This branch is located in the ShopRite mall off route 37 in Toms River. They are taking all the precautions for the virus. There are also places to eat outside when the weather is conducive. I really enjoyed the squash soup and a grilled cheese sandwich that I had the other day for lunch. I was mildly surprised at the taste. Decided to give this place another try and to no surprise at all it was still terrible. I'm not sure why Panera hasn't fired this terrible manager, Sean. I ordered a sandwich with specific instructions due to an allergy. The sandwich was wrong when I went to return it all they did was wipe away the aioli, the ingredient I said I was allergic to. I went back again showing them that the allergen was clearly still present and the manager told me that he would not take it back a second time. I was told that when I ordered it I was not specific. After this experience of now almost risking my life, since stating an allergy is not a concern, I will not be back and I will be reporting them to corporate and the better business bureau. I suggest if you are from this Toms River area to go to Brick which is only 12 min away. read more

The place is clean but I think they could make it a bit covid safer for picking up your food. You have to walk down this small hallway to a pickup counter where everyone is waiting for their for to. Panera Bread has it's name in my book as the best bread I have ever had. It's my go to when I need a loaf, and now it's my go to for a hot sandwich. First off, the smell in the restaurant is amazing. It smells like a real bakery, because it is one. The restaurant is huge and the tables are socially distanced and I respect that. So my order was the a whole Smokehouse BBQ Chicken Sandwich on tomato basil bread with a cup of creamy tomato soup. This meal was phenomenal! The tomato soup had a very strong tomato taste and it matched it's title perfectly from it's creamy consistency! The cup of soup was topped off with about 5 crispy croutons and that added a little crunch, making the soup even better! They also gave me a small piece of bread to dip into the soup, and that addition was magnificent! I even burnt the top of my mouth a little bit, but I made a fast recovery. Now the sandwich was a masterpiece. There was a perfect distribution between everything! It was loaded with sweet BBQ sauce and delicious crunchy frizzled onions! The pulled chicken, cheese, and red onions all bonded well with the other toppings in my mouth to create an outstanding sandwich! The tomato basil bread was out of this world with it's crunchiness and significant tomato taste! Overall, this meal was so enjoyable and I can't wait to be back!!! read more

Order up front with the racks of breads tempting you behind the cashier. The quality is solid, if uninspired. The staff is friendly and willing to help with an "off menu" request. Their oatmeal is decent, and the bagels are round. My Everything Bagel was freshly baked and had the right taste, although the surface texture was not as firm as I prefer. Good coffee. All in all, not a bad place to take a break or have a small business meeting. Apparently, there is a drive thru, but I did not see it. read more

The drive-thru is always painfully slow, which wouldn't be an issue if they at least got the orders correct. I've come here quite a few times and generally never had a problem when I go inside. Sometimes, I'm in a rush or just don't want to have to find parking so I'll take my chances at the drive-thru. After my most recent experience, I probably won't be back unless I can get in. I went to the drive thru around 8:10 in the morning, I had to be at work for 9 and it's a 25 min drive so I figured I'd have enough time if the line was slow. I waited 18 minutes and then finally paid and left. I ordered an iced tea and a breakfast sandwich with no meat (I'm a vegetarian). I pull away, rushing to get on the parkway to get to work. Upon arriving, I find that I received a ham, egg, & cheese. At this point, I obviously couldn't turn around and go back. The iced tea had a hair in it, which was disgusting. I spent $7 to be disappointed when I could've been disappointed for free by the meaninglessness of life?? Beware of this place, I'd recommend going inside if you can. read more

I was going with a 3 bald head and star rating but allow me to explain. My review will be worth the read. Here it goes. My daughter volunteers at the hospital and she text message me to bring her Panera bread lunch. So I went to the drive-through and proceeded to order her and I lunch. The gentleman handling the drive-through intercom constantly talked over me and kept interrupting while I was trying to finish my order. It was actually so annoying because he had a condescending lisp obnoxious voice. So after trying to finish my order at least three times I decided just to conclude with what I already ordered for my daughter so I could get her her lunch on time at the hospital. Next I proceeded to the window to pick up her food and pay. The gentleman who was running the intercom and window seemed like he thought he was running air traffic control. When I handed him a $20 bill his fat fingers could not grab it because his mouth was still speaking and it dropped in the snow. (It's snowing today). I couldn't reach it with the room I had to open the door, so I had to pull up get out of my truck and walk back to the window to pay the bill. I was going to immediately write a review and I decided not to because I was in a non-hurting mood LOL. But now for part 2. Being I never finished the order in the first place after dropping my daughter's lunch off at the hospital I decided to go back and I would go inside and eat at a table and order at the counter. I placed my order with a young different gentleman and everything went smooth. I sat down and proceeded to eat my steak panini and after eating a half I looked on the plate and there was a 14 inch black hair that was as thick as a tenpenny nail. I went up and got a refund for my steak sandwich and tried to go back to my table and eat my mac & cheese but I just couldn't stomach it. There it is. Happy new year. I allowed the first strike, but after the second I thought the review could maybe help management. I can deal with the gentleman but not with the hair. read more

Because of Kerry's review I had high expectations for this location but it was just ok. The staff were not that friendly certainly not the best anywhere. Hope I was there on an off day but I interacted with three employees and none were especially customer service oriented. One didn't tell me about a promotion that would have saved me money and instead just charged me full price. Even after questioning her she didn't tell me. The portions are small. The positives are the food is tasty, the atmosphere and decor are good and the place is clean. The challenges are that the prices are high, the men's room bathroom has a faulty lock on the stall door, the employees aren't that interested, and parking is tricky with four restaurants in a row and a parking lot for those that is too busy. I know because as a frequent traveler, I frequent Panera Bread across the U.S. What makes this particular location stand out is the professional friendliness of staff. But one person in particular REALLY stands out-- - a young woman named a Molly -- she is the hardest working Panera employee I have ever seen in all the Store's I have frequented. She leads by example. So diligent and product-knowledgeable, I thought she was the store manager. I was shocked to learn she was not. Molly helps make this location the very best. The quality of the Management at this location is second to none. Like the day shift Manager, Jacque, Very customer-serviced based and on top of everything involving the store. I have been to Panera's where not one worker is friendly, does not bring you your food, clean up after you and actually care about your meal. This Panera does!!!! All thanks to Ms. Debbie- she is an extraordinary worker, compassionate, always bringing me my food with everything and anything I need, is on top of absolutely everything, never gets overwhelmed.
