My experience was terrible. Rude office staff. The dentist recommended unnecessary and excessive dental procedures. This was not required when I asked for a second opinion from someone else. They also refused to return my x-rays, as of this writing I never got them. I feel like I was almost scammed and it feels like to me they prioritize profits over patient. I scheduled an appointment after calling the Wilshire office and leaving a couple messages and not hearing back. The third time I called a voice message notified that the office was closed and referred me to this Santa Monica location, so I called and scheduled an appointment for a dental cleaning. They only had the afternoon available; I asked to be seen in the morning and they said they had nothing at all, "but we'll call you if something comes up." It didn't so they didn't. Today when I arrived for my appointment the receptionist got busy on her computer and after a few minutes said they no longer accepted my insurance. She offered to switch my insurance to a type they accepted but it would take 3 or so weeks, so either way I wouldn't be seen today. The trip was wasted. I suggested they notify patients on the phone to save the inconvenience of an unnecessary visit, but they told me "we have hundreds of patients and can't call them all." I left it at that, but if the office reads this, let me reiterate my suggestion that when a returning patient calls to schedule an appointment, part of the protocol should be to determine whether his insurance is accepted. After all this information is surely in the system and at your fingerprints. You don't need to call all former patients, only those who call you. This will save the aggravation and the uncomfortable office visit I had today. It's just as well. I've changed my insurance and will seek out a new dentist. As it was at the Wilshire office in six years of visits I was treated by three different practitioners, none of whom made the switch to the Santa Monica location, so Dr. Nikjoo would have been number four - at an office that bears his name! And if the state of the office is any indication of the dental work provided, the smears on the walls and cracks in the drywall are not a good sign. Maybe after doing a drywall repair and repainting part of my own home I am more sensitive to esthetics. Anyway, the girls behind the counter were nice enough, but if they schedule a few more unqualified patients for aborted visits it's a sure way of earning a lot of negative reviews. I went here looking for help after being traumatized by western dental. But they don't check on clients or call back. Last time I went they said I needed procedures done and said they'd call but never did. And having to go back and forth there is a hassle for me. Also, I've been waiting on an approval but it's been about 2 months now, and I fear I've been waiting too long cause I depended on this and it's getting worse. now I will have to find someone that will care to help me. I wish la dentist would care about the patients enough to at least let me know if they can do it or not. I wish they would return their voicemails or even answer so I could get the help I need. Came to his dental office several years ago for a dental check up and cleaning. Dr. Nik did do a decent job with the teeth cleaning however when examining my teeth he stated I had two cavities that I need to get filled. A bit upset, but oh well. I then go to the receptionist who hands me a detailed bill on what it would cost to have those two cavities fixed. She states that my insurance will not cover the cavities and I would have to pay out of pocket. I went home and called the insurance company and then did a three way call so the representative could explain that in fact I was covered. They then LIED switched the teeth and said that it was on two different teeth that already had fillings and therefore it would not be covered... Since that visit, it has been close to three years later and four different dental visits and still no cavities... Stay Far Far away from these crooks. read more

1. If you read other reviews, you'll see that he had bad Yelp reviews, so made a new Yelp page to start fresh. I'd say that is pretty dishonest for someone in a "helping" profession, in particular. 2. The first time I made an appointment, I was called LESS than 24 hours in advance to tell me my appointment was canceled because, "The office is closed tomorrow." If you read other reviews, you'll see this is common practice for this office. Customer service is clearly not a priority 3. This guy will try to sell you every unnecessary dental treatment, gadget, procedure in the world to make a profit. I've been here 3 times, wanting to give it a fair shot, and every time he wants to rope me into something that no other dentist has ever told me I needed. Shady AF. 4. The first time I walked into Dr. Nikjoo's office, I was impressed by its professional decor and the courteousness of his staff. But the pleasantness of my experience ended there. On my second visit, he began up-selling me to different procedures. Never in my life during a visit to the dentist have I been made to feel so scared and uncomfortable. A couple of these procedures had never even been mentioned by my previous dentists. I have no current health conditions and routinely visit the dentist 2 to 3 times a year. When I told him I couldn't afford the amount he was quoting, he assured me that he would "work with me," and that he would "take care of me." I felt nervous signing various forms that his billing coordinator Maria put in front of me since I noticed the *fine print* at the bottom saying I was responsible for whatever amount the insurance didn't pay. She told me that these forms were "standard" and that they could not proceed without a signature. She said that I would just pay that day's quoted amount and they would take care of the rest. I wanted to trust Dr. Nikjoo and his staff, so I signed. Little did I know that "work with me" meant he would repeatedly overcharge my insurance and "take care of me" meant he would foot me the rest of the bill. Please note that this is despite my ALREADY PAYING the day of my procedure for what he quoted as my TOTAL responsibility. I had to borrow money from a loved one just to pay everything, including even for part of my routine care! Quite frankly, I am SHOCKED that Dr. Nikjoo's rating is not lower considering my miserable experience with him. From now on, I will be cautious of any business that has an abundance of mostly 1- and 5-star ratings. My only caveat is that I think he is *probably* a competent dentist, but just greedy for money. I will not be coming back. I had also referred my friend to his office after my first visit, but that is a recommendation I have since rescinded. 1 star to Dr. Nikjoo for his fraudulent business practices. If anyone doubts the authenticity of my review, I invite you to read through his other 1- and 2-star reviews and come to your own conclusion. I went there over a year ago, with a chipped molar. He told me he would need to go through and extensive set of procedures, but first he would need to do a deep cleaning. The deep cleaning left my head throbbing for about a month, I even went to the hospital. The whole procedure to fix my tooth was budgeted in over 3000 USD, and he did not offer any other choice, I had been to many Dentists during my lifetime, one of which is a very good friend of my family, she mentioned how he was overpricing me by offering the most expensive alternative, when there are many cheaper options. Not to mention it was the front desk lady who walked me through the costs, she was real nice and helpful, unlike the Doctor. However, when I mention that I did not have that kind of money, they never offered a cheaper alternative. Be aware that all of this is WITH insurance, according to his costs, without insurance it would be about 10,000 bucks. I cannot complain about the service, but I never felt like he even cared about my health. read more

I used to be faithful to Newport Dental in Hollywood because that was the only dentist I knew after my childhood dentist. I left Newport Dental because the customer service was horrible and the dentist I loved for many years found employment elsewhere. I began to search the internet for a new dentist and I also asked my friend (who has immaculate teeth) where she went to get her teeth checked. She recommended Dr. Nikjoo and I immediately made an appointment. The good thing is I was able to get an appointment on a Saturday morning. The wait was less than 15mins and Dr. Nikjoo was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. He showed me the proper way to floss (as I was doing it incorrectly) and I did not feel like I was being scolded at. I can understand his concern for people who do not floss (who wants gingivitis?). The simple act of flossing can greatly improve your overall dental health. --He told me my orthodontist did a great job with my braces because my teeth have hardly shifted in the past 10 years. Dr. Nikjoo is an amazing USC dentist and he's a genius. He is the kindest man I've ever met. The best dentist too! The people in his office are so cheerful and beautiful, the office is beautiful and I love going there. It's a really upscale experience and I can't believe they take my crummy insurance! The doctor and the staff are just amazing and you will love them! The dental work they do is unparalleled! I had a tooth that had such a deep cavity that anyone else would've done a root canal. I had the best experience with Dr.Nikjoo. I suffer from extreme anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist. Not having insurance made things even worse. I have been in excruciating pain for the past week because of cavity on my lower tooth and I've been searching all over for a Dentist with reasonable prices, but didn't find anyone I could actually afford. I did a google search and found Dr. Nikjoo on Yelp and I saw his prices were very reasonable so I gave him a call and ask for earliest appt. The receptionist was very sweet and squeezed me in the same day to get some Xrays done. I had my cavity taken care off immediately and did not suffer from any anxiety because of Dr. Nikjoo's sensitive nature. I am so grateful that I found Dr.Nikjoo. I will always recommend him. Dr Nikjoo is a breath of fresh air in a city that is all about profit & really about ripping people off. It was back in February this year when my son needed his wisdom tooth pulled & was in severe pain. Not only was Dr Nikjoo gentle, but he gave me an amazing discount realizing that I am a widow who earns minimum wage. I do not know one American Dr who would have done this for my son & who allows people in my position to make monthly payments. I made an appointment for a routine check up/cleaning at this office. The receptionist (who is a simpleton) scheduled me for Monday at noon. I showed up for my appointment and the door was locked! I knocked on the door and I could hear voices inside but no would open. I called the office and their vm says they are open Monday from 9-5, even though I was standing outside of a locked door at noon...ON A MONDAY! I left a vm asking for an call back with and explanation and I never received one. This staff is unprofessional, inept and clearly they don't care at all about upsetting new patients. Questionable abilities and unnecessary up-sells. Went in for a procedure to rebuild a tooth and had to go back three times for shaping and they never did get it right. The staff isn't terribly welcoming and seem to be more about trying to charge credit cards than provide quality dental care. The last time I went in for a free cleaning and they tried to up-sell me to a procedure for hundreds of dollars that a second opinion said was unnecessary and potentially damaging to my teeth. AND they never gave me the cleaning. Mainly because of Yelp reviews this seemed like the best option in my new plan. I felt more like I was in a shady mechanic shop than a dentist's office. It's aesthetically well set up and they have free water bottles in the waiting room, but you have to ask if it's cool to take one as no one offers. read more

After seeing Dr. Nikjoo for over a year I had an appointment and it got cancelled right before I was to go. I made another appointment and that got cancelled as well the day before I was to come in. Then I made a 3rd appointment showed up and no one was in the office, this was the second time that this happened. I called and left a message for Dr. Nikjoo to return my phone call and he never did. I will never go to another dentist again! I call Ebi my dental angel because he is such a saint! I had a really terribly infected root canal, the pain was so excruciating (I've researched the pain and apparently it's worse than pregnancy...) I nearly blacked out. Dr. Ebi was kind enough to see me on such short notice for my emergency tooth infection and cleaned out my infection until I can schedule a root canal. He was so gentle with my teeth, I am no longer scared to go to the dentist the pain dissipated immediately and the swelling was very minimal! He was so gentle putting in my numbing shots, I couldn't believe I could barely feel it in my gums! There are 3 different profiles created for Dr Nikjoo... Perhaps another profile was created when the ratings started falling down? This profile also underlines that your friends can also write your Yelp review. So shocked that people in some of the reviews would mention over and over the willingness of Dr Nikjoo to work for people without insurance, thus painting this place as a fair and uninterested practice. The specialty here is to push for unnecessary treatments, and charge your insurance company. My favorite? The Sleep Apnea study: if you snore/grind your teeth/doesn't sleep soundly, you might have sleep apnea. The assistant will sell it to you as a "free service". A take a home test is mailed to you. Your insurance company will be billed $6000 for this service. It is a total scam!!! In terms of the services themselves, the overall performance was poor, and required for another dentist to redo Dr NIkjoo's work after only 3 months.... Nice work indeed. read more

Before seeing Dr. Nikjoo I had not seen a dentist in years and I knew that it was time for me to go as I was experiencing some discomfort. Dr. Nikjoo made me feel at ease and comfortable. He thoroughly walked me through all of the procedures. My experience with Dr. Nikjoo was incredibly pleasant and I plan on seeing him regularly. First visit- had to wait TWO AND A HALF HOURS . Omg. Then was told that it will be nearly 2000$ for a simple removal of Invisalign buttons.. seriously? How did they come up with that price ? No idea. 10 minutes later they dropped it to 850. Ridiculous.... walked out of there and went couple floors up and got it done at another office right away for 100$ cheaper and without any wait. Unfortunately, I got assigned by my insurance to that office so I had no other choice but to go there again for cleaning 2 weeks later. Worst cleaning ever... dentist literally gave me 2 minutes of her attention and was in a rush.. I never had cleaning done in 3 minutes. Of course there were no results from that cleaning either and I'll have to go and do it else where and pay out of pocket. Avoid at all cost.
