I had a very disappointing experience at Dance Station in Chalmette. My husband purchased four pairs of tights for a dancer--two shimmery and two non-shimmery. The salesperson was told what was needed, including the size, yet when he got home we realized the two non-shimmery pairs were the wrong size, which was clearly an error made at checkout.
We returned to the store with the unopened packages hoping to exchange them, only to be told they do not accept refunds or exchanges. We explained that we were not asking for a refund, just a correction since the wrong size had been sold to us. We were then told it was against federal law to take them back. Even after explaining again that this was a sales mistake, the staff refused to make any exception. As a result, we were forced to purchase two additional sets of tights at full price.
This level of customer service is unacceptable. Mistakes happen, but refusing to correct an error--especially when the items are unopened and the issue originated at the point of sale--feels very unfair to customers. It would have cost them nothing to correct their mistake, but instead they stood behind their policy and lost a customer. Just imagine how much more satisfied the experience could have been with a simple correction. Now I will be sure not to recommend them to any other dancer. Experiences like this make it hard to support local businesses when there is no willingness to work with customers or acknowledge mistakes.
Unfortunately, I will be taking my future purchases elsewhere or ordering online from retailers that value their customers and stand behind their service. read more
