The challenge? She was 11+ and hadn't danced since she was three, plus she's quite tall for her age. She was terrified of being stuck in a beginner class with much younger kids where she wouldn't fit in. Out of all the studios I looked at in Henderson, Ignite Dance Center was the only one that offered beginner/intermediate classes for her age group. From the moment we walked in for a trial class, the staff and lobby parents were so warm and welcoming. My daughter was a bit nervous and unsure after her first class, but we decided to enroll anyway and I am so glad we did! Every single week, she was cheered on and encouraged by her peers and Coach Katie. After a full season, she has completely transformed with a newfound confidence, wonderful friends, and amazing memories. I couldn't be happier that we found Ignite Dance Center!

Over time, however, our daughter began sharing concerns about her experiences. As parents, we made an effort to follow up appropriately by emailing, and to their credit, we did receive timely responses. Most recently, we reached out regarding ongoing concerns about a staff member whose classroom behavior and treatment of students had been mentioned negatively on multiple occasions. Our daughter reported being yelled at and spoken down to, which prompted us to request a meeting with both the owner and the staff member to address the issue directly. Unfortunately, once the staff member became aware of the meeting, he began posting about parents on social media in a way that felt inappropriate and unprofessional. This only added to our concerns. The meeting itself did not go well. We were met with a level of unprofessionalism, immaturity, and smugness that was disappointing, especially in an environment meant to support children. Competitive dance is a significant investment, and it should be a space that builds confidence and nurtures joy--not diminishes it. What was most concerning was the owner's stated support of the staff member's behavior. While she presents herself as professional, supporting conduct that negatively impacts students sends the wrong message. If you're not part of the solution, you become part of the problem. This was our experience when trying to address concerns at this studio.

PHENOMENAL. The Studio Owner ? AMAZING. The vibes? EVERYONE IS WELCOME! I could not say enough nice things about this studio. My child is on the Spectrum and it's been challenging finding a studio that will not only accept her but also really work with her to achieve her goals. A studio previously occupied the same location with a similar name, but now the space has a fresh start under new ownership with Ms. Lana. She's an America's Got Talent alum and a headlining Las Vegas performer who came to the U.S. from Ukraine not only to live the American Dream, but to earn it through dedication and hard work. She now runs an incredible studio with professionalism, discipline, and heart. The moment our daughter left the floor and took to the air on hoops, silks, ropes, and trapeze, everything clicked. She found her passion, her extracurricular exercise, and a place where she loves learning. And as an added bonus, the recitals are thrilling. Instead of the usual long, boring, mundane dance performances, these feel like a mini circus, with kids flying through the air and performing impressive aerial routines that keep you on the edge of your seat. We've never had the opportunity to attend any of the classes, due to work schedules, but we knew she was having fun! She's always excited to go to school on the days she has classes. Her performance literally brought me to tears; Tears of Joy, of course! Okay, it happened when she introduced herself and said "Mom and Dad I love you". Anyway, back to my review... the show began with gymnastics, and ended with a spectacular display of martial arts! The martial arts portion of the show opened with background music performed by Cee Lo Green, "Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting", as the curtain opened. Very comical and appropriate! This has nothing to with the fact that I'm half Asian and how martial arts has been something that we push, I mean pass down to each generation! LOL! Just kidding! As you can tell, I'm a very very very proud Dad. I may be a little biased, because my little girl is a super star!!! LOL! Anyway, the Leap for Fun folks are amazing! My son has been coming here for over a year taking Karate with Sensei Rey. He loves it. My son…read moreprefers Sensei Rey (not that there's anything wrong with the other Senseis, you know how kids are when they are attached to a specific person) so he was bummed when his schedule changed and instead of having class twice a week he only has it once a week now. My son has competed in one tournament and is prepping to compete in another. Now, only if he can get a belt test done that would be awesome. Other than that Sensei Rey really takes the time to make sure his students (of all ages too) get their techniques correct & it shows in the tournaments. My son brought home a gold medal for Kata & a silver medal for Kumite. Oh! One more thing, the space can get tight when everyone is in class. Maybe expanding or separating the sitting area? There's a room with a glass windowed room right behind where the parents sit, maybe... it could just be a sitting room for the parents during this time frame? I'm really not sure what is in that room though. Also, that way the kids that run around during class can be contained in a separate room so as not to bother the karate class in session but can still see the karate class through the window? Just a suggestion. Gina the owner is very accommodating & was kind enough to understand our situation in December so we were able to alter our contract a bit before signing. We'd visited a couple of schools before in the last few months, and by far this was this was the right choice for him. Upon arrival, Master Young is very clear on the goals they teach and expect for children. What I really love and appreciate is the communication from him and Mrs. Michelle Young. We thought perhaps 4 years old was too young for Karate. But I have observed how patient and sweet they are with all the little ones during class session. While he's only been there for about a month, he is super excited about learning, and attending class 3 times a week. This routine has proven very good for him as well and he enjoys it tremendously. Glad to have our son be a part of an outstanding school that implements discipline, focus and respect, while providing fun physical activity for young ones. They have activities at the park, they celebrate each & every holiday. They do Halloween sparring tournaments & allow the kids to wear their favorite costumes, they shut down their parking lot & create a truck or treat, with hunted dojo suitable for every age group. (None scary, little scary & a lot scary). They do Easter egg hunt, meet Santa etc. They do ninja night, with food, drinks, fun activities & movies for the kids. They offer summer camp. I would definitely recommend this place. My son has learned great skills on how to walk away from a situation instead of throwing the first punch & how to speak up, yell for help & to defend himself. They work hard to reach out kids self defense & also have fun.
