Needed service for my Stihl string trimmer…read more Came in, met Ira the Stihl whisperer and ordered some parts. Parts arrived in a few days. Ira requested that I bring my device in for a check-up. Gave my trimmer a thorough check (set the valves, checked compression checked grease level etc.). Ira expertly installed some of the parts I ordered but after the inspection Ira determined that not all of the parts I ordered were needed. Cost for inspection, parts installation and parts I ordered but didn't use? 0 dollars! Other small engine repair places would have no doubt charged a pretty penny for the inspection and parts installation and probably the parts I didn't need- when was the last time someone in the repair business told you didn't need to spend money on a repair? Refreshing to meet someone in the service industry that is more than competent, candid and honest.

I typically really like all Ace Hardware stores - locally owned, smaller store, helpful employees,…read more etc. I had a one off experience today where I called the plumbing department. A young man put me on hold for 30 minutes and never came back to let me know if he had anything that would fit what I was looking for. He just never came back. Let me repeat: HE NEVER CAME BACK. I called back after 30 minutes and the lady who answered put me on hold, but came back within a few minutes to say: "He said that nothing we have fits." Why he left me hanging for 30 minutes was unacceptable.

Just go. You need…read moreit, they have it and you don't have to travel to Georgetown, RR or - gasp! - Austin. This is the place to go if you're anywhere from Betram to Florence to Leander; they have a ton of hardware, supplies, mulch, soil & fertilizer, as well as limited barbecue grills, a few (large!) water fountains and outside statuary& chairs and some fun stuff too. What a big place. The staff is first rate; you will not get past the first one with out a "howdy" and there's no pressure. Plan a little time to look at everything because you're going to need it. Now why not five stars? Well, my only gripe - and it's no big deal - is that it's hard to figure out what things cost. Some things - well less than half by the way - have prices you can see. The rest, especially one-off outdoor items from coolers to cookers to statuary - have "item" numbers. I guess that lets staff look prices up but how many trips do I make inside to ask 'how much is item ....?' Maybe there's a price list or something I missed but this is the only negative I've found so far. So; just go.

Great little hometown hardware store. The staff always greet you with a hello and what can we help…read moreyou with. The selection is about the same as Homedepot or Lowes just instead of having 100 boxes of something they have 2 or 3 on the self (I think this makes it easier to find and compare what you need then having a 20ft tall rack to sort through). The prices are about the same on most items. Actually on the screws and fasteners I find Keith to be a little less on the higher quality stuff. I have gotten to the point that I buy all my hardware at Keith's before I go to get building material some place else. Again this is due to the better quality of the hardware at a more affordable price. As far as covenant. I can go online and see if they have something in the store before I stop on my way home just like the bigger stores.

While asking questions about the product, it was discovered that the box for the item I wanted was not onto the shelf. The person assisting me answers some of my questions, however, they didn't have the answers for some of the most important ones and needed the box to provide that information. While the box was being located, I continued to shop. I didn't receive an update within a few minutes and saw how the workers were talking amongst themselves and looking a little goofy, I asked, "Did you find the box?!" They had not found it so I asked about the store hours and told them I'd be back tomorrow (which it today) to pick up my items. Well, I am here in the store now. I don't see any familiar faces and a sweet lady named Julia asked me is I needed assistance. I told her what I wanted and watched in the background as a conversation began between two employees who obviously knew what was going on with my particular situation. When Julia asked about the box, they had lost it and couldn't sell me what I needed, so now I'm dead in the water! Do better Ace Hardware!!
