8/4/26 Newly opened Daiso at the TAWA Gateway in San Gabriel right across the Hilton. Staff are welcoming & friendly, it's bright and airy, items are neatly arranged, prices starting from $2.25. Great many selection of household, art supplies & for hobbies, plus snacks like sweets & savory snacks, plus beverages, Many times, you never know that you needed it until you see it and say, "where has this been all my life!" LoL. It comical but it's true. If you have a really good imagination you could create cute & very useful hacks. For this visit, I was just browsing & getting a lay of the land. In the past, I've come across items that surprised me. One time I came across an employee returning an item on its shelf when it caught my eye, an ice pack-- the kind that that you fill with ice cubes and you may place it for your head or any achy part of your body like your ankle or foot. Shopping in San Gabriel, California... I saw photos of yellow Line Friends characters from Ken K. and Irene M. and had to go look at those plushies at Daiso! Why are Cony (bunny), Brown (bear), and Choco (Brown's sister) yellow in color? Because rascal Sally (the chicken) is playing around! These are really cute in person... I justified buying the Cony pillow for my back pain. As for the other purchases... well... Honolulu and Pearl City won't get them for a while and when they do, they'll be sold out by the time I get to the store! I was just going to get those items when I thought that I should take a look around the store. I had free parking in the shared lot. The store was clean and spacious! I walked quickly through the pet supplies, dishes, kitchen gadgets, and office items. I got some BT21 stickers and lucky red envelopes! That's enough! Some items were more than $1.75 each! Haha! We really like this day so, they just seem to have a little bit more items/variety. Even though they may not have a lot of quantity, we always seem to find what we are looking for. Whenever we have questions, the staff is always friendly and willing to give us a hand in locating whatever we need. I do appreciate them having the self check out option, it kept the line moving relatively quick. The benefit of this location is there's plenty of underground parking and the elevator comes up right by the store. We always tend to buy more than what we plan, so we're happy that we don't have to actually spend too much on all the toys and snacks as well. read more

If you're on Daiso TikTok and you see the latest licensed character products go viral, this should be your first stop. Value What used to be a Japanese "Dollar" store, it's still reasonably priced for the items with the price increase for everything nowadays. There are some "premium" selection that will cost more than $1.75 (as marked). There are tons of conversion/price charts throughout the store. I mean you shouldn't expect much for something at this price. Parking Unless I really crave something or need to purchase items from Daiso, I don't really like coming to this plaza. There are few lucky times I get quick parking. I rarely see the parking filled to the brim unless it's like a holiday or early Sunday for the dimsum patrons. Their mall entrance was closed; use the almost hidden exterior front entrance. Neat and organized. Plenty of mall parking. Open 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm, and on Sundays from 10am to 8pm. One of the nicer Daisos that we have visited, this Daiso is located inside San Gabriel Square. Because the mall is so empty, there is a lot of available parking for Daiso customers. We needed to kill some time before our dinner, so ended up slowly walking each aisle, picking up many things with the thought "We need that!" I guess we will see... read more

This is one of the bigger Daiso that I have been to. It's in the same plaza as the 99 Ranch Market across from the Hawaii Supermarket. This is one of the better and bigger Daiso stores in the area. Bigger than the Daiso in Sawtelle Japantown. Almost, if not as big, as the Daiso in Little Tokyo, Gardena, or Hacienda Heights. The product variety is more, there seems to be more aisles. And this particular one, before Halloween, had so many Halloween decorations. There seems to be more Disney-related and Tokidoki-related than other ones. This is a good Daiso to stop by. Also, free parking, and if you have a plug-in EV car, there's EV charging stations nearby the 99 Ranch Market. Or are those just for Tesla cars? I have no idea. 3 years later and this is still a great Daiso location. Lots of cute and neat items stacked all the way up to the ceiling. I found a bunch of cute goodies here that I did not see at other locations (the monster room socks are so my style) and they were also pretty well stocked on the Sanrio & San-X collab items that have been pretty scarce at other locations. However, what really shone through was the excellent customer service from Frank & Mandy. I was literally scouring every single Daiso I could to find an item and outside of an employee at another store telling me that they would let their manager know to order more, I did not get that much help. Here, I was given the bar code, the contact information for the other SoCal Daiso locations, and staff even went out of their way to call the other Daiso locations in the area to help me see if my item was in stock. This review is about both Daiso and the square it resides in. Daiso, itself, is great just like a Japanese style Dollar-store. The only thing is inflation affects everything; Daiso used to be mostly 1 dollar, but now many things cost way more than a dollar. Many things also do not belong in Daiso as they are more expensive than other places. If you do come to Daiso, remember why you come here for cheaper daily items and stick to the dollar items. Many of the "grocery" style types of things are much better bought and merchandized elsewhere both in terms of price and stock. Most importantly is to inform you all that Daiso may be relocated; the square that hosts Daiso is under huge construction and may be closed soon due to reconstruction. It is sad to see this as this used to be my go-to place for Taiwanese-style breakfast but it is what it is. read more

Yes, I will admit it... I like going in Daiso stores. And no, I'm not really into cutesy stationery or keychains that look like Nigiri sushi. The fact that everything is a buck-fifty, The eclectic, pragmatic, and hysterical stuff that lines the shelves, and (don't tell anyone) but the fact they carry Japanese fishing gear means I always can do a couple laps in a Daiso store and fill a basket with stuff I don't need. This particular store is located in a big overdetermined strip mall, How long a section of Valley Boulevard that is filled with overdetermined strip malls. Seriously, I think there's like 60 or 70 different retail establishments in this place, and every time I go, at least one or two of them have changed. You could build an entire yelp career out of just visit in the same parking lot every couple of weeks. And maybe it's this juxtaposition to all these other stores that makes this one so special. I like the Arcadia and Temple city stores, this one sort of blends in to its background, The way a single Coral blends into the entire reef. It's beautiful unto itself, but somehow in a synergistic sort of way, made it even better by all the things around it. On my last visit, I swiped a whole bunch of Pyrex glass, some small lures, and a small plastic lunchbox with poor English translation. I also bought some grass jelly drink, which is decidedly not Japanese, but I still enjoy. Every Daiso store sort of has its own personality, and this one is no exception. Sure, they were closing at 4o'clock to do inventory, betrayed only buy a small hand written cardboard sign on the window, but definitely worth the drive down Valley Boulevard to go give it a look. read more

The good: Daiso Japan is like a Japanese Family Dollar. They have super unique items here like little chair socks that look like cat feet. There are so many interesting finds here. I saw a cat mat that has little spikes that prevents your cat from going toward an area you don't want. There are also a lot of cute goodie bags that are great for parties. I purchased some arm sleeve protectors (to protect you from sun), chopsticks, mixing bowl, acai flavored Hi-Chew and a dog toy. It's a great spot to get kitchen gear and doo dads. The bad: The line moved pretty slowly because there were only two cashiers. Some of the items are $1.50 but many of the items cost more. There were several items that I chose that I didn't know were priced higher until I got to the register. The interesting: They sell popsicles and snacks here as well. read more

Daiso to me is what Target is to millennial women. I almost always walk out with shit I didn't come for. This isn't the largest Daiso I've been to but it has huge selection. As far as a "same-price for everything" discount store goes, the Daiso chain is more interesting than most. It has a small but fun dry & packaged food section, a wide variety of dishes and containers, and an excellent though limited stationary section. Every item here is around $1.50 each (unless otherwise marked). My daughter like the make-up and hair section. This particular Daiso is good because it is in a Chinese themed outdoor shopping mall with a great Asian grocery super-store, and lots of fantastic restaurants. (Pre-COVID-19 review) This Daiso location is a bit smaller than other Daiso locations that I have been to, but one can find everything they are looking for here. Though the store may be on the smaller end, the shelves are filled to the brim with items. Everything is $1.50, unless they are marked with a different price tag. Sometimes you'll come out having purchased more items than you wanted to because there are many neat knick-knacks and most are at a great price. Overall, customer service is not bad and if you need help locating an item, there are workers throughout the store stocking the shelves. They have a lot of different kinds of Japanese snacks and including the drinks that I really enjoy buying them that aren't so expensive! The store is really clean, big, and the people who are working there are very nice as well. Hello new favorite Daiso! This Daiso opened a couple of months ago in the San Gabriel Square Plaza (where 99 Ranch is). It is really big and clean compared to the the Monterey Park one! It also looks much more organized! And even has larger aisles to walk through! As usual, Daiso has a bunch of unnecessary-but necessary stuff. It's hard to leave this place without at least a bag in your hand. Everything is $1.50...unless marked otherwise (but that is really rare). Need to kitchenware? Go to Daiso. Need school supplies? Go to Daiso. Need cheap beauty supplies? Go to Daiso. Need socks? Go to Daiso. Need a hat? Go to Daiso. Need bathroom supplies? Go to Daiso. Need a wallet? Go to Daiso. Need a new kitchen sink? Don't go to Daiso because they don't have that. But seriously...go knock yourself out! This new location is going to be my go-to location from now on!
