My partner and I ordered the Big Bacon Burger and a medium order of fries. The burger comes with two patties, chopped bacon, extra cheese, mustard, and pickles and we added jalapeños. It was exactly what you want from a classic mom-and-pop burger....juicy, tender and loaded with flavor. The kind of burger where you know it's going to get a little messy, in the best possible way. The medium fry is huge. The bag was packed full and could easily feed four people. They don't have a fountain drink machine, but they offer canned and bottled drinks. I had a Fitz root beer and my partner had a coke. With tip, our total came out to around $42. The food is made fresh to order, so there is a short wait, but it really wasn't bad at all and it's worth it for the quality. There are only about five booths for indoor seating, so like other reviewers mentioned, a lot of folks were grabbing their food to go. This place is definitely a hidden gem. I like the food a lot, but every time I go in the staff makes me wish I didn't. The person at the counter today was Just hostile and unpleasant. She was actively sneering as I ordered and sighed multiple times in a very short conversation. She didn't seem as angry at the other people ordering after and this was the first time I've ever encountered her so I can't imagine it was something personal. It makes me think it was prejudice and that sucks. It's also really muggy in the building and the door is broken or something and shakes the whole glass front wall every time it slams shut. read more

Checked out this pretty tiny burger restaurant in Carbondale. Dale's has plenty of options as far as burgers, and more. It has meaty, as well as plenty of plant based options. Also the prices are pretty good. There's only a couple tables inside, so most people get takeout. Basically the main thing is burgers. It's far from the only thing they have obviously. There's also chicken and other sandwiches. Not only for meat eaters. Other options include plant based versions. It's about $7 for the Impossible Burger. Pay a couple more bucks to get a double, and a few more bucks to get fries or sides. Even has vegan cheese and mayonnaise. They certainly pack a ton of options in this small ass space. For sure check it out if you want a burger. It's located in the Murdale Shopping Center on West Main Street. There's plenty of things for meat eaters and vegans. read more

Dale's came highly recommended for the best burger around from a friend. We decided to give it a try on a Saturday around lunch time. It wasn't busy when we first arrived, but they got busy quick! Between take out orders and people dining in, it was hopping! They have a small area with 4 booths inside, and they have two outdoor tables on the sidewalk out front. Drinks are all by the can or bottle. The menu was extensive, but we went with bacon cheeseburgers and cheese fries. It was absolutely delicious! The fries are fresh cut and the cheese sauce was a perfect addition. The bacon on the burger was thick cut and very flavorful. The burgers were cooked perfectly. The food is very flavorful, and worth the money. The loaded fries feel like they weigh 10lbs. First time I got the spicy chicken bacon ranch fries, and they were dynamite (as in yummy, not too spicy). The patty melt is also very good. This time I got the Gyro fries, and they were super refreshing and tangy. The meat is noticeably high quality (i believe they source their meat from wenneman farms). Big portions as well. Not much seating, would only recommend getting takeout. The staff are all college students it appears, but they are all super friendly and keep the place very clean! read more

I placed an order for take out over the phone at 11:24. They said it would take 15 minutes. I arrived at 11:44 and the food was not ready. They didn't even start making it. I was told it would be a five minute wait and I am still here at 11:53. They have good food don't get me wrong but I won't be wasting my time waiting for it when I did my part correctly. I didn't receive any type of compensation for having to wait additional time for my food. I saw several other orders go out before mine and I am simply not happy. This was not a great experience at all. Please do better! read more

I always love to try and give mom and pop places a try before going to the chain restaurants. This is the second time I have ate here and both times were not the best for myself and coworkers. The staff is friendly and the facility itself is not bad. It only has two booths in it and an eating ledge like what you would find in a Chicago hotdog place. What I did not care for was the food. It is not bad but for myself and coworkers we will definitely not be back. The hamburger buns are cooked on the grill and both times mine were really hard and almost burnt. The patty itself was dry and small. The fries are supposed to be hand cut and for the most part they did seem like it. However, mine were cooked so long I felt like I was eating potato chips. I also know that prices are rising in the country but for the quality and quantity of what you get the meals are way overpriced. Overall if you looking to try a new burger/sandwich place out in Carbondale go ahead and try this place. You could like it or have better luck than I. For myself and my coworkers we will keep driving past and eat somewhere else. read more

We are here visiting our college student and happened upon this gem! They offer fresh made burgers, Chicago dogs, Chicago beef sandwiches, and chicken sandwiches. We ordered 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich and they were excellent! The only downside is that there is only 2 tables so if there's a lot of people ordering, the chances of getting a table is low. First off I'd like to say the service was amazing. 2 guys were holding down the swarm of customers in line they were cooking handing out food and answering the phone. I watched them hand out at least 15 meals in a short manner of time. My expectations were 100000% met when I got this burger it was juicy but crunchy and every ingredient was fresh. One of the best places in Carbondale to eat anywhere in town for vegans and vegetarians. This place has a vegan menu that beats most vegetarian restaurants. Vegan chili, chili dogs, burgers, bqq jackfruit, varied vegan cheeses... They've got a house vegan burger but more importantly they've got the impossible burger. SO frickin good. I got a double bacon cheeseburger, side of fried pickles, and a drink. No fries mind you. The total was barely under 23 dollars. The burger was just okay. The fried pickles were beyond greasy and almost inedible, good thing there were hardly any in the box. Idk how a business can charge 23 dollars for a burger. I really enjoyed my veggie burger and fries, and the girl behind the counter was so patient and sweet about answering my questions about veg options. The food was pretty prompt, and I can't say enough how friendly the service was. The only thing that bothered me personally in anyway was the vegan and vegetarian options not being clearly posted anywhere. It feels like you need to ask to figure out what is, and since they have so many-it'd be nice if they were clearly stated somewhere for people to read! We give restaurants a great welcome in this area, and I waited until things were settled down before trying Dale's. Summary, burger is terrible, fries are pretty good, they don't have enough AC or ventilation on the hood, so you are breathing the fryer, and that is bad for you. They have no idea how to run a restaurant. Very little process, staff is untrained. The cook mashed my burger repeatedly with a spatula, turning it into shoe leather. The bun isn't toasted, even though it was of higher quality. You can customize what condiments on the bun, and I got that correctly. I would never get a burger here again, unless they learn how to cook them correctly. The fries came in a separate paper bag, and they were good. Cooked well, not much salt so I added my own. I want in at 2:30 on Sunday, the place had no customers, but was still hot and full of smoke from the fryer. It was 75 degrees outside. Not enough negative air pressure to keep the grease under the hood I guess? I wonder how often they wash the hood filters? Not often enough is my guess. It is cheaper the Fat Pattie's or S&B, but the burger is far worse. read more
