Sadly today I must modify my positive review... Dr. McGinty is a kind, attentive, patient, welcoming, intelligent, and friendly doctor that I have thoroughly enjoyed calling my primary care physician for almost a decade now. Sadly, his new receptionist (his wife, apparently) shares none of those qualities. Her insistent gatekeeping, boorish inflexiblity, and incredible rudeness even when dealing with very simple corrections to prescriptions has turned a friendly community-oriented practice into an ugly, transparent money grab. I have been left with no choice but to end my relationship, very sadly, with my doctor because of his receptionist. That really sucks, and I couldn't be more disappointed. read more

I really like Dr. McGinty as a person, but his operation is extremely unprofessional. I had an urgent issue where I needed to ask the doctor about my medications. When I explained that I had a question about a potential adverse drug reaction and needed to ask the doctor about it, they said I could come by the office and that they would "squeeze me in." When I got there, the doctor was not available and there was "no sense in waiting." I asked if he could call me, but they said that he "might" call me back the same day, but "might not." What kind of answer is that from a doctors office? When I stressed that it was important, they flipantly said that if the issue was so urgent that I should just go to the emergency room. In other words, his staff are REALLY rude and that reflects on the care (or lack there of) that he is able to provide. On another occasion, they cancelled an appointment of mine (no big deal), but when I told them that I would run out of my heart medication before the rescheduled appointment, they said that they could not get me a refill to tide me over until the appointment. So, they (not the doctor) determined that I would go without my medication for two weeks! When I did finally see Dr. McGinty, he said that his staff had not even told him and that he would never had allowed me to go that long without it. In other words, his staff made a medical decision without even consulting him. That is scary and wrong. I am writing this now because others doing research on a potential doctor need to know that this is not the place to go. Until he get's his act together with his staff, you are going to be treated like cattle. There are plenty of alternative options in the area. If you go here, you are likely to be mistreated by his staff. read more

Dr. McGinty himself is fine. Attentive, polite, a good man. His staff is another story. Rude, slow, and will put up every roadblock for even minor tasks. My insurance had called them for a note saying I needed more PT appointments. 2 weeks later, nothing. I had even called ahead to let them know my insurance would be calling. I called again, they told me they don't fax, email, or mail forms and I had to pick it up in person. I don't get home until 630 from work so I had to take a day off just to get this stupid note, and in the meantime my pain just gets worse and worse. Honestly, I don't think they cared. Oh, and bring a book because you'll be waiting 2 hours after your scheduled appointment. I know I'll be looking for a better practice that treats me, the patient, kindly and actually lives in the 21st century. read more

The hours currently listed by both Yelp and Google Maps are incorrect. Go by their website's listed hours (http://www.integrative-medicine-dc.com/make-an-appointment): "Appointment hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM, and Tuesday and Thursday 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM." You can, however, call during different hours to schedule an appointment, but those hours do not reflect the times available for appointments: "Please call us at 202-882-2565 from 9:30 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday to schedule an appointment." read more

Dr. McGinty was not able to provide me the basic primary care that he advertises. He was unable to interpret my lab results appropriately. He said my results were normal, when they were not normal and indicated inflammation. He flat out told me that he did not look at urinalysis results, and told me to see a urologist. He was very dismissive of my concerns about high cholesterol numbers. He refused to provide lab orders for follow up tests to the high inflammation markers. Overall, he was absolutely unable and unwilling to try to help me figure out what health issues I was having. If you don't already have a diagnosis of s simple health condition, I would not suggest seeing him. His staff is also a big problem. They are had to reach, seem too busy to do their jobs, and some of the staff are downright rude on the phone. read more

From all I can tell Dr. Mcginty is a fine physician and a caring person. He gets 5 stars. However his receptionist gets a -1. So his practice gets a 2. The receptionist is so rude and dismissive. Almost nasty with patients. I have experienced this almost every annual visit for three years. I wont be back next year. It is such a shame because I like him. But I don't do disrespect. read more

Dr. McGinty has an outstanding bedside manner and spends plenty of time with patients. His advice for minor medical issues over the years has been very good, especially since he knows his patients well and can keep track of their issues. Perhaps as a result of word of mouth, his waiting room is sometimes full and there can be a wait to see him. This is true of most doctors though. Overall, a great doctor providing personalized care. read more

I've had a mixed experience with Dr. McGinty as my primary care provider over the last several years. The location is super convenient for me which is why I have always taken the bad with the good. It often takes a long time to be seen, and his bedside manor can be quite abrupt. But my last (this will be the last) experience with the office came because I was kept waiting for almost 2 hours for a basic physical exam, but then when the doctor came to see me I was informed that the exam could not be completed. The doctor was incredibly dismissive that I just wasted 2 hours of my life and was not able to have a basic annual exam done. I already knew that it was not possible to see this doctor when I am actually sick since every time I have ever called to try to schedule an appointment day-of when I'm sick, I have been told that there is not room on the schedule and that I should go to the emergency room. So getting an annual exam is the only thing that this office is good for and now even that experience just went beyond the pale. I would like to note that the office staff, especially Dawn are incredible and organized so I don't understand what happened when the other yelpers were there. I agree with the other reviewer that if at least this review can help someone else save their time and not waste their life in this waiting room, and dealing with an unprofessional doctor, then at least something positive can come out of this experience. I know I won't get my time back, and now I need to find a new doctor. But please: save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

I would strongly warn against seeking care from Dr. McGinty. While he may be a fine provider his staff is abhorrent. I recently lost a job and called to inquire about a payment plan instead of full billing for a medication check visit. The woman I spoke with - I believe she said she was the office manager - first asked "why aren't you going to the free clinic if you don't have insurance" and when I explained I was an existing patient and I was unhappy with her treatment she said "thank you" and hung up on me. I called back and was disconnected immediately. Very sad. read more
