Loved it. Had dined there a few years ago while traveling in the area. Had the opportunity to stop in yesterday. Soup of the day was Chicken and dumplings with cornbread or grilled toast. Comes with trip to the salad bar or 2 sides. Wonderful meal, not over salted, fresh fixings on the salad bar. My best compliment is friendly waitstaff and the cleanest restaurant in the area. Living in and traveling around Texas has many culinary rewards. I have enjoyed culinary delights in the larger cities like Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio but there is some good eatin' in diners and cafes in many of the smaller country towns. Whilst in the town of Riverside, TX (population 510), I decided to try out Daisy's Diner and Bakery. Indeed, I was not disappointed. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, fried okra, corn and a tall glass of sweet iced tea. The chicken was well seasoned with a very flavorful batter. The okra was undoubtedly fresh and not hidden by a thick bland batter and the whole kernel corn was very good but I forgot to put some butter on it. I will be returning to Daisy's on a Friday when they have fried catfish, which I've told is very good read more

LOVE this place! Me and my bf order from here all the time and every time it is just good down south home cooked food. Big portions, huge selection, great prices! And for us, 4 mins away, so perfect! I won't go on and on but I can tell you, we have eaten here several times and not one time did I come away disappointed in the quality, quantity or whining about the service. Excellent food! We had fried jalapeños and mushrooms for an appetizer. I had fried catfish, fried okra and hush puppies. Oh my, the hush puppies are awesome! Service is very good. The food comes out a little slow, but it's really tasty. This place had big shoes to fill when it replaced "A Little Pizza Heaven" and has done so. The chicken fried steak is so good it makes you want to hit some one in the mouth. read more

My husband and I had a great lunch here! My husband had a tenderloin sandwich with mustard and pickles, he loved it. I had cheese quesadilla with corn chips. This place was surprisingly good. The salad bar was a little lackluster, but I didn't have troubles hobbling together a reasonable salad, neither did my mom. My sister had the BLT. She loved it. It was large, and had real mayo, but she liked it anyway. My mom and I both had catfish. It was tender and good, not muddy-tasting. The tartar sauce was really light. I liked it. Also, the hush puppies were fantastic! Fluffy and crispy on the outside, quite light. However, two were burned. The rest were perfect. I would go again. While traveling through the area me and my uncle stopped at this diner. It was charming and the staff was very friendly. We were happy to see it was Karaoke night. I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings my uncle got the steak sandwich. I took a bite of my cheeseburger and it tasted funny. I thought it was the toppings so I took those off and took another bite. It still didn't taste very well. So I didn't eat it. Karaoke was very fun. After I got home I got violently ill. I think something on the cheeseburger was bad. My uncle got diarrhea but not sick like I did. I wouldn't go back to eat but maybe if in the area I would check out the karaoke again. read more
