I'm South Indian and I have a high bar on dosas. These are the best dosas I've had in the US.

Jalebi Street - Delhi Special Chole Bhature

Jalebi Street

Jalebi Street has been highly recommended to me by multiple vegetarian and non-vegetarian friends,…read moreso I suggested it as the dinner portion of our regular try-all-the-bars-listed-in-this-one-book nights (that night's bar was Zam Zam). We ordered a bunch of fried things and enjoyed it all. Very flavorful and well executed. The friends did not recomend the actual jalebis, but I insisted on ordering one because of the name and really liked it.

Jalebi Street might be the most authentic Indian restaurant in San Francisco…read more * Chole bhature (5/5): Soft bhature with well-spiced chole, accompanied by the snap of raw red onion. It felt like I was back in Delhi! * Palak paneer (5/5): So many other places get this wrong, either the paneer quantity is lacking or they don't use mustard oil when making it. Thankfully, Jalebi Street knocked this out of the park. Now, just add makki di roti and I'll be back every weekend! * Vada pav (5/5): To be honest, I'm not the biggest vada pav fanatic, but this is probably the best one I've had outside of India. * Onion kachori (3/5): Good, but nothing to write home about. To be honest, it was a little too spicy, even for me. * Mango lassi (4/5): Not too sweet, with just the right amount of tartness. * Masala soda (4/5): Why is this such a rarity at Indian restaurants in the US when every place back home has this on the menu? It was delicious, but way too expensive (almost 8 bucks). We are definitely going to be back, especially since we committed the cardinal sin of not trying the jalebi at Jalebi Street.

Tonight's selections were Lamb Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, and samosas. Once issued you buzzer, spin around to collect beverages, sauces, plates and silverware. Find a seat till the buzzer does its thing. Our food was prepped within 5 minutes and piping hot. The volume of food was amazing for the cost. The lamb was large pieces in a mix of basmati rice, herbs, spices and perfectly tender. The heat from this dish alone didn't require much. Samosas were serviceable and could stand more crispiness. The garbanzos were flavorful and tender. I'm

Dreamt of this place since 5 years ago when we last visited and so happy to say that it didn't…read moredisappoint! We loved the lamb biryani and lamb chops just as we remembered. Tried the balti chicken this time and it was just ok. It could improve on service..while waiting for our food we wanted to order more and had asked the guy working there (packing all the food) if it would be a long wait to add 1 more thing and he just said they're too busy and can't....mind you there was an hour still before closing almost so this was a little disappointing. However, their food is always delicious and packed with meat! The lamb biryani is easily shareable between 3-4 hungry adults. Can't wait to return back!
