all love his services and care. I should have check the reviews before coming here! All the 1 star reviews are valid - Our experience was not much different from theirs. It's clear the general dentist and orthodontist do not communicate. My son has a rotten tooth that will need to be extracted and it was not noticed a week prior when he was there for dental cleaning. The orthodontist was rude and did not look at his file to see what had been done the prior week. When I called him out on it, as he was asking US about what was done last visit, I asked him to please look at my son's file. He rudely walked away to "go see" as if inconveniencing him. He also made my son feel guilty for not pulling out his teeth! by questioning him why he doesn't pull out his teeth - since his adult teeth are growing on top of his baby teeth. Really?!? Ok, lets be honest here. I'm TERRIFIED of the dentist as it is and well after reading every awful review that was on here, I was thisclose to canceling my appointment. BUT, my aunt, uncle and co-worker are clients of this office and well, the pain in my jaw was lingering so I decided to just go ahead and go. Well. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a warm office assistant whom I immediately asked if the dentist was patient with scared patients. Her reply was sincere that he was patient and understanding to each case; despite her response, I must admit I was still skeptical (especially with the sound of drills going on in the background). The facility is fairly small and totally has the "dentist" office smell. They have video game consoles and each dental area has its own flat screen tv. They have an adequate sized lobby with some comfy sofas. So, finally x-rays and meeting Dr. Binafard... Upon meeting him, I knew then and there that the reviews I had read were off. He wasn't difficult to understand, and he wasn't this money hungry beast (how I envisioned him after the reviews). If anything, quite honestly - I felt informed and cared after. He took the time to explain what I had (TMJ) and answered all my questions without any hesitation or annoyance (And believe me, I have questions for days). He did not make me feel pressured at any point on what option I wanted to choose for my TMJ treatment. And I not once felt like he was trying to make money off of me. If anything, he seemed sincere with my best interest in mind. Additionally, in regards to his dental assistant that performed my cleaning, she was very nice and patient with me as well. I can honestly say both her and the dentist consistently asked how I was doing during the cleaning. I felt like they took care of me, and quite honestly? Tried to charge me $1,900 for a crown and root canal when it should of been $1,100 for both with my insurance. I had to call my insurance and then they finally took the extra $800 off my bill. I only chose this place since I was in serious pain at the time and this dentist was the only one in the area open late and on Saturdays. Two years later, my crown fell off during some vigorous chewing and they managed to cement it back on within 30 minutes including wait time. I had to go on Thursday as an emergency patient cause I had the worst toothache ever!!! This dr. is good! I walked in at 7:55 pm, mind u they close at 8, and got treated. I needed a root canal stat!!! Dr. waited for me to fill out my paperwork, he was actually on his way out, and did a great job! I took pain med only Friday and I have no need for meds.. Story short.... My family and I have come to this dentist ever since I moved to the city of Norwalk (2001) and we have had no problems... I really hate to say this, but this place is awful! I used to bring my kids here. Never again!! Dr. B's office is always packed! Like he has several make shift rooms with someone already in there and he's running around from patient to patient. If you notice the video game consoles in his pictures, they aren't on. Of all the times I've been there, I've only seen one turned on. Once. You're better off playing games on your phone! As for the front office, there is one there that always appears to have an attitude if you arrive there later in the day. Guaranteed! The other front office staff are usually nice but this particular one usually answers the phone and signs everyone in. Anyone that has ever been there to an afternoon appointment knows who I'm talking about! I know this review sounds a little harsh but check this out and you be the judge. My youngest at the time was about 4 or 5 and she had a tooth that was bothering her. I called to make an appointment and was fortunate enough to get ole Grumpy on the line. The earliest they had was midday. Since my kid was in severe pain, I took it. I had to take time off work to see them since they hardly ever have any Saturday slots open. Finally get there, Grumpy of course was there and has us wait for about 45 minutes. Mind you this whole time, my kid is squeezing my hand because she doesn't want to show that she's in severe pain. We finally get into a room and wait for almost another 10 minutes before Dr. B sees her. Looks in my kids mouth and says its fine. Since it's a baby tooth, it didn't matter cause it was going to fall out anyway. I told him that she's in a lot of pain. Dr. B said just to give her ibuprofen. Really??? I took time off work for this??? I spent more time in the waiting room than with the doctor!! Needless to say, that was the last time I took my kids there. I ended up finding a new dentist and after their first check up, they had all kinds of problems! All things that Dr. B could've seen and treated if he had only taken the time to see. But Dr. B claimed their teeth were "fine." Avoid this place at all costs!!! read more

I don't recommend this dentist at all. I waited 45 minutes to be called in. I got my x-rays immediately and again waited to see Dt. Binafard. He introduced himself and said everything looks good without looking into my mouth. He looked into my mouth for a about 5 seconds and said someone will be in to clean my teeth. The technician came in and only cleaned my bottom front teeth for a 3 minutes then started to polish all my teeth sloppily. She did not clean any of my other teeth. This is the absolute worst dentist that I have ever been to. The front desk lady is the worst attitude women I've ever met. I have three young ones still going thru treatment. The wait time is over two hrs always. And it's always overcrowded, hot, no seating. The TV runs playing rated R DVDs and when asked to turn them off the front desk women just rolls her eyes. The treatment to my children was awful, at one point a member of his staff asked my daughter, who Is 12, if he can perform her cavity fill, and I said well are you a dentist?? And he said well I'm not doctor Benefard !! And I said well if your trained to do the job then do it. If not then you shouldn't be working here , they are crooks , only supposedly can fill 1 cavity per month , only one visit per month. We have HMO and this was only choice near us. But we have now moved dentist . This experience was horrible for my wife as well as the doctor speaks very low to women as he feels very superior to women, my wife did not deserve this treatment, our kids will not be put thru this horrible experience any longer. Our experience was not great! First, the front office staff was rude. Second, this 'Doctor' did a root canal on my 12 year old and finished it in 15 minutes. I addressed why so fast and why was he jamming at her mouth. His answer was 'that he had been doing this for a long time that's why he was quick'. Sealed her up and off he sent us. Took her to another dentist and said it was a poor job especially since her gums are not mature. Plus she had an infection and didn't seal up the root canal right! I came here to get a root canal done and they were so rushed in the office that they didn't do it right and also left an instrument in my tooth so when I went to another dental office they showed me X-rays and told me that I still had an infection in it and an instrument stuck in it which means I have to get redo the whole procedure which is horrible because I have to go through the pain again! I have been a patient of Dr. B, since mid 90's and I will always be his patient. He told me that he was going to give me a reason to smile and he did just that- a beautiful smile is why I keep coming back. I don't know why people write these bad reviews because I have never felt so comfortable, confident and exhilarating after visiting a dentist as I do with Dr. Binafard. I have lived in Orange County since 2001 and I will travel From as far as Mission Viejo, in traffic, to see the best cosmetic dentist I know. I went to 3 other dentists in my area but the treatment, care and final workmanship on my teeth does not compare. The girls in the front office, all the technicians that work in this office are professional yet friendly, every single time I visit. I just got off the phone with his attorney which called me to intimidate me because I am tired of the lies and the run around.... Well. I admit I called 2 of his offices and left a message to have him call me back to discuss the damage to my sons teeth. At any rate he asked me what I needed from him I asked for all his dental assistants names. DR. Binafard became irate and told me it was none of my business who worked in my mouth. He advised me if the dental board calls then maybe he will give them the information. He told me do not ever call me again or contact any of his offices or you will hear from my attorney. I have not thought about calling him again he is a low life, gutter-bug, feeding off the bottom of the ocean. He knows he is no good as a dentist so he has to ensure that he can fraudulently bill and if he gets caught then he just gives the money back. That is all he and the staff say we gave the money back. I have gone on my way, but Low and behold two days later after our last conversation, his attorney friend Jack Zakaria (WHICH IS THE SPELLING HE GAVE ME TWICE, and he is on the internet with Jack Zakariaie) called and the first thing out of his mouth, he is my friend and don't call him, I told this bum attorney, I have not called his offices anymore since we poke 2 nights ago. He said well good, he asks me what the problem is and then talks over me obviously they think everyone is beneath them. I tried to explain my situation, he talks over me again and says don't tell me anything you put in the letter you sent to him; he stated he had read all the letters I sent and the letters from the ins. company.YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY, BIRD OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER. Again I thought WTH, I asked him if your legal assistant filed paperwork and performed services not in her scope of practice what would he do? This BUM tells me I would say sorry to the client and see if there was any harm done. Essentially he is telling me anyone can do anything they want just say sorry and that is fine. He asks what damages happened to you? WHAT damages happened to your son. He has the same mentallity that DR.BIN-A-FART does, he asked what money did you oay out of pocket. I told him it is not just about the additional money, I have to pay, it is the fact he is doing illegal things in his office, and causing problems. I really want him made to follow state board guidelines. I made the mistake and did not go to my regular dentist and tried to change. It has been loads of problems, I have never had the thought of looking at my teeth or my sons teeth behind my dentist of 27 years. Do not go to this dentist, I would say if he is the only option go to another state. Personally I feel he is a disgrace to the dental field. Look at the other reviews, all for billing and subpar work. Oh, and his charting is so bad and scribbled the dental staff could not make any sense of what services were performed. He charts like that so he can say what suits the situation. HE IS NOT APART OF THE ADA, because they have standards that he won't follow. But he only refunded my money after my husband (an attorney) wrote a demand letter. I called Pioneer Dental over and over and they kept giving me the run-around. I went here a couple of years ago in a lot of pain with no insurance. I told the front desk I was in a lot of pain and she told me they would see me right away... Finally 2 hours later of holding back tears they finally call me in and take x rays and tell me that I need a root canal. I asked if they could give me some anesthesia or anything to kill the pain while I fill out the paperwork and they refused. I had to run a credit check to see if I would qualify for payments when I didn't ( because I had insufficient credit not bad credit) I had to call my mother for her to give them her credit card number over the phone. Finally after three hours of waiting I got treated. They didn't care that I had been in pain for hours. They did a crappy job and I had to get it redone by another dentist about 3 months later. I should of written this review a long time ago... In 1992, I searched through the 1800 Dentist call service for the best cosmetic dentist in my area (at that time, it was Norwalk). I chose Dr. Binafard (Dr. B for short) and it was the best decision I made. I had veneers done and Dr. B's work was 'thee' absolute best! Dr. B helped me smile with confidence and I felt like a brand new person. He is a professional, funny and friendly dentist. Back then, I didn't have insurance, but I paid him in cash- no problem! No one likes to visit the dentist but I always felt comfortable and at ease with Dr. B and his staff. Some years later, when I moved to Orange County, I decided to see a different dentist in my area. Biggest mistake I made! After about 12 years, I needed to fix a chip and a cracked veneer. The other dentist couldn't duplicate Dr. B's work. I was upset and I felt cheated. If you are an HMO patient don't even bother coming to this scam artist. From the moment I stepped foot into this office I was told that it was $50 for an emergency visit. When I called to make the appointment the receptionist never disclosed that there was an extra fee. I asked when I would be seen had a I made a regular appointment and she said November. I could not believe my ears... 4 months to see a dentist. I paid the amount because I really need to have my tooth seen but I also told her that I had some sores in my mouth and could he look at those too. She said yes. I figured if I was going to be seen I should get everything looked at once I was there. Once I was called the dentist never took an x-ray or even looked at my tooth. He started to rattle off amounts for crowns and then I asked what about the sores... He said I cannot look at those today you will have to make another appointment. I told him that his receptionist had said he would look at them and he rattle off that I had gum disease and that would be about $200 for each quadarant... approximately $500 for gum treatment and $550 for the crown. Mind you that he never even examined me or took x-rays. He just busted out his calculator and said that people who chose HMO insurance just don't know what they are signing up for... I have never been treated like this. I will be reporting them to my insurance as well as the better business bureau. read more

I'm so upset with finding out this dentist wasn't so great after all. I took in my 7yr old, because she was complaining of a tooth ache, after all the swelling and pain she was having, I noticed her tooth had cracked under her cavity. He told me it wasn't broken, she was just experiencing normal pains from teeth growing and sent us home. After 3 weeks she had an abscess on her gum and was still in pain, I took her back and he said nothing I can do until the swelling goes down, in three days should be gone, gave her antibiotics and sent us home. After 3 days she had no relief. I decided to get a second opinion and took her into a new dentist, who immediately, opened the abscess And drained it, and scheduled an extraction. I asked why he thought this dentist would ignore this, he simply told me, money. "I, nor he will get payed for this procedure, but I'm here to help your child"... If he would have looked at her xrays properly the first time we could have avoided this. I'm so sad a dentist let my child suffer for a month. Please go else where. read more
