Holmes and their wonderful 1st floor bakery. - You brought back memories of being on-air-air from the central court of Lakeside with a WDSU live remote. - You brought back fond memories of Maison Blanche (MB)--which was always my favorite store, much to the chagrin of my mom--who often met my dad under the clock at D. H. Holmes on Canal. Of course, the funny thing is that your store was never a Maison Blanche; that was at Clearview. And I knew that when I called to check inventory because I mistakenly asked the operator if this was D. H. Holmes. :-D - You made a memory for my new bride and me to share the unique New Orleans tradition that is Mr. Bingle. But, most of all, you restored my faith in the fine people of New Orleans, which is my adopted hometown although not my birthright. People who will go out of their way for even a small sale to make something they don't understand come true for someone. People often with small pockets but truly big hearts. I've had the most ridiculous experience here I'm still in shock. My best friend and I rented tuxes…read morehere for $230 without shoes. If I'm paying this much to wear something for a single day, I think its reasonable to receive at a bare minimum: clothes that fit in good condition. Men's Wearhouse disagrees and doesn't even care. We were fitted on our day of visit and I specifically requested extra room around my neck. My tux came with a noticeable blemish / knick(?) on my pants (see picture) and I'm pretty sure my shirt was actually a dress shirt turned into a tux shirt (I may be mistaken here but I'm pretty sure the shirt shouldn't have buttons right next to where the cufflinks go) and so tight around my neck (barely buttoned by extending my neck) the shirt strangled me. My friend's shirt arrived so small he couldn't even fit into it and had to go with one of his own. When I came back to the store to return the tuxes with the above issues we faced, the manager (same person that made the order & fitted us) told me that "these are rentals and universal" and that "this is why we have the tuxes prepared two days in advance so we can overnight ship them." Did I hear that right? A formal wear store has decided that the measurements they take & the condition of the clothes they're peddling aren't important, the onus is on you to make sure the clothes will even fit, and to top it all off, absolutely no concern or even an apology from a manager for $230?

I am assuming the owner demanded that I pay her cash prior to getting my pants hemmed, and I know why. The seamstress is very rude! She charged me $16. I asked about the string tying the pants together and she waved me off and said she would fix it with the hem of the waist. I picked up the pants and the string on the pants was still stripped. She said I should have asked her about this prior to hemming the waist! She said I could go to Hobby Lobby and get string and let her steal an additional $10 of my money to actually do what I paid for in the first place. Never again! Someone needs to shut this place down by opening a place next door that actually does the work that they are paid to do!
