If I could give this jerk a -5... he let my teeth rot in my mouth so he could do implants.. metal filling need to be changed out every 8-10 years.. mine had decay and a fracture with pain.. he ignored it and laughed it off..he never did repeat X-rays to see why I had pain.. also dental rads every 2 years.. Been seeing Dr Kashfian for years. First in the Redondo Beach office in the Hollywood Riviera area and now at his nice office in Torrance. Started using him due to our insurance changes years back. Been very happy with the Dental care we have received. My wife has gotten dental implants and she was happy with results and will have more dental work soon unfortunately. Dental cleaning has been great recently but in the past wasn't always the best as he has many new hygienist starting out in his office. They all did a good job but some made you wet and never experienced that before. Writing this review after coming home from his office today. Dr. Kashfian and his staff are the best. So when I first moved to LA, I went to him in his office close to where I live. His office moved, and he was so wonderful, I followed him and drive 20 miles. 20 miles for a dentist. You know they're wonderful. Then my insurance changed and they tried to send me to someone else. I went to someone else ONCE. They tried to get me to have unnecessary root canals (mind you, I keep up with my teeth), put me under for a deep cleaning, etc. thousands of dollars. Nope. I personally just changed my insurance, went back to Dr. Kashfian and asked him if any of this was needed. I needed a partial crown. That's all. And he teaches other people how to make crowns, so it's perfect. He's a gem of a human being, and amanda at the front desk is the best. Whole staff is. I had been going to Dr. Kashfian for about 20 years. Then about 2 years ago, I joined a medical HMO and was offered a limited list of dentists. Unfortunately Dr. Kashfian wasn't on their list. I tried two different dentists who were on the list but the experience was so bad I've been going back to Dr. Kashfian ever since. He's honest, caring and extremely experienced in his field. Here's what happened to me and it may happen to you too. To my shock the other two HMO recommended dentists have an "office manager" who's actually a slightly high pressure sales person. Both of these so called officer managers tried to sell me other procedures such as gum irrigation which were going to cost a lot more money than teeth cleaning. One of them was recommending things that would have cost me thousands. One of the two didn't scrape scale off my teeth and only polished them with the little spinning rubber thing. When I asked about scraping scale off my teeth, they said that would cost something like $150 per quadrant for deep cleaning. In other words $600 additionally to have my teeth cleaned properly! So I went back to my trusted Dr. Kashfian for his opinion. He said, "There's nothing at all wrong with your teeth and gums." Apparently the new thing with dentists is to have the office manager sales person try to pressure you into spending money on various preventive procedures to run up the bill. I think it's somewhat criminal. I can assure you that you can rely on Dr. Kashfian to give you honest recommendations for what is only really necessary and he will do whatever is needed at a reasonable price. Dr. Kashfian's hygienist did a complete deep cleaning including scaling, water-jetting (sorry I don't know the technical terms for these things) and polishing for a regular low teeth-cleaning price. There's no up-selling at his office. Beware of these new young dentists who have less experience than Dr. K and who may try to rip you off! In addition he's an extremely nice man with a terrific and compassionate bedside manner. I never knew trust was such a big problem with dentists these days until I had the experiences I just told you about and then went back to Dr. Kashfian. I'll never go anywhere else again. If you ever get a questionable sales pitch from another dentist, you should immediately go to Dr. K for a second opinion. He will absolutely set you straight. In addition I recently referred my young actress friend to him for some cosmetic dentistry. His work on her teeth was beautifully done. Finally his large new office suite at the base of Palos Verdes has a verdant view of a hillside to enjoy when you're sitting in the dental chair. I'm a real patient and not a paid writer. Being fortunate to have my father as my dentist for the first 28 years of my life, it was very frustrating to see how shady other dentists are. Finally I was referred to Dr. Kashfian's office. I visited his redondo beach location several times while living in the south bay. His hygienists are amazing! They cleaned off all the stains and residue, which was left from my braces a few years back. Not only excellent work, but the waiting time us usually 2-5 minutes, and the standard cleaning takes usually less than 30 minutes. While his office was in L.A., I visited his Century City office. Same great service, and he even validated my valet parking! He has since moved his office to South Torrance, on the corner of Hawthorne Blvd and Rolling Hills Rd. The Century City office closed some time ago, which is the only reason why I am no longer a patient. read more

Where to begin? Dr. Kafashian is far from trustworthy. Little did I know one tiny visit would turn into 8 months of agony... I went in with a large chip in my back tooth. When Dr. Kafashian came in, he said everything looked fine. I had to bring to his attention the gaping hole in my tooth. That should have been my first hint to just say "thank you" and leave. But instead, I trusted him to place a crown over my tooth. BAD IDEA. Let's just say he charged me almost $900 claiming insurance wouldn't cover it (which it did). I told him repeatedly I had major sensitivity in my tooth, which he insisted would go away. Well, it didn't and I was stuck with a permanent crown over a tooth severely in need of a root canal. I had a really excellent, positive experience with Dr. Kashfian. I saw him at his Century City office, walking distance from where I work. I knew I'd need some pretty extensive work, based on what my dentist in Orlando told me. But after getting my x-rays done, Dr. Kashfian said I only needed one crown and one filling. All the other fillings weren't necessary; just stains that they wanted to fill for cosmetic reasons. I really like Dr. Kashfian's honesty. He's a very good communicator and explained all the procedures beforehand. He's really good with the Novocaine. My experience was pain free, even though my crown was incredibly deep and close to the nerve. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was that I had some issues with the front office regarding my copays. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I was always charged a much higher copay than what my insurance plan listed. I would call them out on it, and everything would be cool. So be prepared to get your insurance company involved to "clarify" things ahead of time. But this could be an issue with my insurance vs. the front office. Like I said, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Again, great dentist. Great experience. Really nice, high quality work. read more

We have an insurance plan and this dentist was our selected dentist. I had a need for a cavity to be filled and was told that it was $98 for the filling with our insurance so i checked with insurance and was told it was to be $18 which they argued with me at the dentist office but finally agreed to honor their contract price. My wife needed a crown which they told her it was not covered so she went to another dentist and had the work done (it was covered) I chipped a tooth yesterday so i went to the dentist. i was told I needed a crown but the insurance would not cover it because it was chipped and not a result of decay. I was quoted $950 for the crown. I told them that this is Way above the stated rate and is ever higher then if i walked in off the street to any other dentist. I called insurance and once again they told me he is wrong and i was to file a complaint with the insurance company, which i am doing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DENTIST - He will try to pick your pocket as much as he can get away with! I WILL NEVER BE BACK IN HIS OFFICE!!!! read more

It's just so wonderful to find a fantastic dentist who is Honest and a Perfectionist. On top of that, the thought outside the box on a way to fix your problem and treat you with respect and privacy, and I was lucky enough to find Dr. Kashfian many years ago and always fallow him. I just had my two crowns done by Dr. Kashfian and couldn't stop me to write this much overdue review for him before my dinner. Stay away! This place is horrible! They over book, make you wait, before you know it it's been two hours and you've been numbed for no reason twice because the dentist is not ready yet. Then they ask you to wait 45 more minutes and then you realize you have a parking ticket waiting for you outside. The dentist was taking a nap in his office lists time I was there.
