We are entering our 7th year attending classes at this studio and our daughter loves coming here…read more We actually live far at least 30 minutes away and travel 5-6x a week for our daughter to train with this amazing dance family. When you walk in you're greeted by name. Victoria is always available to address any questions or concerns that may arise. My daughter has had several teachers over the years depending on which classes she took and the staff is amazing! Each take the time to help the children individually and push them at their performance level. Even after a move to Tampa several years ago, I still make the weekly drive to allow my daughter to stay at Victoria's! To respond to the previous person: As with everything, there are reasons behind it. Having been a backstage mom for several years, I can tell you it is impossible to memorize hundreds of students, their parents, and their custody arrangements. They dismiss after the recital by song, with police escort. Only those having a matching wristband to their child is able to pick up the child. The children love being backstage, and it isn't as stressful on the children as it is the parents. The recital process is thoroughly explained when you choose whether or not to participate. It is not mandatory. As far as the fees go: in any extra-curricular activity, there are fees and extras needed aside from program fees. We love it there!

I would whole heartedly not recommend this dance studio to anyone looking for toddler dance…read moreclasses. My two year old was dismissed early from her second ballet class for not participating. Instead of the teacher addressing me appropriately about the issue, she loudly shamed my two year old for not participating in her class in front of the whole waiting room of parents. Instead of a fun and engaging atmosphere, Ms. Sarah's class was dry and created a harsh atmosphere. This instructor should not be teaching toddlers after shaming my daughter and dismissing the students for lack of participation. Dance camp should be fun and engaging and my two year old should want to be there. As a paying customer we were instead instructed to leave in front of a waiting room full of parents and siblings. I will definitely not be returning to this establishment at any point. Two year olds shouldn't be shamed in front of adults and other children. As an educator myself, I'm disgusted at the interaction between the instructor and toddler students. Not all kids deserve a gold medal, but they also don't deserve to be shamed by an adult that doesn't even know their name. This situation could have been handled appropriately in a multitude of different ways. Absolutely ridiculous.

None of the girls in either of her classes I observed know their recital pieces. And April was too busy to attend their last classes. I've never seen her instruct the girls to rehearse without following her lead, but she seems indignant that they are unable to perform independently. And, in case it's not enough that she's unprofessional, she behaves very inappropriately. She has been extremely impatient with my child and has repeatedly insisted that my child needs mental health intervention, though I've obtained a professional opinion to the contrary. So April has resorted to belittling my child when the opportunity presents itself. I didn't waste the time reporting this to the owner, because she's April's aunt and, as such, is undoubtedly aware of April's limitations. This school holds itself out to be top notch, but in our experience, that designation is limited to the cost of attendance.

You know when something comes into your life at the right moment? Like the stars just align and…read more-BAM- there it is? Well, that's sort of how I see Shevon. This man is top notch - he knows his shit, he has a great vision, and he has an even better personality. Seriously, I'm a whiner about just about everything (okay, some of it is self-deprecation and hilarious) and he deals with it with total grace. He will kick your ass in the best of ways. Things will hurt or be tender the next day or two. He'll even advise you in proper jump-rope technique lest you find yourself a little too crippled the next day - and in my case high heels are off the table for a bit. I think he's amused at this recent life development, but I could be wrong. He will also mess with your head. In addition to laughing my ass off, some things that have either come out of my mouth or run through my head - "Did I just do that? Wait, he wants me to do what? I'm sure as hell I can't do that... FACK! How did I just end up here? Oh dammit... Shit this is going to suck tomorrow." He's well-trained and speaks a few different dance languages; this is how I first found the Sultan. I remember catching a couple of his performances in the area and he had this insane energy that Tampa is missing. If you want to talk about someone being magnetic, this is a prime example. I showed up to his in-home studio a couple weeks ago with no real plan other than he was going to school me in something new. I was minus my iPod and he asked if I had any music. I pulled a lone CD out and he ran with it. "Have you done any partnered dance?"... Nope! On day one I found myself getting spun around and dipped (among other things), all while making really ridiculous noises because I'm a control freak and it... Freaked me out. But hey, new experiences are good for me, right? So, I found myself dabbling in "intro to ballroom" for the first time, revisiting some flamenco, and falling back into the belly dance thing (though I haven't left it since I first started back in '07). If you want to talk about getting into fusion done correctly though... This is it. No one else in the area does what Shev does. So, what else is there to say? This isn't a weekly drop-in class; you don't just show up. If you want a regular day/time slot I'm sure he would work with you; a friend and I have started assigning Sundays to dance/ass-kicking "church" with Father Shevon (yeah, it's a terrible joke, I know). I can't help but love this new ritual in my life because it's so refreshing to work with someone so professional who can also put you at ease. Tampa doesn't know what kind of gem it has because frankly, he's too good for it.

One of the biggest highlights for me has been working with my trainer, Perry. He's knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely invested in his clients' progress. He really knows how to push you and challenge your limits in a way that still feels safe and purposeful. Honestly, there's never been a single session I've walked out of feeling like I didn't get my money's worth, learn something new, or build more confidence in my fitness goals.  Because of that, it's disappointing to hear that management may place limitations on what trainers can do. From a member's perspective, it feels like there's untapped potential. Trainers like him could be even more effective with more flexibility and support.
