Recently purchased a beginner 5-piece set (Tama Imperialstar) for my 10-year-old son, after two years of listening to him beg. I have to admit, I never knew Dale's existed until I started researching. I realize Guitar Center is nearby, and nothing against them, but the reviews for Dale's pushed me to "shop locally". Best decision I ever made. These folks are patient, EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and have such a wide selection that it's almost impossible to inventory. You would expect such a widely-known store to gouge you on prices, but Dale's was extremely competitive and beat many of the prices that I found (even online!). Once I purchased, they even helped me load the two heavy boxes into my vehicle. If you get a chance to visit, don't forget to peruse the different pictures in the stairwell. You'll see some true greats who have stopped by. Dale himself is a local legend... who else can say they worked for Buddy Rich? One of these days, I'd love to buy him his drink of choice and listen. Lucky for me, Dale's is a short ride from my home and I come here frequently for all of my drumming needs. Everything they sell is much less expensive than what you will find online and pretty much anywhere else. Customer service is second to none and all of the sales people are drummers, which helps when you really need good information on important purchases. The store has such a huge selection and inventory of all of the major brands and is a real treat for drummers to have a store dedicated to our needs. I love this place and don't even bother looking elsewhere because supporting local businesses is important and their prices really can't be beat. read more

I was in the market for a new Tama Star Walnut kit. And across the entire country, only one person was able to get the kit and finish I wanted, and that was Rej Troup from Dale's Drum Shop. I've purchased drums and hardware from all over the world, and no one has provided the level of customer success that Rej was able to provide. He was transparent throughout the entire process and was constantly sending me updates in the progress of the drum kit from manufacturing to shipment. You could tell Rej knew what he was doing. The drums arrived in the exact timeframe he promised, and provided a great deal on some combination stands. Dale's is the real deal, and Rej is a huge part of their success. I needed a part for my 40s Ludwig kit that I built and the man, the myth, the legend Dale answered my distress email! Not only did he have the part I was looking for (and for a very reasonable price) but he sent two because he had an extra one! This is the type of business that I believe in; old school and personable (even if just through email). I cannot recommend these guys enough. Dale's is one of the best drum shops there is. It's a "5 Star" Drum Shop, which means they get exclusive deals on some items. For example, a 14" coated Remo Ambassador drumhead is $3 to $5 cheaper here than at my local shop. They carry DW, Pearl, Tama, Ludwig, Gretsch, Sonor, Sabian, Zildjian, Paiste, and many other major brands. Cymbal and drumhead prices are among the best. The service is consistently good -- I had a warranty issue that Rej worked hard to set right for me. Dave and Gabe are great guys for your everyday drum and cymbal purchases. I attended two special events in the last year -- special tour dates from Sabian and Zildjian. Sabian was making cymbals to order on-site, and both companies had a large selection of prototype cymbals on hand. I do wish there were more new Ludwig drums on display, and I'd like to see Bosphorus and/or Istanbul Agop cymbals. I know they can't carry everything, but these two brands are gaining ground all the time. The store's website needs help too. They recently revamped it and got rid of an out-of-date design. But what they replaced it with has virtually no inventory listed. Looks great, but that's about it. And it won't matter if you go for a visit. read more

I love Dale's, I have been coming here since I was gifted with some birthday money and purchased a roto-tom. I later got a bass drum and came back for a high hat after getting some more used gear. I remember Dale used to be in the place as you came in and now I bring my son to check out new gear. Having been to Memphis Drum Shop and Fork's in Nashville, I would rate Dale's at the same level....excellent. While the building is modest from the outside, inside is a treasure trove of anything a drummer would want. Huge array of Zildjian, Paiste, Sabian, Meinl and other cymbals with a nice selection of used cymbals also. In drums, they're strongest in Tama, Ludwig, and DW. Upstairs there are always good deals to be had on used kits. Massive assortment of new snare drums in the main showroom. I bought a set of Tama Superstar Classics by phone, and shipping, payment, etc was a breeze. Excellent customer service. I'm sure Dale's is one of the first shops to get the newest gear from their suppliers. In fact, I had heard whisperings about Sabian's new line of AAX Thin Crashes, and sure enough, the morning I was there they were unboxing them and already putting on demos. Dale's is well worth the drive (an easy 2 hours for me), and something will always follow you home. Highly recommended. read more

I have been going to Dale's Drum Shop since the 1980's and I can tell you it is the premier drum shop of the east coast and maybe the whole USA. From the extensive inventory of parts to the top of the line drums and cymbals, all at the bet prices you will find. Dale's is the place for any drummer. I have seen drummers from local bands all the way up to internationally known drummers in Dale's. They are always promoting music and drummers with drum clinics and special events. They have a sign up in the shop that reads "We would rather make friends than dollars" and that is true. Great, helpful staff work there and they are all drummers. Most of them are working in local bands. From beginners to professionals, whatever you are looking for in drums, Dale's can get it for you. Awesomely helpful people. Dale's Drum Shop is by far the best source for drums and percussion in the region. Its selection is unparalleled, offering a full line of any brand worth knowing about. The prices are competitive, and have been, in my experience, always better than the big online and box stores, if even by only a few dollars. But generally the prices are excellent, especially on cymbals. My most recent purchase to add to my arsenal was a Tama drum kit that I scored for nearly 30% less than anywhere else I've seen. The service is where Dale's really shines. In all the years I've been going there, I've never had an unpleasant experience. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and above all, laid back. Nobody has ever been pushy or suffocating while I peruse the showrooms, and every one of them are friendly, and absolutely passionate about music. Yes, this is my first review, and yes I've rated it a whopping five stars. But I see little room for improvement by such a stellar mom-and-pop business, and as a working musician, I'm happy they're around. This is the best, most well-stocked drum store I have ever been to. They have over 20 full drums sets upstairs, over 100 cymbals and at least 30 different snare drums. Only a real drummer, Dale, would have a great shop like this. Dale used to be the road guy that set-up Buddy Rich's drum set. Dale's Drum Shop is 2.5 hours from my house but it was worth the drive. Dale's is the absolute best drum store I have ever been to. The whole crew is extremely knowledgable and helpful. If you have a question, you can rest assured knowing that they can give you the answer. Dale's carries top of the line drums, cymbals and hardware. If you go in looking for something specific, they will either have it, get it for you, or tell you where you would be able to pick it up. I was there with a long list of needs including cymbals, stands, heads, sticks, and so on. The staff was nice but didn't hound me which I can't stand. I looked around and they have killer selection of everything from beginner sets and cymbals to very high end equipment. Decent selection of used gear not listed on their website. I was well taken care of and will return for the selection and helpful staff, would recommend stopping by if you're in the mood for great percussion selection and prices. read more
