The guide not only cleaned our fish, but packed them on ice in a complimentary styrofoam cooler! The lady in charge (Betty??) treated us like family. The guide not only helped us catch fish, but even brought us back for coffee and hot chocolate when we looked cold (heavy rains slashed the temps). First fishing guide service that I have ever wanted to use again - soon!

From having highly Experienced Guides taking you out to catch more fish than any one person could dream, these guides will take you ashore to prepare a lunch of fried fish, hush puppies, taters, bananas pudding and a few jokes to start you back onto the river. ( There is also a Box lunch in place of the fresh fried that consists of what I'm told is sandwiches ) If you want a down to earth business that makes sure you catch a bunce of fish and a whole lot of memories, Call Debbie and let her hook you up!! What a Blessing to have found this place!! Thank you

We had Jamie and Curtis as our guides for a two day trip. This is definitely a full service place. They tie your hook, bait it, and tell you when to reel it in... then when you get a fish they take it off for you. I enjoy getting in there and playing with the bait and the fish, so by the second day I convinced Curtis to let me pick my crawfish and bait the hook and even take a few fish off of the hook as well. These guides really know where the fish are, and what to use to catch them. They provide lunch on some of the trips, which is generally good (store bought) food. I would suggest this service to anybody.

The fishing is always excellent and Jamie (owner) is very knowledgable of the river. They take good care of you just like family! The shore lunches are savory & the scenery is magnificent... The total package! They give you quality information on how to fish from beginner to expert. They also offer canoes, single/double kayaks, guided scenic tours, guided fishing tours (includes overnight camping or half day), and beginner to advanced fly fishing tours - there is something fun for the whole family!! I highly recommend Hurst Fishing Service over any other services offered on this river.

My Father and I just got back from an amazing trip with Larry Babin from Hogs on The Fly. My Dad…read moreasked that I post his review since he is not a big Yelp user. He is 78years old and travels all over to fly fish. This is what he wrote. "Like a lot of anglers, I always wondered about those glowing reports of fishing the White River in Arkansas. They sounded good, but the whole thing seemed too out of the way, too rustic, and too risky as a one river venue. I was wrong all around. Mountain Home, Arkansas is a spotless mid-sized town, just two easy hours from the national airport in Springfield, MO. Hotels and restaurants range from economy to upscale. And, there are two rivers: the White and the Norfolk, both tail waters. But I was right about the fishing - my daughter and I landed more than 50 fish in two days of fishing, one day on each river. Much of our success was due to our guide Larry Babin, the owner of Hogs on the Fly and manager of Natural State a Fly Shop. His boat is an Adipose skiff. It's extremely comfortable and able to skim skinny water. Of course, he knew where to go and what to tie on, but he also knew how to manage a float with both a very experienced angler and one who fishes infrequently. He knew when to advise and when to watch. Larry is a soft spoken, cheerful, young gentleman. I recommend Larry, Mountain Home, and the White and Norfolk rivers. It's an easy and very enjoyable trip to make."

He picked us up from Natural State Fly Shop, across the street from Cotter Trout Lodge, which was incredibly convenient, as we were staying there! There was never a dull moment on his boat! My wife is a beginner flyfisher and Larry coached her and she was successfully catching fish. We ended up catching 1 Cutthroat Trout, 2 Brown Trout, and I lost count of how many Rainbow Trout we caught! The White River is an exceptional fishery best fished with an exceptional guide service, Hogs on the Fly!

We looked up fly shops near us online and pulled up to the WRTC. We were warmly greeted by Missy and found ourselves in a top of the line fly shop with every reel, rod, and piece of gear you need to haul in a 40lb brown. We were able to check into a nice room with a full bath, comfy beds and a full kitchen. Kyle (one of the guides) was super helpful with what flies to throw and sent us to Rim Shoal where we got hooked into some beautiful scenery and some nice rainbows. Clay (manager) came and personally checked on us and made us feel like we were at a home away from home. I've fished Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska and plenty of southern streams. The White River Trout Club stands out as one of the best places I've stayed with its excellent hosts, amenities, scenery, and fishing. I will definitely be back with my friends and family to enjoy more of what the WRTC has to offer.
