This brewery blew us away with its fantastic selection of craft beers --We ordered a flight and all 7 were delicious, but our favorite was the Vertical Mile IPA and the Dark Matter Rye PA. Joe was super friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the beer. He took the time to walk us through the tap list, made some great recommendations, and even gave us a little insight into the brewing process. His energy and hospitality truly made us feel welcome. An amazing little gem in the Heart of Lead. They had 7 of their own beers on tap and none of them disappointed. It's clearly supported by locals because I think it was obvious we weren't from town but the second we closed the door a local handed us the beer list and we had a great time. The bartenders were very friendly and the overall atmosphere is warm and inviting. Drink your face off here. You won't regret it. read more

What a little gem. You know Steve and Linda are on to something when they are only open 4 hours two days a week and they can't keep their delicious beers in stock. Currently Shivers is only open from 4pm to 8pm on Friday and Saturday nights. When I first saw the hours I scoffed and thought that will never last. Truth - now I'm among the cult following piling out of their vehicles on Main St Lead at 3:59pm making a mad dash for the front counter to taste some fresh creations. I love the Dark Matter Rye (a play on the dark matter the scientists are studying at the nearby Sanford underground research lab). The old English ESB is smooth and tasty. Actually, last night we had a flight of all five and loved them all. I've never owned a Growler until now. Hate to go without the Shivers from Sunday to the next Friday so I keep a little in the fridge at home now. Great people, passion for their craft, a neat addition to Lead's up and coming Main St scene. read more

very cute little brewery that is family operated. Sits in a historic building that just adds to the charm. Very good beers and good selections. Dog Friendly with 2 patios one on upper flow (entrance level) and a patio with grass area on lower level. This is a must do if you are in deadwood. No food but you can bring your own and they have popcorn. read more

Linda, Steve and Terry have made my transition to Lead, South Dakota absolutely amazing. I try to make it into Shivers every time they're open. At this point it is like a second home to me, they know my dog and I by name and allow me to bring my pup in anytime, in fact they encourage it! I've been to many micro breweries in my life and tried vast assortments of beer and I can honestly say they have the best beer I've ever had, and it's not just one. All of the beer they brew is absolutely fantastic and I'm honestly bummed out on the days they're not open, all I can say is if you just drive by and look at this place without stopping in you're truly missing out on an amazing atmosphere with great people and fantastic beer. read more
