Sophia got all the knots out and was very attentive to pressure and asked a bunch of times to let her know if it's too much. Made an appointment same day.... Very welcoming. Clean and friendly! The first time I used a groupon, no problem. Yes you have to pay tax on the groupon. Massage was no Nonsense massage more than relaxing spa experience. I tipped 7 based on the groupon price. (Which is very close to the regular price) Months later I hurt my shoulder, called in am got right in. No groupon. Same massage same therapist except this time, stones were very very hot, I asked her to stop too hot. Massage was exactly what I needed for my shoulder. No complaints, until I paid. Due to the seriously hot stones that burned my back. I gave her a 5 tip. I was then told it was a min 20% 10.00 tip requirement. Imagine my surprise. I had a great, 90 minute deep tissue massage and it was only $80. That is absolutely unheard of. Seems like some of the other reviewers may not be frequent massage clients as a 20% tip is definitely standard and most places appreciate a cash tip. If you are getting discount or using a gift card you should still tip on the original already very low price( this is standard in any industry not just here) There are no frills, this is not a spa but everyone was friendly and professional. I have been to this place 3-4 times and after today's experience I know for sure I will never return or recommend it to anyone. I booked a 2 hour full body massage (yes, I needed it THAT badly) with reflexology and hot stones. I specifically asked for a deep tissue massage but the woman spent first 30 mins simply caressing my skin, I thought maybe since it is 2 hour long massage she is prepping the body for more intense pressure but no, even after reminding her several times she kept reverting back to soft. gentle touching. I finally lifted up my head and told her that I want more...a lot more pressure, so for the last 45 minutes she did fine (nothing spectacular but better than the first 85 minutes). The clock showed only 30 minutes left and she still hadn't touched my legs, when I asked her about it she said "OK" and started working on my legs. At no point she asked me to turn around to work on my upper body, chest/shoulder area...and just like that my time was up! I was super annoyed but decided to let it go because 3 times before that I had a relatively good experience here. I decided I will ask the manager to give me the same woman I used last time (which was a while ago so I don't remember her name). As I walk out she told me it was $117 with tax. I gave her my card and asked if I could pay tip in cash, she said it was ok. When I tried giving her $15 she told me "No, 20% minimum". I said "Is there a minimum tip mentioned on your website or anywhere in the facility?" to which she said "No, but you have to give me 20%". I was really amazed at that but still I told her politely "Tips are based on your experience and as you know very well I had to remind you several times during my massage to do this or that, which was not very relaxing for me. And you never did my front upper body or shoulders". She responded "I said 20%, it is $22". Baffled I told her I wanted to speak to her manager or owner of the place, to which she responded "No Owner or manager". I asked another employee and she responded the same way. I asked them what their names were and they refused to tell me that. Still I left $15 on the counter and walked out. I have never experience such levels of unprofessionalism before. I have been a loyal customer throughout this terrible global pandemic. I have always gone to a couple women at U Rleax who have given me amazing massages, and been completely wonderful. They are respectful, accommodating, and give exceptional massages. Tonight, I had a massage with a man there who was TERRIBLE. I asked him to massage my scalp first as I had a terrible headache and he responds, "who is giving the massage me or you. Stop asking." Then, he starts rubbing my neck very hard and it felt awful. I respectfully asked to move on to another body part as he was hurting me. His response "do you want to give yourself the massage?" He was rude, disrespectful and made me feel very uncomfortable. I will never go to this place again. I highly advise against it especially if you get this make massage man. So disappointed. I have given this place many referrals and spent much money there. I went with a groupon to get a foot reflexology massage for $35. I was able to easily change my appointment the same day since something came up and they were very nice about it. I had two major issues with this place which is why I gave it 3 stars- 1. The foot massage was given in the reception area which was not really too relaxing. It was a little disturbing to know that all the people in the waiting room were watching my feet getting massaged. 2. The receptionist asked me for $3 for tax in the beginning which I was okay with but when I gave a $5 tip, I was told I had to give 20% = $10. I am pretty sure 20% of $35 is $7 and not $10. But I just gave it thinking that I probably won't be back. Also, nowhere in the spa does it say there is a mandatory tip and the last time I checked it was something that is upto the customer to decide. Granted, the massage itself was really good and comparable to others I have gotten at more established spas. But beware of all the extra charges. read more

The place was not calming and relax they demanded a 10 tip and when i said it was optional they started talking to each other in their language. I would give them a zero considering I never got to HAVE the massage. My friend and I made a massage appointment with the manager, Lily. She took it down for the wrong day (a weekday, middle of the day, instead of the weekend like we made the appointment.) Not only did they never call to ask if we were coming when we "missed" that incorrect appointment, but they wouldn't take us, even though there were four people working, and enough to honor our actual appointment. For what it is, this place is really good. One just needs to manage their expectations. If you are expecting a Four Seasons Hotel massage; this isn't it. I've had two massages here and both have been really good. Its absolutely zero frills and no fancy spa stuff, but if you are looking for a relaxing low-key massage, this place is it. I had Anne both times. I personally like strong massages where it almost hurts and the massage therapist I had could accommodate that. There was also some good stretching done, which I think helped after working out. Don't go in expecting glamour...its not glamorous...but relative to other massage therapy places in the area, it's a good deal. I am a fan and will be back! read more

I came in with a Groupon voucher a little while back and was ONLY 10 min. late, due to unexpected traffic. The lady was very rude and told me that she cannot see me. She also lectured me on how I should not be late and even went as far as to ask me "would you be late to your doctor? I don't think so" I didn't even reply to her nonsense and just walked out, and never came back. I received a refund and used it elsewhere. I'm not a problematic customer at all, so I was surprised by the ladies attitude. I like U-Relax. I just went today with an expired groupon and used the $49 value and then paid the difference that was owed for the original value. The woman there were a bit confused at first but called the owner and everything was squared away super quickly. I come to U-Relax sporadically and it has always been an enjoyable experience. I am a little surprised that people have had such negative reviews and think this may have to do with a language barrier. Just an FYI a full body massage is $70 so anyone who came in with a groupon should actually be tipping on this amount and not the discounted rate because these woman work hard. read more

The prices are extremely reasonable, the staff is friendly, the massages are always relaxing and get all of my knots out. I visited this place on 12/16/14. My observations.... There was an appointment made for me at 4.45 pm. Nobody seemed to know anything about it. on a bill of $ 75 I offered a $ 15 tip. I was told that they expected a minimum of 20% tip however in this case she expected more. Although the massage was pretty good the entire payment and getting out process was disappointing. I bought a groupon coupon for this and went to the U Relax in Livingston New Jersey. It turns out that what was advertised as a "special" price with groupon was actually basically their regular price. What really surprised me was the demand for a 20% tip at the end, as well as charging me tax on my groupon coupon. I have never in my life been told I had to tip 20% regardless of the service (except for with a large group in a restaurant). They took my 10% tip and demanded another $5.00. Had a groupon for half price massage so paid $35 for $70 value. Ended up having to do foot massage because I'm pregnant and they don't do prenatal. Foot massage itself was pretty good and relaxing. My complaint is the staff was talking and going in and out of room to use the bathroom so there was constant noise. Not what you want when getting a massage for relaxation. I just visited this place for the first time. After a long run, my legs and back were aching. I told them I could be there at 12:15 and they said that was ok. They asked 60 or 90 mins on the phone. I said 90 would be fine for $75. I wish I had time to read these posts. I was there at 12:10, and they asked me to wait 10 mins, which turned into 20. The massage was actually really good. But after paying $75, plus 7% tax for credit card, I was in the tip "discussion". I do not care if they speak their language, but all they could say was that I forgot the tip on my CC. so I gave $10 cash. She said that was not enough. It did not matter what I said, there was no communication. I guess they need a sign that says 20% tip required. It is really tough for me to stand there and be told how much I should tip. Buyer beware. My sense is that these workers do not get paid well from the business, and they rely on these tips. I could be wrong. I wonder if they are underpaid. read more
