No advanced notice was given about closing-- and the charge for June should have been PRORATED. When providing notice, they refused any refund. I feel like the teacher was there because she had to be and did not really like working the the little ones. She paid more attention to herself in the mirror. The students sat for most of the class while watching 1 student at a time dance. We were there for over 8 months and it was the same moves over and over . My daughter started dancing at age 5 and at age 8 started at Step Up Academy. We had tried a couple of other studios prior. What made us really happy with this one was the age appropriate dances and costumes along with actual technique taught to even the mini's. My daughter is now 17. We moved across town a couple years ago and tried another newer studio close to our new home for a year. The other studio had a very nice owner but just didn't have a program advanced enough for the older girls. So we now drive across town in some pretty ugly traffic 4 days a week because it really is the best studio in town. The teachers are all top professionals in their field and it shows in the dancers they turn out. The Mother/daughter owner team are very straight forward and don't allow drama to infect the family atmosphere. Spend a little time there and you too will feel like you have been adopted into this close knit Italian family. I know I can count on so many of the families there if my daughter or my family ever needed anything. I am confused by some of the not so complimentary reviews. I must assume they didn't give the studio a fair chance to evaluate it accurately. read more

Both of my daughters started dancing at Step Up at 2 years old. My oldest is now 4, and the way she's grown in just 3 dance seasons is mind blowing. I thought that letting her be a part of the comp team would be too much pressure, but it's exactly what she needed. She's learning what it means to be a part of a team, the true meaning of sportsmanship, and she's making friends that she'll have for a lifetime... on her team and in her recreational classes. We have been at this studio for 3.5 years now and I'm honestly so shocked with some of these reviews. I believe this studio goes above and beyond for the kids who attend this school. My oldest started at 3 years old and I can start by telling you her confidence and technique has build so much of her character and she enjoys every single part of being a part of the Step up academy family. My little one also dances here and she started at 2 years old. With the pandemic it was hard for her to be around other kids since she has been by her self so crying was known to happen. The owner Christina came and held her in the class until she finally felt comfortable to be there alone and to me that shows how much dedication and love they put into these babies. She still has a hard here and there but she loves going now and she loves her teacher! When the pandemic hit I knew it was going to be hard but they did try their best to accommodate everyone. No one was prepared for this type of situation EVER and they try to handle it the best they could/ allowed. I would completely recommend this studio and always do when someone does ask me. We love our family that we build with Step up and my babies have made life time friends here. I do understand everyone has their own opinions or concerns but I would say try them out! This is a such a great place. I can't imagine another place ever being better. My 2 daughters attend classes there, and they completely love it. The owner Christina is a very accomplished, competent, and friendly instructor/owner. The nice thing is she has great instructors on her staff so there are always different classes available depending on what you and your kids are interested in. As a retired professional performer and dance instructor since 1993 in the Las Vegas Valley I can tell you there is not a better place to take your child for dance instruction. Managment is incredibly organized, kind and truly cares about the growth and development of their students. The instructors are talented, current and passionate about their craft. If you want an honest and unbiased review of this studio, you have come to the right place. It is very important you keep reading. Very unprofessional studio. The instructors are always "LATE" or walking up right as the class is supposed to begin. The dancers are there and ready early, why can't the instructors be? Since the COVID happened they have also shortened the classes by 15-20 minutes, however continue to charge the same fees. 1 hour classes end up only being about 30-45 minutes. During the covid timeframe, we did not receive the zoom code from step up, however they continued to charge us monthly. Multiple attempts were made to rectify the situation however no one ever answered. After being charged for roughly 3 months, where we did not participate due to not having the zoom code, I brought it to managements attention. The young girl at the front said she needed to speak to her boss. About a week later I get a condescending voicemail that said they would not refund us our money, even though they knew we did not participate and I advised them that we never received the zoom code. The studio was also supposed to have a recital that was postponed, the location of the recital changed 3 times in the course of two weeks. Step up "required" families to purchase the recital outfits 6 months early. The common belief between the parents was that it is their way of keeping the students at the studio a few more months. Now since recitals have been postponed, we are looking at having the outfits 9 months or so early. I guess the dancers aren't supposed to grow within 9 months. wait, there is more! Only ONE parent, yes you heard right, one parent and no other family are able to attend. To hit their dance families even harder financially, they implemented a $65 dollar fee for that one family member to attend. The younger kids dance was literally 1 song (approx 1 minute). So we are paying $135 for our child to dance for 1 minute. Now we have a $75 outfit, specifically for the recital that my child will not be attending. I would rather lose $75 than support step up , who obviously has a lack of care for their dance families. When we notified the studio that our daughter was not participating in the recital they had her sit out during the dance class, along with the others not in the recital. I mentioned this maltreatment to the young girl at the front desk and that we were planning on leaving the studio because of all that we have experienced at the studio. She said they would NOT prorate us if we left before the month was over. I had an issue with this because they did not let my daughter participate in the class, due to the mere fact she wasn't going to be in the recital. Unless you are on any of the competitive teams, which arent available for younger dancers, they teach the dancers the same thing every week. If you want to go to a dance studio where your child does not progress, instead remains stagnant in their abilities, send them to step up. Step up is merely concerned about money and not about the betterment of the dancer. Upon walking into the studio you will see photos and trophies. It displays well, however coming from a dance family, step up is strictly ENTRY LEVEL. The management is terrible. They will act as though they care about the students, however the moment you bring an issue to their attention their attitude will change 180 degrees. Highly "DO NOT" recommend! There are far better dance studios in town that are nationally recognized for their dancers/instructors. Don't settle for Step Up, because you will be disappointed. It's time for management to realize that doing what's best for their dance families is more important than the money. Happy families and happy dancers, inherently brings more money. They are on a reckless road to failure. Hope they can realize their deficiencies and correct them before their true reputation gets out. read more

I'm a SAHM to a 2 year old. My child doesn't get a lot of interaction with other kids. Classes here start at the age of 2. When my kid 2,Jan of this year we went for the free class..She loved it, the only downfall was when I went to leave she started crying. I apologized and the instructor told me no to apologize because she's 2. She told me I could stay in the room with her until she felt comfortable. So, I enrolled her! We did this for months and slowly but surely we were making progress with me not being in there..Then COVID-19 started.. All in person classes stopped and everything went to ZOOM for a couple months..We attempted zoom as soon as we had that option..However, that wasn't something that worked for us. But, I still paid our monthly fees because COVID wasn't something anyone planned on and I understand that as a business, they still have bills and need to support their own family. Plus, She lOVED the class. Fast forward to June and classes are able to be in person again..YAHHH.. But, being away from everyone for months we were back to square one with her wanting me in the room all the time. The instructor said it was okay, that she'd get there on her own time! She still loved going to dance, and her instructor and her friends! Then I got a email that they were merging my daughters class with another class, due to the upcoming recital in August. Which okay, I can understand that. Her class was usually on Saturday morning and it was now Thursday evening. We go for class on Thursday, go back to the usual room and wait.A parent from another class told her us that we were in the wrong area and showed myself and another parent where the Thurs class were held. The first thing I notice is this class is taught by a different instructor.The instructor said she would be Kay and that I could leave. My child had never seen most of the students were let alone the teacher.. so she wasn't having it. I didn't want her to cry &ruin class for the others, so I stood by her but off to the side a little. My daughter wasn't crying she actually was just watching everyone to see what was going on. This class was A LOT bigger than what she's use to. I knew we were just back to step one again! I was doing what the instructor was doing while trying to get my daughter to follow along. While doing so, the owner came in the room and said if my daughter didn't feel comfortable I could take her outside and let her watch from the window until she felt comfortable to come inside. I was like what..so she repeated herself and then made a comment about my daughter just having regular flats on versus ballet slippers..(my daughter had outgrown her slippers during the shutdown, her new ones were ordered, just hadn't been delivered..her regular instructor knew this and understood!), and that I could only stand against the wall..I was blown away with what was being said to me, because this has NEVER been a issue! She mentioned again for me to take her out of the room and when she was ready I could bring her and stand up against the wall and that she needed different shoes. Everyone received a email that stated only 1 parent or adult could accompany a child, no other siblings or family. Yet, outside the window there were husband and wife's watching their child along with other siblings. The hallway is small so everyone is literally shoulder to shoulder, not even half had a mask on. I wasn't going to take myself (mask on) or my kid in the hallway with people not doing their part to stay safe. The owner looked at me waiting 4 me 2 tk her out of the room + change shoes. Out of the room I tried to explain to a 2 yr old what was going on, she was mad bc she wasn't in the class and began to cry. SEVERAL ADULTS made comments to one another about her crying and they hope it's not a distraction to their children. This class is for 2+3 yr olds, toddlers learning new things. I was upset w the treatment by the owner and adults we left. I withdrew her from class, all the money spent for the recital next month, won't happen.. She loved going here and it's sad that in 1 day it all went away! The lack of social distancing here between adults and children when not in studio is strong! The owners mother even yelled "we need to be practicing social distancing", while pushing through individuals that were inches apart..all while not even wearing a mask her self!‍ Honestly, I feel like my daughter is 2..those parents worried about their children's dance time being affected because of other children.. Shame on you.. these babies are 2+3.. this isn't "Dance Moms"! The way you spoke about my child was unacceptable and I surely hope that the negativity and nastiness isn't in your daily routine. My daughter is 3 years old and has been dancing for 1 year. We couldn't be happier that Step Up Wigwam purchased the Warm Springs location and we got the experience this amazing upgrade!! We were going to leave because I didn't really feel like my daughter was learning much and she truly loves to dance. Then I meet the new owners Christine and Christina and saw the way they run their studio and just feel in love. Just had our first recital this weekend and I can't wait to do the next! Christine/Christina are always present in the studio, talking to parents and seeing what they can do to make sure the kids have the best experience. I'm giving this place one star because miss Lori is a gem, I hope that the owners truly take pride in all the work she does. My critic would be the number of children in the classes, there's way too many kiddos for one teacher. Especially if you have some who act up. I feel there is not always control and kids are allowed to do what they want and not encouraged to participate. The space to sit is very limited sometimes you win and other you don't, but what can you do. This place does not give me a family vibe at all, owners do not engage in conversation with customers who they do not know. In comparison to other dance places, the recital charges are crazy here. read more

Then Step Up Academy took over the location and I am truly excited to be apart of this program. The studio is great! Where do I start!! My kids joined their dance family about a year ago, and we couldn't be happier! We have been at Step Up for a little over a year. The progress my daughter has made in this short time has been phenomenal. We were at a previous studio for 3 years and could tell the difference within the first few classes. The instructors are all wonderful people and amazing teachers. The owners are extremely involved and fantastic communicators. They are equally dedicated with the recreational dancers and the competition dancers. This is something you don't experience everywhere. They really foster a family style environment and we couldn't imagine being anywhere else. My daughter is now on a competition team and having the time of her life. I have been involved with step up academy for over five years with two of my granddaughter dance there competitively. I was always there. I watched all there rehearsals, and went to all of their shows and competitions. Needless to say why it cost me for lessons, privates lessons, comp fee, costumes for five years. Grandma never complained. They were my babies. And I loved every minute of it. And I must stay step up is a very excellent school and teachers don't get me wrong. The problem I have is that now my daughter and I have come to differences and no longer speak for the most ridiculous reason. (Not important) but the school owners took it upon themselves to not invite me to any of the competitions or nationals even though they. Are open to the public. Wouldn't give me any information regarding my grandchildren after taking thousands of dollars of my money. My oldest granddaughter did a special solo dance dedicated to my late husband you just recently passed away. And what I wouldn't have given to see that dance. I think the studio should stay out of family business and post public information about competitions and nationals for anyone involved to attend. And if my money was good enough for five years and I was always polite to you. I should have. Been given that information instead of block that information at the request of my daughter. I would have completely ignored her and sat in a different area just to see my girls dance. Thank you step up for taking away the most valuable time of my life. Amazing Studio! I LOVE the owners and staff! I have seen a lot of Studio's focus only on the competition team but this studio gives equal treatment to all. The prices are fair, I have no idea what the other reviews are saying but it is reasonable. My child has improved far more that at her previous studios. They stay away from the dance mom drama like other places and its nice to be a mom and be comfortable in that environment. No moms running the show here (at least not anymore)! It feels good, like family. So happy that they are teaching kindness, respect and discipline while offering a irreplaceable dance program with TECHNIQUE. Step up is Like a Second home to my daughter. She has been dancing there for 3 years now and we cannot say enough wonderful things about this studio. Starting with the instructors..their dedication to provide the students with the tools and knowledge needed to become a great dancer is the best we have experienced and we have been to other studio's in town. The Owners of the studio are so wonderful, they love all the kids at Step Up, and go out of their way to make you feel like a part of their family. I have witnessed first hand how accommodating and flexible they are with ALL the parents and students. My daughter started dancing on their mini competition team last year and what an AMAZING experience that has been for both of us. I am new to the world of dance. Having a teenaged son, I never thought I would have to worry about costumes and choreography and dance competitions. But, one day when my son said "I want to take a dance class mom, and I need to go to Step Up Academy, cause that is where my friend goes." I took him to his take his first dance class. I wasn't happy about the location because it is in Henderson, and we don't live anywhere near Henderson. Now, nearly two years later, we are still driving all the way to Henderson, six days a week! Why? Why, when there are plenty of studios that I pass on the way to Step Up Academy? Because Step Up is amazing! They are more than a studio, we feel like part of a family. My son is blossoming into an amazing dancer under there instruction. The owners Christina and Christine are wonderful, caring, and passionate about what they do. The instructors are top-notch! They, including Christina, don't just teach dance, they want each student to LOVE dance. They are helping us parent's with older students prepare for college! And take the time to answer any questions that we have to help them transition into dancers beyond high school. I am so proud to be a part of the Step Up Academy family. My son is on the competition team, and he couldn't be prouder of his studio himself. I am so thankful that we chose Step Up that I don't even care that I live in my car to get my son back and forth to his dance classes. I wish I could put into words how wonderful this studio is! As a mom of a competitive dancer, I know that dance is not only tough physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. An owner that loves kids first and then teaches them is beyond refreshing! Every student here is cared for and pushed in their own personal way to find success!
