When you really need it....They'll close. Signs on other sights that say that they are open 'till 5PM on Friday are wrong. They're open 'till 4PM. I have a picture from their door that was taken at 3:50PM that clearly shows this. Even tho they close early (and who cares how many miles and what kind of traffic you had to go through on a Friday to get there). They'll close early. If you really need it.....Find someplace that will be open. read more

Yes indeed, that will set you back 15 cents, or 30 if it's in stainless. Unlike Home Depot, they have and will sell one of anything, and if it's a nut bolt or washer, they have it. I love this place. When big corporate took over they fired all the folks that knew their business, they placed a minimum CC charge, they closed the door and forced you to order on the phone (that was long before COVID-19). Again, just the nicest, most helpful, and patient people. I needed an unusual-size replacement bolt for a repair on my car today and some fine grade sandpaper. That seems like a pretty mundane purchase, but it's such a pleasure to be treated with so much courtesy that it'll probably be one of the highlights of my week. This is the kind of business that forms the character of Austin. Well worth your time to go here rather than one of the big box stores. After visiting several auto part stores with no luck, the guys at Advanced Auto Parts kindly told me that "If Austin Bolt Company doesn't have it, you probably won't find it anywhere." Sure enough, the friendly guys at Austin Bolt Company were able to help me find a replacement screw for my car, and they were even nice enough to give me an extra one on the house in case I ever needed another replacement. Where else can you get automotive strength bolts the same day? Nowhere, except the junk yards and those places are filled with greedy money grabbers that want $5 dollars per bolt (if you are honest and want to pay for one). I just brought in my bolts and they took them back in to the warehouse and came back with great matches. Total was 1.50 per bolt and washer. I'll be back for sure. read more

Just having the variety of bolts and fasteners is not enough. Once inside the store I swear I was staring at a painting. Nothing was moving. I literally watched dust settle. I did however see an episode on the Smithsonian channel, where archaeologists recently discovered the oldest know human remains to date.. they were found at Austin Bolt. These guys rock! I ordered a coffee table from some online store and they delivered the wrong sized bolts, and what's worse they refused to send me the right ones even though I paid for it. Austin Bolts helped me find exactly what I needed. They also recommended a machine shop that would make the custom bolts for me. Don't think there are too many places like this in Austin. read more

I needed a bolt for a electric chipper/shredder I had bought. Ironically the parts across all models and brands are the same. I was missing a bolt for the blade head. The place I bought it wanted $20 to ship 2 small bolts to me. I went to the big box hardware stores who had no clue at all. I called around and found this place. They told me they had the bolts in stock. I rolled over there. There was a slight wait. Apparently I picked the best time to go pick up bolts. I was in and out in 20 minutes. Now I can fire up my chipper and get some yard work done. I will definitely be back. read more

This used to be a great place, until the original owners sold the company. That being said, make sure you know EXACTLY what you want BEFORE you get to the front counter, otherwise good luck! Bad attitudes on the phone as well. Will be looking for other alternatives to buy hardware. read more

The truth is a mix of the slow and thoughtless responses of all employees and owners to people waiting in line (sometimes 8 people deep), and the truly excellent customer service you can get 3 times out of 4. Add to that the stocking of a wide variety of parts, then you get this odd mix. If you can go elsewhere, you should. If you need something and you are patient, then... This place is fantastic. I was repairing an under-counter fluorescent fixture and needed some nuts and bolts that were smaller than anything on my bolt gauge. I had shopped at several places and found nothing. A gentleman at Home Depot suggested that I try this place. I drove right over and the had exactly what I needed. I feel like this would be a great place to buy meth or find a prostitute. But they are not a place that I would recommend conducting legitimate business with. Always closing early. So I drive from Cedar Park, show up and doors are locked and no one's there. I've tried to call early to make sure someone is there. Almost always they don't answer the phone. They have this policy where they keep their doors locked and you have to call and order ahead. As if they're scared of Covid or something. I'd be way more concerned about catching Hepatitis. The last time I was there, I knocked on the door multiple times. Front and back door. No answer. Then called multiple times. Finally got someone to pick up the phone. "Where are you guys? Can I get my order?" "Oh, where here" they say. Go back to the door. Two chicks and a dude acting like they'd been there all along. They're all kinda sweaty. Got my stuff and got the heck out of there. Bathed in hand sanitizer on the way home and immediately took a shower when I got home. Never going back. read more

I'm always looking for a cpl of nuts or bolts for my motorcycles or tools. Rarely do I need to buy anything in bulk. A friend turned me on to these guys, THEY ROCK! I have never left there empty handed, for the last two yrs. they've always had what I have needed and more, typically I have to choose which piece. Even though my personal purchases have been small (They have even given me a cpl of bolts free of charge on occasion), I have in turn sent dozens of the men and women I ride and work with there way. The service here is amazingly slow. They are getting three stars because they have a great inventory, but if there are two or three people in front of you in line, be prepared for a 30 to 45 minute wait before you can find out if they have what you need or not. After standing in line for a frustrating amount of time, it's very plausible that they will help people who came in after you because they are regular customers. Your options are to wait it out or go find your item online. I always opt to shop these hard to find items online if I have the luxury of not needing them immediately. read more
