As you can see from Dan's response to this review, he exhibits no class. Also, it shows his lack of attention to detail. What they experienced working with us was, Crashing into our house with their excavator. Knocking out the power to the house when they hit the electrical panel with more equipment. Installing our pool out of level. leaving our home looking like a disaster throughout the process. Installing the electrical outlet too far from the pool, out of the stated guidelines. leaving me to install Failing every possible inspection at least once, some multiple times. Day laborers who urinated on the side of our house, smoked weed in our driveway, had no clue what they were doing. Cracking my new driveway. From his response you can also see he is upset that I posted verified accounts of our interactions on social media. Nothing that has ever been said has been untrue. He also says I, "missed the part that you had financial issues" when I actually listed in the review in detail everything that went on with payments. (that's that attention to detail I mentioned earlier) He also says I filed a report to swindle our way out of our agreement. When he abandoned the job so I had to file a complaint with the state. I can produce those texts and emails also to verify what I'm saying is true. I filed complaints because the job was left undone, excuse after excuse kept getting made. If my complaints had no merit, he wouldn't have agreed to the mediation and terms I put forth to finish our interaction so I could move on with a competent contractor to finish our project correctly. The fact is that San Juan Pool actually ended up sending someone in to fix Dan's mistakes (of which there were quite a few) on my project and multiple other projects from other San Juan Pool customers. and the parting shot of many blessings to "your wife illness" was disingenuous. During this whole ordeal my wife ended up having to go in for surgery and radiation for breast cancer. So, since I was going with my wife to her procedures and treatments, it was even more unconcealable that they would say they'd be there doing work, only to not show up and add more stress to my wife, like she didn't already have enough on her plate. a nearly 2 year ordeal for a project that competent contractors can knock out in a few weeks. As you can see now, by doing a google search, many other dissatisfied customers have come out with their negative experiences with Dan the Tiki Man. But I guess we're all just making the same stories up. We just all happen to be strangers who have the same interactions with this man. What a coincidence. So again I say, avoid him and his company at all costs. I don't even know if any pool companies will work with him in the future, but if his name comes up, find a different pool company that uses a different contractor. read more

For some reason I stuck with him.( Spoke to a lawyer here in Florida he recommended i not sue beause the contractor would drag it out, and I' pay my lawyer $450.00 an hour. ) -so from 9/2023 -Present, this "CON" tractor, was taking my money to pay off his other contracts and was doing nothing with my construction , when confronted on this, he replied "THEY" ????? did it to me so im doing it to you! - then 9/24 pool construction started, and he failed to complete the project of the pool construction today ae we speak,deck is caving in in some areas, they never filled in around the pool the correct way etc. -so this is how I've been treated through Florida construction ! - as we speak Dan Rodriguez has GHOSTED ME, the clowns in his Circus have emailed they are done! -He and his cage crew were kicked to the curb, and One of my Former athletes ,Family Business , took over my project and have been nothing but Exceptional! They said to me , Bob your Family, we got you! ( Tears as i say this)! - Life Long Lesson Learned here! My side of the street don't trust what you read, start date finish date,payment schedules are set up by some companies and they want monies up front! - my Wife, 4th stage Parkinson's, my Mom and Dad mid/late 80's, we were told by Dan Rodgiues and Albert Delarosa that they recommended railing for the pool for my wife, but just blew them off and never installed them. These people are very non-responsive. We asked for a quote, which we actually received, but since that point there has been no communication what-so-ever. We has questions about the quote, which we emailed Kathy Gomez (sales rep) and never got any response. This original quote was dated 4/20/2023 and we are now going on 5/16/2023 with no response. we hired Dan to originally build our tiki hut in 2020. he did a good job. we suffered hurricane damage in 2023 so needed the roof rethatched. we contacted Dan and he sent his crew out to do the job. they broke the chandelier we had hanging over the bar, left a huge B mess in our yard and there were multiple spots you could see right through the thatched roof. I tried with 6 phone calls and emails to get them to come back to repair the roof. they wouldn't even return or answer and emails. what a poor excuse for a business they turned out to be. We signed a contract for a swimming pool installation. During the quote process, we were given an estimate that our pool would be installed in July. Everything was fast-tracked during the sales process. As soon as we paid the contract and deposit, however, communication and activity slowed to a crawl. First Excuse: We have changed engineering firms, so expect a delay. Second Excuse: Our engineering firm is backed up, expect delays. Then....silence....for WEEKS at a time. I had to start sending correspondence that was not particularly friendly to elicit any response whatsoever. Fast forward to mid-June (more than 2 full months after we signed the contract), and the permit application had not even been filed (we were told this would happen the same week that we had signed the contract. I sent a termination of contract notice to Dan. Dan did not respond. I finally contacted our sales guy, Mike, through Facebook Marketplace. This generated a response from Dan who told me not to contact Mike, that he had moved on to "bigger and better projects than ours.", followed by stating that they never refund any money, but want to keep our contract. I replied, giving them one last chance to try to make things right with the following request: 1) an in-person meeting at our home to set expectations. 2) a project timeline 3) a commitment to weekly updates. It has been 5 weeks and Dan has not bothered to respond to my final attempt to make things right on this agreement. I'm appalled at the horrific level of service or even basic respect we have received. We took a big financial loss on nothing more than a signature on paper. I would never recommend this company. They cleaned everything, We had a tiki hut and umbrella in a very poor shape and we were in a market for a good professional for a pretty long time. The very first estimate for the job was for $3000...We were pretty much upset, because it is a lot of money.After some research and several calls, we came across this company - Sunset Nursery and Tiki Hut. Daniel, the owner, was very courteous and honest with us. He explained , that his price will be better, because he owns 5 acres, covered with palm trees and he uses his own material. Others are buying from him. His price was much lower, than other companies could offer. In addition, he used 4000 leaves, instead of 2000 as others were planning. That means, that the quality of the cover is much better, more dense and will stay for a longer period of time. In other words - honest work. They started to work at 9 am, UNDER RAIN... At first there were 4 young men. Then 2 more came, including the owner. By 5 PM the big job was done . They cleaned everything after the work and also picked up plenty of tree branches, that I could not get rid for few weeks. I have huge palm tress and several of those long and heavy branches fell and it takes time to cut them and dispose them. Daniel di that as well. Now we are planning to upgrade our Tiki hut's bins and columns. Daniel said they will do it. If your wooden columns are weak, they enforce it with a cement, and it looks like a beautiful tree trunk, painted. I wish I could put our photos here, Before and After, but the system is not allowing me to. Anyway, I highly recommend this company. Dan is a great guy who will do you right. He communicates all the way through the project, offers ideas at the proposal stage and when the job is complete, he there onsite with his team to make sure you are happy. Once I approved his ideas for my replacement deck, Tiki hut, and build up deck for my above aground pool he went to work. As soon as I had money in hand, he started 3 days later. Actual job days to complete the project was 4 days for everything. They were delayed slightly due to rain, but that was understandable. During the build, when the team had questions, they asked and offered options before moving forward to ensure I would be happy. Questions such as pitch of roof on the hut, drop down on the roof for clearance, placement of build up deck to above ground pool moved twice, railings and what wood would be used, to anything that could have been done differently that would make me wonder what if. They made sure I got what I wanted. The team cleaned up the area nicely. I just had to deal with small things like saw dust and sand piles from digging and mounting of posts. No biggy, Overall, I would highly recommend Dan to perform the work you need. He was 100% on budget within hidden fees or agendas. Had a tornado come through my neighborhood of Miami Springs in January (no kidding). The tornado damaged alot of stuff including the thatching on the tiki I had Dan put up a little over two years. I don't blame the construction of the tiki at all. It was completely fine for two years. Never had a leak or an issue. The tornado was so strong that it blew portions of roofs off my neighbor's house, bent metal fences, blew down fences, took down trees etc. . Sadly, the thatching was pretty messed up. The structure of the tiki was completely fine. It's built like a tank. Called Dan up. He came over the next day, gave me a fair price on the rethatching of the tiki. We set up a time for the coming weekend for the work. In the middle of the week Dan texted me and said, "hey, I don't have enough quality material for the job. I am short. I will have more quality material later in the week. Can we reset the appointment?" He called later in the week and said, "ok...I have the material ready to go." We set up a time for Saturday morning at 10:30AM and he and his crew showed up an hour earlier than promised which I appreciated. He introduced me to his right hand man on the job Rolando and said Rolando will take care of everything. Dan said told me to call him if I needed anything. He was off to check on another job. Dan's crew worked like a well oiled machine. They are quick and efficient. They covered all the stuff I couldn't move our from under the tiki so that nothing would get damaged or dirty. The rethatching took longer than putting up the original tiki! It was alot of work taking off the old thatching, removing all the nails, and then rethatching it. The original job took about 5 hours and the rethatch took 6. The work came out great. The crew left the yard spotless and I have my tiki back. Dan called me a couple of hours after his crew finished to make sure that I was satisfied with the job. Thanks Dan. I go out of my way to leave this company another review because they deserve it. Dan put up our first tiki about two years ago. When we put our house up for sale, the guy who bought it said it was the tiki that sold it! He wanted a place that looked like the Keys and he found it. We moved to Cooper City and just had another one installed. His guys came out, did a wonderful job of measuring and recommending where to put it and what else would make it awesome. We said go for it and now have a remarkable tiki to enjoy. they installed it, 16x32, over two days because of inclement weather and it looks fantastic.
