I realized I needed to return to the store the next day to "re-shop" my choices. Next day I go to store. At this point I am told I cannot exchange, return or get a store credit. No one ever told me that this was the case. Not when I first purchased. Not when I called. There is no sign that states this policy. So basically, I made a $200 donation. Transparency regarding store policies is a must. So much for doing business with local, small businesses. Cannot support the small businesses that are not doing ethical business. Small businesses work hard for every client. You would think as hard as it is the customer would be valued and treated honestly.

I try and think of it as free money to spend, even though I know deep down that I spent a lot to get that Kohl's cash. I had never shopped at this location before. After going to 2 different locations last week looking for dress shirts and ties for hubby, we wanted to seek out a new location. First, I had a really hard time finding the dressing room to try on a few things. They need better signage so you can find it! Then, half of the dressing rooms were closed off! What could prompt a plain room to be "out of order"? It's not like there are plumbing issues. I also recommend that they install more hooks inside the dressing rooms. I like to hang things that I plan to buy on one hook and things I'm not buying on another hook. That's in addition to the initial hook I used when I arrived. That way, it's easy to exit and put the items in the correct place. I've even been to some stores that have fun with it by placing a sign by the hook - "coming home with me", "didn't work", etc. There didn't seem to be as much stock as the other stores I had been to recently. Hubby found a pair of tennis shoes and I found a Croft & Barrow sleeveless top. I usually have to do an alteration to the arm hole openings because they make them so huge. I tried on the top inside out so I could see if I could alter it. I could and I did. I still had to pay on top of the Kohl's cash since the two items were full price.

Customer service said they fulfill them in the order they receive them however the order I sent after that one I already got not really sure what's going on, but it's going on 10 days now of the order not being filled. Sizing is off a little bit, but I'm hoping for better results however they're fulfillment and shipping seems to have delays and maybe customer service doesn't really know what's going on with the order.

Now, when I go to shop, she calls me by name and starts pulling things off the rack to show me. She's persuaded me to try on things I would never have chosen myself, but they look good. She was an older white woman with short hair. When my sister and I walked in, she didn't greet us. Instead, she looked us up and down and walked away. We immediately felt disrespected, but we decided to continue browsing and see what the store had to offer. After a while, one of the other employees did eventually ask how I was doing, which I appreciated. However, the initial interaction really left a lasting impression. I had heard other women of color share similar experiences at this store, which was actually one of the reasons it took me so long to shop here in the first place. Unfortunately, my experience seemed to confirm the concerns I had heard from others. It's disappointing because the store itself is beautiful and has such a great selection, but the way we were treated made the experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
