It also allows those more fortunate a chance to "give back." The area of care I'm most familiar with is the meal service having volunteered there a few times. What I like about the program is that, in addition to feeding them, individuals are subject to a number of requirements. For instance, IDs are required for admittance. No food is allowed to leave the dining room, and so forth. Meal times are strictly enforced. And they serve three meals a day every day of the year. I've only worked on the serving line for supper a few times. The meals, though institutional, seem well balanced and nourishing. Volunteers are not allowed to sample the food. And speaking of volunteers, there's a continuing need which is filled by church groups, civic groups, school clubs and individuals. The evening meal, for instance, requires 8 - 10 volunteers and takes about an hour and a half of a persons time. Fenced parking is available. In a time of social and political polarization it is heartwarming to see folks of different backgrounds come together for the good of others.

The Bridge has multiple services which include bed/mat placement, case management , mental health services , kennel services , and much more . They accept individuals without identification. Like any other place , it is strongly advised to get here early to go through the intake process. Intake involves meeting with a case manager and getting setup with the system. A bridge ID will be provided for service coordination. It is extremely hard to get anyone on the phone for information and mailbox is usually full. There is a curfew time and meal setup is unclear. There is a donation box I utilize frequently in the staff parking lot . The homeless epidemic is growing at an alarming rate and The Bridge is playing a vital and essential role towards helping individuals in Dallas.

I've been volunteering here in the medical clinic for two years now and there are so many great services offered here for those in need. The most interesting and dynamic part of Dallas Life is a good portion of the regular staff were former residents needing assistance and recovery. Now they have the opportunity to pay it forward and help others get back on their feet as well. They are always looking for volunteers who have a heart for people, so if you're looking for a place to give back this is an awesome non-profit

Now, the issue isn't so much Dallas Life's recovery program. This is a homeless recovery center…read more The problem is with most of my roommates. It's three versus me. I feel unwanted, betrayed, and bullied. We'll see if Dallas Life does anything about it. The roommates are engaged in a smear campaign right now, telling everyone their side of things, which includes all out lies. On Sunday, one of them cussed at me, because I was using 3 cords on an 8 cord charging station. She claimed that I was using all 8, which is a lie. Now she's trying to convince everyone that she didn't cuss at me. Well, only God was witness to it. And yet, one of her friends has proven that she's willing to lie too, claiming that the original woman didn't cuss at me. The one defending her friend wasn't there. Oh, and before I forget: those same three have been guilty of charging 2 o 3 devices at the same time themselves. But Mia, she's not allowed to use ANY cords to charge her devices. I know those three have made it so that I can't be moved to the main dorm. And I'm not welcome with them in their dorm. Since I'm single, I don't think Dallas Life will move me into a private room. I'll have to go see Our Calling, and see if they can get me into Austin Street. That means dropping out of the program. But the situation is intollerable. I hope things can be resolved soon.
