Met with friends, everyone's tastes were met. Wait staff was friendly, accomodating and efficient without being pushy. I had mussels and despite there being a few more duds than there should have been they were excellent. The broth was good and tasty. Drinks were good. Certainly would go there again. read more

Absolutely love the food at this place. It's always delicious and has great portion sizes. While the prices are high (and buying your sides for your sandwiches is not my favorite) the food never disappoints. Had a family member in the hospital and we needed a break and something besides hospital food. I ordered the kickin tenderloin. Great tenderloin. Burnt hard bacon wasn't so great, burnt jalepenos not great either, but the tenderloin itself was great. It's the only reason I give this 3 stars. The service was slow and inattentive. Big disappointment. Got there on a Friday night around 7PM. Plenty of booths and tables open but my husband and I were seated at a high top two seater right next to the waitress station. There should not be a table in that location. Not only did we get to hear all the complaints from the waiters/waitresses but periodically my husband would get bumped by one of them walking by. At one time there were six waitresses crammed at this station with my husband feeling like he was in their way. Ridiculous. Food arrived in a timely fashion but our sandwiches and fries/tator tots were all cold. $40.00 for awful seating, bad atmosphere and cold food.... nope...we will not be going back. This place is so different than any other place in CR. I ordered their steam pot with mussels and lobster, which is basically the highlight of their menu. They give you peanuts to snack on while waiting. The steam pot was absolutely amazing and 100 times better than those pre-made, skimpy red lobster steam pots. There was also plenty to take home as well! I was impressed by the freshness of the seafood, as CR is not quite known for fresh seafood and the pricing was great. The service was great and fast. I am definitely coming back. The only suggestion I would have is to expand on the steam pot concept by offering different flavors. When I went to steam pot places on the east and west coast, there were options like cajun, lemon garlic, etc. I am telling all my friends to come here! read more

We were in over the weekend. We waited 35 minutes just to get two appetizers. My daughter paid with her debit card and I left a cash tip on the table. When my daughter checked her account she was charged for the meal and they had added a tip to the amount even though one had been left. read more

The best I can give these folks is "they will serve you food in a timely fashion." Service was fine, just all the food we got at lunch was thoroughly mediocre. The smothered chicken I got was woefully undercooked, the shrimp po boy had terrible proportions and was quite bland. Mac and cheese was rubbery, coleslaw was basically unseasoned. Definitely one of the best seafood places in town. Tried numerous items on the menu, everything has been wonderful. Highly recommend the Oil Spill, fries covered with cheese and pot roast. My favorite thing on the menu has to be the steam pot. The corn does get mushy, but everything else is cooked to perfection. And I love wearing the bib while I eat :-). This place was great, was there about a month ago and was amazed at the food quality, price and service. The only rub here is that the sprite in my cocktail was flat as was the replacement. I live near this place, and my husband and I go there at least a couple times a month. The seafood boils are a fun change of pace, and the tenderloins and boneless wings are also a hit with my family. We like the tater tots side option. I get something different every time because I like to try everything! Best cocktail menu in town, and the bartenders make them strong! Servers are always friendly and willing to change TVs if there's something we want to see, so we tend to visit when there's a game we don't get at our house. I'm new to the area and found Daisy's Garage with coworkers. They have a very good selection of beers - on tap, cans, bottles - and many of them are Iowa craft beers. The food has been delicious every time - including great southern-inspired spicy dishes, smiley fries, good fish tacos, and killer nachos. All come in large portions, even the free peanuts. Everything is fairly priced and well worth it. The only drawback is the strange lean toward college life with racks of Fireball "whiskey" for no real reason. Was excited to try new location and the fact they offer breakfast until early afternoon so I can get breakfast and husband lunch. The first impression is the over powering smell from the spray they clean tables with. I believe a restaurant can still be clean/spotless without smelling chemicals. Initially service was great menus, drinks and ordered within ten minutes of sitting. Then the wait started. We waited over 45 min for a cheese burger and breakfast (eggs, bacon, hash browns and 1 pancake). Finally when food arrived it was burnt! My husbands medium burger was charred on one side. I requested crispy hash browns, which must equated to burn them-they were mushy and black on top. The bacon was also over cooked. The waitress came back out and said they were going to give me 2 pancakes instead of the one I ordered and asked if I wanted it boxed to go. At this point I told her to forget the pancake and asked for the check. While waiting for our food not once were soda or water refills given. One would think if you know food is taking awhile, at least provide service during the wait and check in with guest. Our check arrived and I was still charged for the pancake I said I no longer wanted. The waitress did ask if I wanted to speak to the manager, which I declined because I don't feel it would change anything. In addition if there was a manager onsite why weren't they checking in with guest and apologizing for the delay. We ate here a number of times last spring and were always so pleased with the service that we once called over the manager to commend her and her staff. Tonight however, we were very dissatisfied . When we entered we were asked if we wanted to sit in the bar or restaurant area. We were not told there was outside seating. The restaurant was freezing. We ordered and waited an exorbitant amount of time for our food. During that wait, family friends came in and told us they were going to go grab a seat outside. They did so. When we next saw our waitress we told her we'd like to move outside. She told us there were no tables. I went out and looked and there were in fact several empty tables. I came back in and told her we had found one and that we'd like to go outside. Then another waitress interrupted us and said those were all for people on a wait list in the bar. Our friends were not on a wait list when they immediately entered and sat outside. I suspect that the outside waitresses did not have the capacity to take anymore customers. But rather than say that, the staff was rude and gave us a nonsensical answer. After 20-30 minutes, my husband was finally served and I was told mine food was still being prepared. We waited another several minutes before I was served. I don't know if management has changed but we are very disappointed. read more

We arrived early afternoon on a Sunday and were initially the only customers . We ordered bloody Mary's and watched for five minutes while the bed headed bartender did everything but make our drinks. When we asked for 2 waters with a lemon, we got one water with no lemon. In addition, they ran out of the peanuts normally found on the table. This seems to be an employee hangout and we were shocked when a group came in drinking beer then went behind the counter to begin their shift..Staffs phones were going off, they were talking loud and inappropriately and the person who presented as a possible owner(blonde-gal in skintight shorts and wedges ) got a spanking from another employee. Food was decent. We had the seafood pot. The sausage was over cooked and the crab legs discolored. Shrimp was good. The doors were filthy and the back hall was in disarray. My guess is this place won't be around as is next year. read more

First time at Daisy's Grill.....omg it was awesome! Tried the BLT with a fried egg..SO GOOD. The tots were fantastic too! Onion Rings.....un-be-lieve- able!!!! Our server forgot to bring ours out before our food but that's ok, we got to take them home!!! The hubby says " best Reuben he's had in forever!" I hate having to write this review since the manager did take the lobster and crawfish off the bill but yelp people and maybe even the health department need to know!! First time trying Daisys garage definitely won't be back! Ordered the steam pot added a whole lobster and pound of crawfish - we asked server if any of it was frozen and was told the crawfish crab and lobster were frozen so we didn't have high expectations... I was craving seafood and we go to red lobster a lot so decided to give this place a shot since there are no other options in this area for seafood.... steam pot was served initial appearance looked great even took a pic - hubby broke the tail off the lobster to find the inside ice cold somewhat frozen also it only had one claw! So immediately called the server who took the lobster and it's one claw off the table and said it would be taken care of... so we continued to eat crawfish which were rubbery which we expected but the taste was horrible. I can still taste it an hour after we ate while I'm writing this review at home... potatoes were ok not great - corn, sausage, and toast were good. Crab was pretty good as well.... so here comes the server with the same lobster head broke off and this time his other claw miraculously appeared! So basically put the lobster he broke open and stuck his finger in back in the main pot!! So obviously I called the manager over explained the situation and gave him our opinion on the rest of the steam pot... like I said initially he did remove the lobster and craw fish from the bill which we appreciated but will not be back. read more

Second time around here. This place is odd. I like the vibe, kind of a lot. It could be a great hang-out. We came for lunch, and supposedly one of our party had called ahead and arranged for a space for us. We were told on arrival: no reservations. Fine, that's cool, but don't tell us you can accommodate us on the phone. Had wings. Mediocre at best. Boring buffalo sauce (no kick, no tang), boring wings (seemed low quality, dry, were they even fried?) and boring bleu cheese sauce (no tang, no umami/glutamate cheese addictionness...). Last time I got the Habañero wings, which were so breaded they were sweet and were not spicy. I feel like they really need to step their game up. I don't feel like going back. read more

I used to go to the butcher block often, now it's "daisys garage". I can't tell you how their food is because I didn't eat. I wanted to but the guy at the bar never acknowledged I was there. Granted he said it was his second day. All things considered, he was having a casual conversation with a lady at the bar. I sat there for probably ten minutes until the lady wwhom he was conversing with said " I think this guy needs a beer". He then acted as if I was burdening him, gave me a menu and continued to flirt with the older lady. I've worked in a lot of restaurants, even managed some. This is common sense. You greet a person when they sit, get a drink to them within a minute or two. It was annoying and I will not be going back. read more
