A comment made by a front desk staff member towards me immediately made me uncomfortable and set the wrong tone, which ultimately threw off my entire visit. I was referred here by another organization and arrived with positive intentions, but that initial interaction affected my comfort level. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Customer service plays a major role in the adoption process when visitors feel comfortable with both the staff and the animals, adoptions are far more likely to move forward. I hope management takes a closer look at front desk interactions to ensure guests feel welcomed and supported.

YELPERS et al... *First - this is a NO-KILL NON-PROFIT…read moreexisting off of donations, volunteers *Second - some people you may encounter @ D&K City are better at caring for discarded animals than communicating with people. It takes all kind. Be patient, less critical. *Third - how much Volunteering or support for their cause, outside your PET-SHOPPING experience, do YOU do? Adoption fees are reasonable all things considered. ADOPTION EXPERIENCE * (2017) REX was 12, overweight & had socialization issues (probably mistreatment). Eventually he warmed up and I got his weight down. He had more costly issues than I planned but that was on me - not D&K City. *POP-UP PET-STORE VETS - BEWARE I have used 2 separate ones. Neither saved me a dime over CityVet, as advertised. Bait & switch, possibly incompetent. REX DIED a few weeks after a routine exam from VET-ON-WHEELS. The RoBo Call I received a few days after his checkup said: "You're pet recently visited one of our in-store clinics. Your pets bloodwork was unremarkable. Thank you for choosing the convince of..." I was baited by their "$79 special" that ended-up costing nearly $300 when they plus-sold me on bloodwork. I now doubt they even did the bloodwork. And, REX DIED a few weeks after the RoBo Call informing me he was fine. * (2020) BRIXIE is a beautiful Brindle Great Dane mix I adopted in May. She has a very pronounced personality different from any other dogs I've grownup with or have adopted in the last 25+ years. She is an affection hound and also part bloodhound squirrel killer. There are a lot of stupid slow squirrels that pass too close to her fence. She's also younger than the age D&K City disclosed. She's gained 20# of muscle. Sleeps-in late, only begrudgingly getting up for bfast earlier than 9. Took only a few days to potty train her without kenneling.

First of all, people on here tend to base their reviews on assumptions that the stores work with…read moredevastating puppy mills. Making those accusations without facts & bashing the business on it, only make those people look as bad & irrational as those ACTUALLY working mills.. Yeah. So my review is based on my actual experiences going in and physically working with Petland staff. And every time I visit Petland, I have an awesome experience. Eric and Dominique have made sure of that. Before I had my puppy, no matter how busy - staff was always ensuring that I was well taken care of. They were more than okay with letting me play with all the puppies I was possibly interested in until I found the right one. More than one staff member proved that they all hold a plethora of knowledge on the breeds AND where their stores even acquire the puppies from. After I got my puppy (not from Petland), Eric did a great job showing me around the store offering tools and toys I'd need for him! I ended up getting a crate starter pack. He gave me his full attention & helped me every step of the way. Very big on product knowledge too. Later, I needed a soft carrier for air travel & not only was Dominique helpful on the phone, but without even seeing me first, she knew I was the one she had spoken with & what I was looking for! She was considerate of the price range I was looking for and had me in and out so easy. Definitely a plus for Petland having her on their management staff. The animals are innocent and despite what they typically charge, Petland is doing their job in finding them all their forever homes. I'd say, if you need any kind of products or equipment for your best friend, this really is a great place to take advantage of that.

Many other pet puppy places conduct adoptions. No one knows the personality of a dog (just like a person). Why not adopt an adorable adult dog that you can know how it behaves and whether it is right for you household. I found my visit to this location making me think about ethical behavior associated with animals in our world. Please consider adoption. Many puppies and young adult dogs and cats are destroyed every year because of lack of adoptions Just saw this! Petland puppy mill puppies Petland is the only national pet store chain in the United States that still sells puppies. Petland is also the largest retailer of puppy mill dogs.
