Nicholas made us feel welcome and valued as long time club members. It was wonderful to taste inside. Loved the DeRose History - Nicholas is knowledgeable and very personable. The legendary DeRose Winery…read more.. It's all about the Cab Franc! I believe the Cab Franc is what they are known for... and for good reason. The Cab Franc is one of the best I had! The only other local domestic rival I know off that is near as good hails from 3 Steves Winery in Livermore, and they get the grapes form DeRose! So, do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of the Cab Franc. You won't regret it. The Cab Franc is a 100% Cabernet Franc, not blended. The Vines are pruned in the winter, the Grapes are exposed to sunlight with careful leaf removal and the Clusters are thinned after veraison. Common tasting notes are Berries , dark Stone Fruit, a dash of pepper a subtle hint of roses. Can you tell I like is wine? The vineyard is located on both sides of the San Andreas Fault and wines are part of the old Vaché planting method. DeRose wines are also organically farmed, just not not certified. Oh, can't forget the dry farming as well. The Winery is in the middle of nowhere... It's a journey onto itself to get here. There isn't much else around. There is another winery down the road, but that's about it. Don't be scared to make the trip. They recently opened a Tasting room in San Martin. Can't wait to stop by and do some wine tasting there...

They have a few tiers of reds including The Estate, Reserve, Palm Tag, and Lansdale. Although it's tempting to purchase some of their delicious wines at their winery, a helpful tip from the local - Grocery Outlets around the Bay Area sell their reserve Chardonnay for $3.99 and their reserve Pinot Noir for $8.99 in the wine section! They are priced at $42 and $72 respectively at the winery, so you're getting incredible savings! Amazing to see the owners of Eden Rift spearhead wine accessibility by providing great wine in the sub $4 and $9 price point!

Unfortunately our experience was dampened when we went back through the same door we were shown through to have the owner talk negatively about us to his guests for us to hear because we went through an "employee only" door to access the restroom. It was the only door we were shown and that is at no fault to the server, as an owner not great etiquette to talk about your patrons in a negative light for them to overhear. No matter which door we went through it still would have "interrupted" you and your guests/time. Left us with a bad taste ending to our nice time.

I had to leave early because I accidentally forgot my sweater in the car,and they wouldn't let me get it and as ya'll know Hollister nights get pretty chilly. My boyfriend and I went to one of the Hollister concerts, which was held at Guerra Cellars Winery…read more In fact we went to the last concert of the summer series that featured Fast Times, an 80s cover band, and the Bonfire AC/DC tribute band. I had fun and thought it was a great place to take a date or hang out with family and friends. Definitely great for kids. As we entered from the parking lot, we found ourselves right in the thick of the concessions area. There was only one place to get food, which had tri tip sandwiches, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, chili dogs, and nachos. The tri tip sandwich was surprisingly good. It was so good that I ordered a second. Although this tasted amazing and all, my only gripe about the food was that there wasn't any variety. The bar area had limited types of alcohol as well. They only sold wine, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, White Claw, and Coors. There was a second bar located at the bottom of the hill where the stage was located, and it had similar selections. All seating at this venue was general, because it's basically one big grassy hill. With that said, you'll want to bring a low lawn chair and/or blanket and then find your spot on the grass. There was a dance pit right in front of the stage, and anyone could go down to it. I was impressed by how good the sound was especially for an open venue. We were sitting towards the top of the hill for the most part and were able to hear the singer clearly. The venue itself was pretty. I loved seeing the rolling Hollister Hills in the background behind the stage while the sun set and casted beautiful colors. There was also a clear night sky, so looking up to the stars and the Harvest full moon while rocking out to some favorite classics was truly romantic.
