Very limited online portal for managing mail and no visibility to see how much shipping they will charge you prior to sending you your mail. Only option to ship via USPS or FedEx and be warned that their FedEx prices are OUTRAGEOUS! $50 to send a .4 lb FedEx Envelope Express Saver which was only $17.85 on FedEx.com. No service to deposit checks. Have had issues with them not sending all of my mail when I have requested to "Send All". Falling way behind competition. read more

Dakota Post started off pretty nice... Very helpful when it came to getting residency set up. First issue I encountered was getting mail sent to me, not realizing their accountant was on vacation. No prices are included and my balance was not going down drastically, so I had a few shipments. Suddenly my account was at -$365. Apparently the accountant had come back and updated things. I had no idea it was costing me $60-100 to send my mail. I called, came to terms with the fact I would have to suck it up. After explaining I couldn't afford that much at once due to other expenses, I was assured there were no late fees and I could add money to my wallet here and there when I could afford it... 3 days ago, they charged my bank account $400. I did not have a payment method saved with them. They used my card that I first signed up with (which they claim they do not store) without my permission, putting my bank account in the negative. I borrowed money from my wife to repair my bank account, and now I'm dealing with my DakotaPost account still showing I have not made a payment, so they will not send my mail, which is important because they have my vehicle titles in the mailbox there. they also charged more than I owed them when they did the unauthorized payment. One other thing I do not like is they charge you a $5 "special handling" fee each time they send your mail, which is not something they tell you up front. Based on my recent experience, I will be closing my box there and going elsewhere. read more

Prior to selling my home in Maryland. I begin a detailed search for information on establishing a legal address for changing state residency as a full-time travelling RV dweller. As a result, I stumbled upon an article regarding this issue which also explained why post office boxes are not considered residential addresses. In addition the article stated, "Mail forwarding services in many states would issue new residents the required street address such as Americas Mailbox, Amalie6, DakotaPost, Digital Mailbox, iPostal1, Panamail, PostScanMail, Traveling Mailbox, US Global Mail, USPS, Your Best Address to name a few". Based on my research and varied findings I selected DakotaPost located at 3916 N Potsdam Ave, as my mail forwarding service because of its proximity to my Sioux Falls, SD residence as well as for its claim, "Your mail. Where you want it. When you want it." Therefore, mail forwarding services provided by this company from January 2018 to February 2020 was adequate. Once I begin travelling from state-to-state and city-to-city mail services from this company declined. It became evident that employees and managers could care less whether I got my mail within a suitable time or not. For instance, I take life-sustaining medications twice a day because of open-heart surgery, mitral valve implant, heart-attack, cataracts, glaucoma, a stroke and asthmatic. However, medications were returned to DakotaPost because (1) it was shipped to the wrong address and therefore returned; although a new address was provided, (2) medications shipped in ice cooler had thawed, (3) delivery boxes damaged and display several old shipping labels, (4) I spoke with two employees and required my mail be held for personal pickup because blood pressure meds and two face mask were in my mailbox and I was on my way home (to Sioux Falls); neither person told me mail could not be picked up in person. After driving for three and a half days, I arrived on the parking lot of DakotaPost; walked to the front door and read a sign that stated, "Call this number for mail." Upon calling the number, I was told mail could only be mailed to me." I was livid for the following reasons: (1) I spoke to two employees regarding my planned travel to Sioux Falls, (2) In comparison to local post offices, FedEx, and UPS. DakotaPost is a small mail service provider. As such, it was hard to believe the manager of this company could not develop a sensible safe plan to keep employees safe while providing services to customers arriving on its parking lot. Such as, once a customer calls the posted telephone number on the glass. He/she could press their driver's license against the same glass under these instructions for verification. Then, employees remove all mail from customers mailboxes and put it in a cart, paper bag or plastic bag and set it outside the front door. Once the door is closed and locked. Customers walkup and retrieve his/her mail. (3) based on the nonperformance of this company's employees and manager during covit-19 was callous and unprofessional. (4) My mail arrived in Arizona two weeks after I returned from Sioux Falls, SD. On the other hand, this company's manager and employee had no problem charging my credit card for the following: March 5, 2020, original amount $225.93; March 5, 2020 - personal care $101.50; March 5, 2020 - personal care $101.50; March 17, 2020 - personal care $101.50; April 01, 2020 - personal care $101.50; April 01, 2020 - personal care $101.50; April 01, 2020 - personal care $101.50; May 11, 2020 - personal care $101.50; May 14, 2020 - personal care $101.50; May 19, 2020 - personal care $152.25; May 29, 2020 - personal care $101.50; June 18, 2020 - personal care $101.50. It appears my credit card was recharged for returned mail that this company screwed up. I've been using their service for coming up on a year and a half, and while I wouldn't say it's perfect, it's been a pretty good experience for me. I just finished the process of signing up for mail service through this company and have nothing but positive things to say. From start to finish they made things easy, were patient with my many questions and provided above average customer service. I specifically had positive experiences with Nick who seemed extra helpful. He was very transparent, taking the time to explain all billing and plan options to my husband and I. He also went above and beyond to ensure I didn't feel like a pain for my many phone calls and in person questions by assuring me that I was welcome to call as often as I like and with anything regarding my new South Dakota residency even if it had nothing to do with my mail service. He said he would be able to put me in touch with someone who could answer my questions if he ever could not. We have been using this service since 2010, shortly after we became full-time RVers. We have never had an issue and are thrilled they continue to do such a good job with our mail. The office staff is wonderful and bend over backwards to provide excellent service in all areas. It is especially nice to be able to call in for advice on licensing vehicles, etc. read more

I would give a negative score, but that's not possible. This is a greedy, worthless group who do very, very little, if anything. They take your money without any notice and without your consent, and they take 50% more than they are legally entitled to take to see whether they can get away with it. They have more of my money sitting in their accounts "in case they need it for postage". In the past 4 years, I have received one (1) piece of mail, but they have me paying as much as anyone else which is why there are reviews here by others happy to be paying so little. A scam? For me, they have continually increased their fees while doing nothing. I worked with this company in 2010 for several years before returning to them 4 years ago when my agent quit the business. There is a bit of mail sorting to do at their offices, and when you are lucky to have a customer who gets no mail for years, you are doing nothing. Stear clear of these people. I opened up an mail box account with them. My mail would be sent to them, they would contact me by email and they would scan/email or mail it on to me at my choice. Well they never did contact me and after several months I had a pile of unopened mail. I finally contacted them and it took 3 weeks for them to mail it on to me after numerous calls and emails. I called the general manager many times and emailed him with NEVER a reply. They did return my money but created all sorts of problems with cancelled medical insurance policies.
