A few minutes later the food came out, and let me tell you - I was blown away by the flavor and quality. Perfect maillard reaction on the burger (which I believe is of the "smashed" variety), excellently caramelized onions and mushrooms, as well as a decent cheese. EASILY the best fast food burger I've had in the past decade. If I had to compare the flavor, I'd say it's as if Five Guys and Smashburger collaborated to make something actually decent. My yearly stop here never, ever disappoints. The same owner ~30 years and now under his son, has kept a high standard of fresh food, a sure clean environment and friendly, dedicated staff. Walking into this Roy Rogers is not like walking into any other franchise - it's still real Americana - the staff is friendly, country music is playing on the speaker, westerns on the TV monitor and everyone is speaking English; something really nice to experience again as we lose more and more of who we were.
