Great group volunteering opportunity! You will work in assembly lines to pack boxes of rice, soy, vegetables, and vitamins and send it to children in need across the world. The signup process is simple. They play music while you volunteer & have an enthusiastic leader encouraging everyone the whole time. Lastly, we wrapped up with a pray and blessed the food. Lovely place!

Amazing ministry that not only works to meet immediate needs of starving children, but also helps start and support micro businesses that lead to self sustaining support for needy families. This was the most impactful two hours I have ever spent doing ministry! We packed enough food to feed 84 children for a year!!!! The ministry is well organized, health conscious, and fun. The packaging stations are assembly lines. Adults and children ages 5 and up work together as a team packing to upbeat music and challenging other teams to see who can pack the fastest. The time just flies by. There is also a gift shop supporting the micro businesses that is a great source for Christmas or birthday gifts. I'm hoping to work here once a month and continue helping to make a difference. Highly recommend!

We experienced as many as five of their supervisors and the quality of our experience was the same--incredibly high. We've had two other supervisors across the years. I'll share more about the other two supervisors later in this review so you can appreciate Hannah House even more. Hard to find adequate supervisors for even the normal visitation. But this was a very complex situation with the ex-wife and her family and also with the emotional, physical, and mental issues the child was dealing with. Hannah House navigated all those due to their extensive experience, education, and ongoing professional development. Such as expertise in dealing with children with ADD. Their procedures were so very professional. Yet they were so personable with the child and all family members involved in the visitation. All five we experienced helped make each visitation a very enjoyable and special time for all. In addition, later in court, their credentials, vast experience, knowledge of family law, and professional procedures including copious and astute note taking of each visitation really paid off. They were perceived as extremely credible and presented the evidence that all was well and the need for supervision has been removed. To give you an idea of what you could experience if you don't use Hannah House. I'll share about the other two supervisors we suffered through. One, (not Hannah House) only lasted a day due to the behavior from the ex-wife's family. Another (not Hannah House) was seemingly okay until we found that every time after we left, he said the child was disrespectful, etc. and we felt the poor boy was ganged up on by supervisor. Also, we found out later in court that supervisor had also been telling a totally different story to the ex-wife. He was telling us that he didn't see the need for supervision and asked why was there supervision, etc. quite a few times. He even left us alone for 30 minutes to an hour to eat or shop. He felt completely comfortable with the father and son being together alone. And he told us he had cleared this with the ex-wife. But he was hiding it from them and also told the ex-wife and family just the opposite of what he was telling us. He said the son felt unsafe around the father, etc. He did this all to keep the visitation going and keep getting paid. In court, this all came out and he crumbled under cross-examination. All this to say, it can be a jungle out there. Make the right choice and use Hannah House! Finally, I have no idea why there is even one bad review. I think someone got mad at them and then had all their friends write bad reviews. Some bad reviews were even about the wrong business--a nail care business. Don't believe them. Use Hannah House!

You don't move to the City of Excellence to be average. Thank God I ain't average!…read more I moved into my new home in Plano two weeks ago and the water towers say it all. I'm right where I belong, in the City of Excellence ;) here's the thing... you aren't excellent if you aren't leaning in to help others. I'm passionate about a ton of things, giving back to others is one of the most important. I rescheduled my every 56 days blood donation to a nearby American Red Cross but being in my new town for two weeks seeing all that it gives, I knew it was time to research how I can make an immediate impact. North Texas Food Bank was a result of my research and I'm so excited about today's effort. After relocating I suppose it's quite fitting to select "Pack and Box" it's literally all I'd been doing the past few weeks, why stop now?!! I had the greatest first time volunteer experience. I signed up last night right before bed because and knew I was going to the gym at 6a with my neighbor so I selected the 1p (arrive by 1230p) time slot. Creating a new volunteer account was super straight forward. I was adding this event to my calendar within minutes. I was greeted by the sweetest ladies upon arrival, offered a locker key (wear a fanny pack if you don't have pockets and wish to bring your phone in) as you aren't wearing aprons. I left my phone in the locker. We did a brief orientation, hand washing and then volunteered for our assignments. I've put together a ton of boxes lately, so I opted for packing. I'm not certain I've ever handled so much boxed milk in my entire lifetime! I was first in the assembly line working hand in hand with Apple juice volunteer and let me just say, we did the damn thang!!! It was such a fun experience I never took a single break. My right arm will soon remind me of this fact. We packed 960 boxes, totaling 20 pallets, weighing 28,800 lbs, creating 24,000 meals! I'm a numbers nerd and love the data following your shift. It makes it that much more rewarding. Impact you can see and feel. There were several corporate groups, families and solo volunteers. Everyone was very kind. I'll definitely be volunteering here on a regular basis as my schedule provides. Thank you so much North Texas Food Bank! As a foodie, meals for those in need is a cause I hold near and dear to my heart. Highly recommend if you're looking to serve others. There are a variety of opportunities. I selected this one today but I may explore others in the near future. Hands down a superb way to spend 3 hours, and the warehouse is nice and cool on a warm day. Perfect place to volunteer in the summer (:

Rainbow Days is one of the BEST nonprofit organizations in Dallas…read more Rainbow Days first came to my attention randomly years ago when I was looking for an organization to donate to, but due to a career change I've had the privilege to network with them thanks to my work as a housing case manager and substance use disorder counselor, and I cannot tell you what this organization means to so many families who are hit hard by housing instability and homelessness. I sit in awe at the wonderful activities that encourages the kids to look beyond their present circumstances, dare to dream big, focus on their education, tap into their feelings, stay drug and tobacco free, and most of all, have fun and stay kids. You'd be amazed what this organization can do with a little and how many kids they help each year. It is something in the tune of 142,000! They do summer camps, fun summer outings, they are involved in Turkey Dunk, Back to School Kick Off that provides brand new uniforms and school supplies, they supply diapers and other baby items year around to various organizations and so, so, so much more. I think their major messages they instill in the kids say it all: " I AM likeable, capable, unique and valued. I CAN treat others like I want to be treated. I HAVE strengths, capabilities and people who care about me. I WILL make healthy choices and be alcohol, tobacco and drug free. I BELIEVE I have a purpose." If you see the smile on these kids faces you too will want to donate. I'm serious. Every time they come back they are exhausted but still smiling from ear to ear. Five stars all around for them making such an amazing difference in our city and showing the kids how special they are.

About 3 weeks ago me and my 2 YO son was exited from the program after a a month stay (which I was more than happy to do) Although the facility is nice it's definitely not for any domestic violence victims And I strongly urge you to stay far away. Not only is the staff aggressive and tempromental but extremely controlling. Controlling over your whereabouts every second of the day, Every dime you make, what you can spend (if they allow it) where you can go, where you can work, where your kids go to school ect. The manipulation and re victimizing is completely beyond me. I was mortified when I found out they kept tabs and cameras on when I was eating and if I "ate too late" or if I didn't do something according to detailed description. I honestly feel this place should be shut down because the way its being ran is ineffective. And in the beginning they give women a false sense of security to make things look good for the donors, it's completely sad... . My lawyer was completed to sue but due to clause in the agreement you have to sign, it would be difficult.... Just do yourself a favor stay on the street or stay away.I fell bad for anyone who comes in contact with the current staff and I feel horrible for the founder who I'm sure started this non profit in "good faith"

The Collective includes Local Good Center, Local Good Coffee Co., Local Good Resale, and Local Good Pantry .. each one tackling a different need in the community, but all sharing the same heart: to meet needs with dignity. The Local Good Pantry opened in November 2023 after another local pantry shut its doors. They serve over 1,500 families each week (says the nicest volunteer who was telling me their history) . What makes this place special is the way it runs: no red tape, no judgment.. just help. You simply bring an ID and a current address, and volunteers welcome you with kindness (and sometimes a smile big enough to outshine the Texas sun). They provide fresh food, pantry staples, diapers, wipes, and even laundry soap, all the things that stretch a struggling family's budget the furthest. The Local Good Pantry operates with a "dignity-first" approach, treating everyone like family. And because it's part of the larger Local Good Collective, proceeds from the coffee shop and resale store help fund pantry operations (a brilliant cycle of giving that keeps the mission sustainable). The owners are generous beyond words, just unconditional love and support every step of the way. Their cause is noble, their hearts are boundless, and they truly live by example. Could gush over them for days for all the help they've given me. Amazing housing accommodations- literally fully stocked cottage with the most tasteful decor and well thought out necessities already provided. If something wasn't there, they were eager to provide it asap. The farm is just adorable; all the animals are well taken care of and are such a pleasure to visit. There's a full-sized oven/stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, washer and dryer provided, a place to shower, storage embedded for me to squirrel away belongings as needed, too lol.
