The wines were as good as usual, but the charm was lacking. The little building appears cute, but it doesn't have a vineyard feel at all. It sort of feels like a parking lot. On one side, there was a lawn with picnic tables and a stage. On the other side, there were cafe tables and the restrooms. It could be better if things were reoriented to take advantage of the view of the distant hills, but as it is, there's not much to see. On the good side, you are welcome to picnic here, which we did. There was also live music, and a way to get more distance from it if the music was too loud. We left with our growler filled, but it seems like a long way to go for another refill.

He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine making.. and will sometimes dive far back into the winery to get something particular that he knows will just be perfect at that moment. His wife, Kris, is a fantastic cook, and everything is fresh from their gorgeous organic garden. They are both quite the world travellers/adventurers and they love to share stories and personal experiences. Another cool thing is that you can see the San Andreas fault from the property. Otherwise, we'd probably still be there gabbing and drinking with Danielle and whoever walked up to get their wines. Danielle was a lovely gal who made our tasting engaging and fun. We talked wine, food, weather, birds, vineyards... And then we even got to meet and speak with Denis (the owner/winemaker). Such a great guy! Talking to him is like talking to a long time friend where you can talk about everything you like and don't like and everything in between. Right now.... He makes 32 different wines! Naturally we joined the wine club. Not just because we enjoyed the wine but because we loved the people. We also bought a bottle of wine to take with us to have at dinner where we let our server have a bit and told him he needed to go check out Odonata. (I couldn't believe he'd not been yet!) We decided to stop at a family-owned winery during our road trip after seeing many cars parked…read morealong the highway. We assumed it must be a popular spot and decided to go for some wine tasting. The view of the winery was beautiful, but parking off the highway was limited. Additional parking was available in the gravel areas along the road, but be cautious when parking a low sports car, as there are rough spots with dips and larger rocks. Drive in slowly. Watch out for passing by vehicles, especially after your tasting. When we arrived, the hostesses welcomed us warmly and seated us quickly near the DJ, who was engaging with guests, playing loud tunes from mostly the '80s. Most of the customers appeared to be local families and friends hanging out. The bartender was pleasant and welcoming. Most servers seemed friendly and attentive to tables, but we had to wait 15 minutes for our assigned server, Alex, to take our order. While Alex was pleasant, he spent most of his time prioritizing and working other larger tables, leaving us waiting for long periods between wine pours. We came to the winery to sample some wines, and we were not disappointed with our selection, although we wished Alex would have more knowledge of the wines and take the time to provide us with more history of the winery. We chose to sample their range of whites and reds, and they were all nice except for the Zinfandel and one of the Chardonnays. We ended up purchasing a bottle of dry rosé, which we liked as a nice sipping on a warm day. Looking back, we could have easily served ourselves with one of the bottles purchased while we were there, which would have been a better experience. The menu had a variety of drinks, including whites, reds, mixed drinks, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as a couple of choices of crackers. We observed that many tables brought their own snacks and food, which seems to be permitted at this winery. Overall, we were glad we stopped in to sample some of this winery's offerings. However, if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere without loud music, this may not be the place for you. We found it to be too loud and not the typical winery experience we were accustomed to. What a wonderful surprise at Anatum Winery!…read more My cousin Letty and I went wine tasting at Anatum Winery, and as someone who normally prefers reds, I almost skipped the 2024 Anatum Estate Chardonnay. Thank goodness I didn't! One sip and we literally looked at each other and said, "WHOA!" It was crisp, flavorful, beautifully balanced, not too sweet or too dry, and so smooth on the palate. I honestly couldn't believe I was drinking a Chardonnay! The Rosé of Grenache, Red Blend, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon were wonderful too -- I enjoyed the reds so much that a few bottles came home with me. Such a beautiful, relaxing setting and an even better experience. I especially loved seeing the passion this young couple has put into their winery. Anatum Winery, you turned this red-wine girl into a Chardonnay fan!

Great small family run place. On a given weekend you'll likely meet the whole family. And they talk to you as family and share their life with you unlike reading a script of wine descriptions. Easy to find location with a few sandwich boards out to help make it obvious if you don't know how to use your nav system.
