Sharing a friends experience Hello everyone. I had a very terrible experience with a business called Dana's day spa in dekalb. I never post about anything like this, but this one really got to me. I had received a gift certificate for my 50th birthday to get a massage at this spa. It was a $100 gift certificate. I went online and made an appointment for a hot stone massage. On Wednesday evening our four-year-old dog tragically lost use of her hind legs. We rushed her to the Animal Hospital in Aurora. Seven hours later we unfortunately had to put her down. We did not get home until 3:30am yesterday. My appointment for the massage was 10:30 AM yesterday. I had every intention of making this appointment. I had no idea that this would happen to my dog. I called them and asked if they would allow me to reschedule. I did explain what happened. The owner had the nerve to tell me she has a policy on her 24 hour cancellation because she's a single mom and has to take care of her family, etc.. I totally understand that. I used to be a business owner myself. She absolutely refused to allow me to cancel and reschedule. People have things happen in life. A business can change their policy for extreme circumstances. Having a little compassion and humanity goes a long way. I was furious and told her to charge the gift card and that she could keep the extra five dollars. I am on day two of grieving Over my animal passing away. My dog who passed had a sister dog and they were inseparable. In her short four years, they've never been separated. Not only am I grieving but my other dog is grieving as well. Had I been clairvoyant and knew my dog was going to collapse and die I would've called and canceled the appointment. I was so caught up her dire situation that it never occurred to me to call. Plus, the situation happened about 18 hours before my appointment.... I would've kept this appt had I gotten some sleep the night before and wasn't grieving so hard. She actually charged the gift card that I was given $95 and refused to let me reschedule unless I wanted to pay again. In my mind it just seemed cruel and really about her getting her money. She never even acknowledged the passing of my dog or said sorry. Doesn't matter but it was just very frustrating. Thanks for listening! read more

I had a wonderful pedicure experience at Dana's Day Spa! The atmosphere was very calm and relaxing, and everything was very clean. Dana was very professional and friendly and made sure I was comfortable and that everthing was exactly the way I wanted it. I even smudged my polish putting on my shoes and she immediately pointed it out and redid the nails that were smudged. I highly recommend going to see her! I came here in 2016 (she was by downtown DeKalb at that time) just before my wedding to get a Brazilian wax. I left there crying and mortified at my experience. It's been 6 years and I still shudder when I think back to that time. Some times I drive by the location and it takes me back which led me to see the review I had previously left (only to figure out I must never got around to leaving one). Long story short, as a black woman with course hair, she could not figure out how to work with it. Not sure if it was lack of experience or what, but she ripped at my area for so long and still when I left there was still hair. I had to tell her how my usual aesthetician does things and she was like "oh yes that might work best with your 'curly' hair. I was so sore, bleeding, and messed up that it lasted through my 5 day cruise wedding. To any woman similar to myself with course hair, beware. Sorry it has taken me so long to share my experience, I honestly thought I did right something. I hate that I could have probably saved someone else from my experience. read more

Dana's manicures are the best I have ever had. They last 7 to 10 days. I usually remove due to nails growing out, not chips. Her spa is neat, clean, relaxing. Dana is warm calming. Chatty of you desire, quiet if you don't. read more

I called just to see if they offer dip powder (which they don't) and the lady on the phone was INCREDIBLY rude. I said hello, she did too but in a sassy tone. I asked her how she was doing today and she said "Um can I help you?" I have no idea why this woman works in customer service if she is not accustomed to using a friendly tone when speaking to others. Will not be going here. And I hope the women I spoke with has a more friendly tone with others in the future because I'd hate to see her continue to drive customers away. read more

I don't even know where to start to explain how impressed I am with danas services. !!not only did she squeeze me in last minute ,she took the necessary steps to remove my gel nail tips,and my natural nails still look amazing !
