Regardless of the teacher's personal issues, they should be required to retain a significant level of professionalism. Two, given they take pride in their approach to dance, their technique seems to be out of touch with today's reality and dance. Rather than building on a child's knowledge, there is an imposition of "classical" technique that can be disabling for a child than enabling. Three, the stuffiness of the rooms is inexcusable. All of this reflects badly on their ability to teach a child and maintain long-term working relationships with parents.

Leo made the experience totally comfortable and after 1 listen to our first dance song, started developing a routine that was really impressive. By the end of our sessions, I was confident to present our dance to our friends and family, and I didn't look like a total doofus on the dance floor! The Park Avenue Armory is a historic 19th century, Gothic Revival, military building that was…read morerestored to become an incredible NYC cultural institution. It was build in the late 1800s for a prestigious Civil War regiment... it was preserved and then became a cultural center in 2007. Make sure to enjoy the architecture, decor, art in the smaller rooms open to the public (Tiffany glass windows, turquoise tiled fireplace). The only play I've seen in this space was The Doctor. I also saw their productions of The Lehman Trilogy and Illinoise once they transferred to Broadway. Most recently i visited the Armory for the CLINEMAN installation. I spent a couple of hours watching the porcelain bowls glide across the pools of water... listening to the different pitches of their chimes.

In a weird way, it kind of makes you think, "Wait... is this place haunted?" or "What stories could these walls tell?" I've been lucky enough to see a bunch of really cool art installations here over the years, plus a few fashion shows. If you've never been, definitely check out their website to see what's going on because there's always something interesting happening. The latest installation I saw had three huge pools inside this giant wooden deck with blown glass bowls floating around on the water. The whole thing was super relaxing. Some people were taking naps, some were quietly talking with friends, and others were just sitting there watching the glass drift around and soaking in the ASMR vibes. It's such a cool example of how creative they get with the space. In my dream world, I'd get married here lol.

Nothing beats a smile on a childs face, that's when you know you're in a good place and a nurturing environment. There are different disciplines and styles for all ages. Looking forward to the recital, which I am sure will be amazing. The entire staff is amazing and respectful. The new owner Spiro is hard working and cares about everyone that walks into the studio. With Jessica helping with admin responsibilities and a teacher herself does an amazing job at keeping all the parents aware of what's going on and when. All the teachers have been working hard all year and are very dedicated - Thank you for all you do and looking forward to another year.
