Unfortunately, not all girls are made of sugar and spice and bullying became such an issue that we brought it to the attention of the director. To my understanding though, these girls come from families that support the center, so the director decided to not address the issue. So after 10 years of ballet, this is how it ends. Its too bad people are so afraid of money that values get thrown out instead. Loved the school, hated the environment.

It's a great way for my kids to learn to follow instructors and practice dance. Every year they have a dance recital with all of the classes. It is several hours long which can be hard for young kids to sit through. But it is fun to see the kids show what they have learned and get comfortable in front of crowds. The Dance Academy shares a business with a preschool which two of my kids have attended. It has been a great way for the kids to prepare for kindergarten and meet new friends.

We experienced racism and teachers who treated my child worse because she was not the typical size. At the end of last season, I watched a dance teacher give other dancers extra help, on the ground with them, but when my daughter and I asked, she simply said "she needs to practice at home on her own." After a serious injury, her teachers kept making her dance without her brace and ultimately asked her to not even come back to the team next year. There are horror stories of girls being allowed to pee in the studios because of their last name, of dancers being treated as "other" and being told they need to go on a diet. Since stopping dance I have seen my daughter happier and healthier than she has been in years!

They did an absolutely FANTASTIC job - performing with all their heart on a black-floored stage with the setting sun blaring at them in triple digit heat!! What a show!! They all danced and tumbled and even SANG!! They had lovely voices and performed contemporary tunes as well as some classics! I especially loved their Abba tribute! What a phenomenal show! The company also has a theater in town where they put on all sorts of plays and shows - and even major productions like Les Misérables and High School Musical! They also offer all kinds of dance lessons, singing and acting too. They even have aerial silks classes - which even my adult son has done a few times - he loves it as a good workout - he says it kicks his butt haha! Anytime I come to town to visit my son, I always try to catch anything this company is putting on - the owners are awesome people - they work hard and are so talented! There's also a punch card that you can buy for $80 for 10 classes and doesnt expire, which is great for busy people that can't always make it to a class. They have multiple classes for adults at varying levels. The instructors are very nice, knowledgable, and will work with you at whatever level you're at. I've been to a few adult classes at different studios. For the beginning class here, I wouldnt say it's the best. I believe in the beginning class you should be working on technique and the instructor should be helping you and correcting you more. This is more of a for fun class to get you started in dancing. It's not as serious as the other levels which some people might like. The other level classes after the beginning level are much better. Here they focus on your form and everything else. The instructors are paying attention to your lines more and offer more constructive critism. These classes I think are better if you want to learn more, work on strength and flexibility, and do more dancing.

Salt Lake City Ballet is a great studio for adult ballet students. They offer classes at every…read morelevel and even offer a Truly Beginning Ballet class. This class is great for newbies who (watched a few episodes of Breaking Pointe or SYTYCD and) are curious about ballet and want a welcoming environment where they'll feel comfortable dipping their toe in the water. I've studied ballet at an advanced level and I've been able to find a challenge in each of the classes I've attended--from beginning/intermediate to intermediate/advanced. The instructors I've experienced (Hillary, Patricia, and Amy) are top-notch and friendly with their feedback while being constructive. Similar classes at RDT will run you $12 (plus downtown parking is a nightmare). The classes at SLC Ballet are $10 drop-in rate or you can purchase a punch-card that brings the classes down to $8 per 1.5 hour class (and parking is a dream so you don't have to worry if you're running late). I've been able to build up my strength, stamina, and flexibility again, and I'm looking forward to advancing these skills even further with the adult classes at SLC Ballet. I highly recommend it. The first class is complimentary, so you don't have to take my word for it; you can try it out for yourself.

Their recent production of "Romeo and Juliet" was the best R&J ballet performance I've ever witnessed. Notably, Mercurio was played as a volatile hothead AND a jokester, which provided comic relief for 3/4 of the show. Also, Romeo and Juliet had insanely hot chemistry, with neck and chest kisses plus some surprisingly bold touching. Instead of just hinting at intimacy, this production boldly, but tastefully, crosses into PG-13 territory. Epic experience!
