Lovee Damiani wine. Their reds are excellent and we really enjoyed the ambiance for their wine tasting. You can just walk in and don't need a reservation. They have very friendly staff and a deck with beautiful views of the lake. Plus, the wines are all delicious. Highly recommend if you are in the area! read more

The red wine is exceptionally good at this winery. The deck overlooks Lake Seneca. I strongly suggest tasting the Reserve selections of reds. Very smooth and creamy. The staff is friendly and helpful as they guide you thru the selections, they don't rush thru each tasting. The tasting room is large, but cozy. read more

Okay, I made the schoolboy error of visiting Damiani immediately after a tasting at Hazlitt, which blows all wine-tasting logic out of the water - Hazlitt's wines are, of course, syrupy-sweet. Damiani's, by contrast, are like battery acid. If you're doing both of these in sequence, do Damiani first! It's all excellent wine - if you like dry, complex reds, this is absolutely superb stuff, but I wasn't offered any palate cleansers or water, something I would feel is a must with more complex wines, especially reds like the Pinot Noir here - and with Hazlitt clogging my palate, they blurred into one another with alarming ease. A bowl of crackers and a carafe of water would add a star to this review easily - it's a great little tasting room with friendly staff and an amazing view. read more

Specializing in red wines, Damiani is worth a visit. On a recent Saturday, Damiani was offering gourmet chocolate samples from a local chocolatier that paired perfectly with their wines. The servers in the tasting room know their stuff about wine and provided just the right amount of information for us to make good choices. My partner loves sparkling wines, so I made it my mission to find a winery that offered such selections. Their Brut was well balanced, great aroma and mouth feel, as was their Pinot Noir. Would definitely recommend this as a winery to chose for your next trip to the finger lakes especially if you are staying near the Hector area. We went on a Thursday night where they have live music and a food truck which is a nice touch. The winds were good that we tried although we only got to taste two of the wines. There are numerous other options in the area that provide better customer service. We arrived later in the day and there seemed to be a wedding starting downstairs soon but were told we could still have a tasting upstairs. The college-aged staffer who helped us was extremely nice and amicable. However, the older woman (perhaps a manager or owner?) was very rude! She grabbed a wine bottle out of the younger staffer's hand and was visibly annoyed when I asked for water. I give kudos to the young staffer for staying friendly and respectful when someone who is likely to be her supervisor could not. If the cannot winery cannot handle tastings and wedding prepping simultaneously please let us know by your hours online or when we arrive. read more

Last summer, I wrote a not-so-good review of our tasting at Damiani Wine Cellars. But, I want to now write a really good review of our tasting yesterday. My friend and I stopped in to taste the new wines. Jeremy waited on us. What a great guy! He was knowledgeable and fun. I'm a dry white kind of girl and the Little Lotus Flower Sauvignon Blanc was amazing. It's hard to find a Sauv Blanc in the Finger Lakes and this one is of the French style. Amazing. Also really enjoyed the Bollicine sparkling. Actually, all the whites were good and my friend, who is a red wine drinker, had the same to say of the reds. Our second favorite Finger Lakes winery. We like dry wines and my husband really enjoyed the Reserve red tasting. The retired gentleman pouring our tastings was very pleasant, knowledgeable, attentive, but not pushy. The unusual chocolates available for tasting on site was another nice touch. We just got the card of 10 different small chocolates (an interesting array including fruit and some with herbs like basil). We will definitely return. read more

If going with more than 3, Please read: This was the third stop in our exciting trip on the East side of Seneca lake. In regards to consumption, no one in our group was remotely near or close to the finish line. We simply wanted to have a nice time enjoying the Finger Lakes Wineries. Upon approaching the serving bar with seven people sampling their wines, a discontented women greeted us with rudeness as she proclaimed that a party with our size should have made reservations. It was clear from the look on her face; she hates her job and interacting with people. She told us to move everyone to a different location as she handed us a menu with nearly a third of the wine selections listed. At this point, she was made aware that only 7 people were tasting and why the selective menu. She said it's because of the size and we asked her to check with her manager to see if we could taste from the extensive "regular" menu. An elderly man, manager on duty, approached us as if we did something wrong as he continued with the reservation response. When asked what he considered a large group he replied "8 or more, but let's not get technical." Now if you owned a business, and you didn't want to be technical, would you not err on the side of 8 or more people. Not to mention, they weren't busy at at all. This ruined the tasting for everyone in my party. Regardless of product or how good the wine is, it's the the principle. We left and walk to the distillery. One member who only had one drink was upset because he liked their winery walked back to the winery. He was talking to the manager when the manager shouted he was "f***ing sick of dealing with people who have been drinking alcohol." Owner: this is the *second* time for a few in party to be met with rudeness at your winery. I happen to know you would not have condone such behavior. Reconsider the importance of your work, business, and principalities. Get new staff!! Take notes from the surrounding wineries and the distillery... who had no problem accommodating a party of 7. I stopped in for the chocolate tasting with 5 of my girlfriends the other day. It was a bit crowded, but our bartender was able to serve us with the tasting pretty quick. Our favorite winery of our Finger Lakes visit. As recommended by several people, the reds were terrific. We came home with Cabernet Franc and Meritage. Will be ordering more. Though known for their reds, I really enjoyed their Chardonnay also. The woman doing our tasting was fun, friendly and informative. Hearing this was our first visit to the area, she brought us a number of brochures and highlighted points of interest. We maybe got to about ten of the wineries, but this one stood out. We were met by Jeremy, who was greatly accommodating and knowledgeable about the wine, the area and the history. We stopped for a tasting and stayed for a few more glasses once we found what we liked best. Great view, great wine, great service. My husband and I like big, bold red wines, so we did the reserve tasting. The person who gave us the tasting explained the regions wines and how the growing season is too short for these kinds of wines. Some of the wineries have done better than others, though, and we found the Damiani wines to be too light for our tastes. I've been to Damiani every year since they opened and they have been consistently one of the best wineries in the Finger Lakes. Did a complete tasting on my annual labor Day pilgrimage to the Finger Lakes and was wowed by one wine after another. Especially impressive was the 2010 pinot noir from the davis vineyard. If you're looking for sweet wines, head over to nearby Rasta Ranch. But if you're a serious wine drinker looking for high quality wines, Damiani is the place to go. read more

Very easily my favorite winery. I've lived in the area and worked in the wine industry for some time, and nothing can compare.

This vineyard focuses on dry wines - which is why we visited them and we were not disappointed. The young girl behind the tasting table was friendly and very knowledgeable. We selected our wines for tasting and tasted their reserve as well. We ended up buying our favorites: Cab Franc Select Meritage Brut The vineyard is on top of a hill with a beautiful view of the lake. Definitely a must stop. read more

I am generally not a fan of dry wines but Damiani has won me over. They have a great selection of whites and reds. Their best including a blend, MC2 and a semi-dry Reisling. They have a Meritage that is great and only second to my favorite from Wagner. read more

The winery has a beautiful Seneca lake location. Sadly the wines are all crap. Even the Pinot Noir tastes like a watered down version of a real wine. The service Was also extremely slow. Our third visit to a perennial favorite. Love coming here for the laid back but super-knowledgeable staff, Michael most of all. Tasted through everything that was new to us. Surprised at how well the '16 barrel fermented Chardonnay has turned out, as well as the '17 dry rosé. As always, the 2016 MC^2 blend, 2015 Meritage (of note due to the difficult vintage), and host of other reds impressed us. This winery has a dedicated following for good reason. A must-visit for anyone who says the Finger Lakes can't make a decent red. read more

Wine with chocolate tasting is fun, but the wines are just ok. Chocolate are amazing. On a Saturday (at 4pm and on our first tasting for the day) we were greeted rudely, told we couldn't have more than one tasting because apparently six pours equal a glass (they were barely two sips per pour..and the pourer was pouring himself much more generously to "make sure the bottle was ok". We got zero wine descriptions with our pours and the last straw was when he splashed red wine on my partners clothing when he was pouring. He apologized, but no one offered us anything as an apology which is just terrible customer service, considering her clothes may be attained and she had to walk around with embarrassing wet spots on her pants for a while now. The whole experience left a worse taste in our mouths than a bad bottle of wine would have. Sorry, not recommended. read more
