But if you're expecting a quiet and relaxing environment like you're at a traditional spa or 5-star hotel, this is not the place for you. If you're okay with noise in the background such as doors opening and closing, people talking in the hallway, timers going off, etc then you won't mind this place. There are separate rooms, but the walls in between don't go to the ceiling, so you can hear everything going on in the other rooms as well as at the front. I could hear when someone walked in the front door as well as their entire conversation with the front desk staff. They play nice spa music, but it doesn't drown out all of the background noise. All of that aside, I booked with Cindy since she was mentioned in a couple of Google reviews. The massage itself was great, and I'd recommend her if you try this place out. She didn't ask about pressure, but I'd say she did medium / deep tissue. I'm sure if you want a lighter pressure, you could ask, but I didn't mind. Also, they don't pressure you to tip a certain amount. I tipped 20% because Cindy was great, but I read at some neighboring spas they pressure you to tip a certain amount, which I found to be strange. However, here you can tip what you feel is right. Overall, the staff was very nice, the place is clean & the massage is great. There's nothing luxurious about this place, but if all you care about is a great massage and great service, you'll like Village Spa.

There is also a cute seating/waiting area. We paid first and then were taken to a room. After undressing we waited 10 minutes before finally going to see when someone would come to start us. Once I asked how much longer we'd wait, they started right away. The massage time was counted from the start of the massage, not from the time of check in. During the massage I was asked what I liked and what my body needed. My partner was not asked as much. The massage was average and reasonable for the price.

The amount advertised for the 90 min or 120 min treatment is totally different from what you will be charged on your way out. I find it distasteful and rude to demand a tip greater than 18%. At one point I felt uneasy and disrespected after paying for the treatment in full and leaving a tip greater than 18%. I wasn't aware that it was mandatory to have to pay an additional amount on top of the fee and Tip that was already paid. I wasn't sure I was allowed to leave if I did not leave atleast 30% tip to satisfy the cashiers demand. This wasn't a call to resolve or fix a situation with a customer, this was more confrontational. She also said I was free to leave at anytime due to the fact that I stated , I wasn't sure if I would be allowed to leave without increasing the tip. I wasn't sure also accused of leaving a false review of my experience and at that point I asked if it was possible to get an email contact for the owner. If it wasn't my neck and shoulders, it was my face or my arms and hands. I was not expecting all of that and was very happy and relaxed. Multiple tools were used on my scalp throughout the appointment, such as their fingers, gua shas and other tools to help the circulation in my scalp. There was at least 30-40 minutes of massaging before my hair even got washed. My only downside is that they use the same products for all hair types. I have very curly hair and with that comes dryness - it's the dryers hair type. They just kept telling me "your hair is dry" and it didn't seem like they had good product for my hair. After my appointment, I was headed to work so I called previously to ask if the hair is styled after the service and I was told yes "blow dried". My naive self thought that that ment a blow out. Guess not so naive, because I know there are places in the city that do finish off your service with a blow out. Really, what they meant was a light blow dry and the rest with air dry. This does not work for curly hair, sadly. My hair was a frizzy mess and was not their fault - that's just how curly hair is. You have to add product to it. So I had to run to the pharmacy to get product since I went directly to work after this. That is truly my only complaint, but to be honest, I would still book again and just know to bring my own styling products to apply after the massage and wash. They started with pressure point work over the sheets to gauge how firm of pressure we would prefer for the massage. This lasted for several minutes getting our bodies warmed up to the massage. Then the actual bodywork began, our masseuses pulled the sheets down to the back of our legs. And then pulled our underwear down past our butt cheeks to expose them for the massage. The bodywork was amazing! They used long firm strokes going up and down our back. This was the majority of the massage. Emphasis was put on massaging our neck, shoulders, and glutes, all of which was perfectly done. As the massage time winded down they moved to our legs doing our hamstrings, calves and feet. At the very end we were asked to flip over but probably spent less than 10 minutes face up for the treatment. By the end of the 60 minutes we felt incredibly relaxed and satisfied with the massage! Overall Aroma Spa is a very solid option for a massage. You might not get all the extra frills of an expensive luxury spa but everything here was fairly priced and well worth the money!

That's where the magic begins. Upon entering, you are greeted by a soft, aromatherapy scent - this immediately sets the stage. You remove your shoes and change into provided slides. You are then quietly ushered into the treatment room. (Remember to silence your phone. Better yet, leave that phone in the car, this is you time.) We came for reflexology, a treatment I've never had before. While it's not required, you'll get more from your treatment by removing your shirt - sports bra is probably a good idea but you're in private so just a bra is ok too. (Remember your mom's words - always wear clean underwear!!) Oh, and wear shorts, although they will give you a pair if you forgot. First, you are given a tub of hot water with flower petals to immerse your feet in while you enjoy a neck, upper back, arm and hand massage. The oil is removed with hot towels that further ease any residual stress from your upper body. From there, you are told to lie on a the table and covered in a soft blanket while a warm, aromatherapy infused wrap is placed behind your neck. If you weren't already relaxed, here is where the melting begins. A deep massage is given to the legs and feet - you will wish this never ends. Once again, warm towels are placed on your legs and the oil wiped off. Your therapist then comes to the head of the table for a short scalp massage. All good things must come to an end. You get dressed and upon leaving the treatment room you are offered a small cup of herbal tea. A perfect ending to a perfect hour. Beauty City's prices are extremely reasonable. The spa is very clean and the therapists beyond competent. I don't live in the area (or even the same coast) but I hope to find something like this in my hometown. I highly recommend you take advantage of this hidden gem.
