We have signed up for the follow on curriculum and I'm happy to say that I think I can now consider myself an intermediate dancer. The other regular instructors, Sandy and Kevin, are likewise amazing and very knowledgeable. They, along with David, Have formed a close knit group of people into a very tight community that make coming to dance class fun! An example of how great this is is group class. Now many people, and i was among them, think group classes are awkward and weird: You go to dance with your partner, not with other people! but with this group it's not weird at all and very helpful! We both are not comfortable dancing, but our instructor Danilo taught us well. He listened to our song, identified it as a Viennese Waltz, and whipped up some steps for us. He fixed our mistakes with warmth, making us feel very secure. At the end of our 1.5 hour lesson we had a dance for our wedding, and were happy to boot. We took advantage of the wedding special, but couldn't come back for more lessons because we were leaving town. We tried to pay and tip, but Danilo refused. There were other beginners in a class of about 10 so that immediately made it less intimidating. Classes are $20 each and they have an unlimited option for between $100 & $115 per month. The salsa taught here is not ballroom, it's for salsa club dancing and it's taught on 2, as opposed to 1 for those who are familiar with dance terminology. There are beginner classes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7 and 12 pm on Saturdays. I am told that one night they even go to a salsa club to test out moves. Overall it was a very warm and inviting experience. After teaching you the steps on your own they even conduct part of the class paired up which makes things interesting. If you're looking to learn how to dance salsa for fun or a different way to get some exercise and are in or close to the New Haven area, I would highly recommend checking out Rumberos.

The energy from Kayt, the owner and one of the instructors, is incredible! She is sooo motivating, there's no way you can't have fun in her classes! There are classes 6 days a week (maybe even 7, I'm not sure), and they just opened up a bigger and better studio to accommodate more people. Classes with Melissa on Fridays also whoop my a$$ in gear! Kayt has an awesome team of instructors, she should be proud of such an awesome studio that welcomes all levels of abilty and really helps make all women feel sexy in their skin!
