This place is a classic DQ. I feel like it has been here since I was a small child. This was the place to go after a long day at the beach when you wanted a treat before going home. I also used to live near here, close enough to walk to and did walk here a few times. I love a good DQ. I am happy to see they brought back all of their dip flavors and introduced new ones. I tried the mint cookie crunch, it was delicious. I love their blizzards the most, that is what I typically order. I like the ones with the pie pieces during the fall. We also like that they typically have a no sugar added Dilly bar, not sure if that is still available this year since I got a cone. There are four DQ's in my general area, and this is on my top two (two of them I have never been). The only issue with this place is the parking. It is a tiny, dangerous, awkward lot with only a few spaces. But this is a place I will return to during the ice cream stand season. read more

Bad experience! I have celiac and asked them to clean off the blizzard blender really quick (I've worked at multiple Dairy Queens before, I know this is possible) and a man (I'm guessing the manager) said "We don't do any of that allergy stuff here." Whatever, that's fine, I said I just wanted a sundae with strawberry, which he said he couldn't do because it was right by the nuts. What??? I didn't say anything about nuts!! I tried explaining and he was very short with me and said I had to get it plan so I gave up and said that's fine. Recently relocating from Palm Springs, CA to Keego Harbor we were wanting some ice cream. This place was so much fun! Walk up windows to order/pickup and everyone was visiting with each other while waiting on their order, great outdoor ambiance. The turn around time was about 10 minutes as it was very busy on a Wednesday evening. There is outside seating but no indoor seating. It brings you back to the simple, old fashioned ice cream times. It's within walking distance so we will definitely be back. read more

Classic Dairy Queen! No extra thrills other than blizzards and other sweet treats. Online ordering isn't supported by this location and they aren't able to scan your app for points. Parking is pretty tight and it is better to try your luck for parking on the left side of the building. Walk up window for orders on the right and your order comes out to the left. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Ice cream came out quick and was delicious. Not many areas to sit other than a bench or two to the left of building. The ice cream and blizzards are the stars and this location is a call back to DQ nostalgia. read more

I've been coming to this location for 10+ years. It's always had the same problem, the blizzards are always half melted when the are served. It's been mentioned in multiple reviews. This is the only Dairy Queen that doesn't do the blizzard turn because the ice cream would fall out. Other than that the blizzard is good for the first bite or two before it turns to soup. read more

This Dairy Queen is a Keego Harbor institution that seems like it has been here forever. It is located on Orchard lake road providing easy access to it if you are in the Keego/Sylvan area. Their soft serve ice cream serves as the base for the many deserts that they make at this chain where this particular store has always had a fairly efficient operation at taking your order and getting your deserts to you quickly, even with the long lines that this business typically sees on summer nights and weekends. Speaking as a long time customer of this store I used to take my wife here when we were dating, then take my kids here when the were growing up and now I am taking my grand kids here which gives me a strong sense of nostalgia about this business. Long time residents in this area have a strong appreciation for this store and its history and look forward every spring to it opening after a long cold winter. read more

Fast service, but came here specifically for a birthday cake blizzard for my birthday. Event told them it was my birthday. The blizzard typically come with cake in it. They just mixed up vanilla ice cream and sprinkles. Then topped it off with whip cream. I was very disappointed. If they told me they couldn't make it I would have ordered something else. read more

Worst Dairy Queen around. I called at 8:48 12 minutes before closing, and was going to order a curb side pick up. My first call got ignored but rang all the way through the other 3 got declined until 8:54, that's when an employee answered the phone to inform me They can't accept a curb side pick up 5 minutes before closing he then asked if wanted to speak to a manager since I told him I had been calling for 6 minutes I said yes and he told me to "hold" which the phone wasn't even on mute or hold and I heard everything rude thing they said, and heard them complain about the 7 people at the window about how they were soooo busy. ( I've worked at 2 Dairy Queen and other ice cream places and 7 people in line is COMPLETELY manageable and not busy for keego harbor Dairy, since their line is sometimes to the road) Once I explained my situation to the manager hailey, all she had to say about it was "I'm sorry"? Okay so now you're closed won't sell me 2 ice cream cones and won't accept my curb side pick up? And no I wasn't coming to the window because YOU offer curb side pick up. All I have to say is that the manager was rude, and the conversation I heard while I was on "hold" was uncalled for and rude. Also not the first time I've heard that same manager complain to one of her employees about how she didn't want to put her hat on to come help them at the window. read more

Before I begin, let me say that I have truly enjoyed this DQ, especially since they have kept the good old menu, and didn't lose all of the excellent Blizzard recipes, like the rest of the DQ restaurants around here. With that being said, I purchased Blizzards for my family a few days ago, and my large blizzard cup was well below the top. It felt like I was paying for a large, but was getting a medium. With the Blizzards being over $4 now, that stings a little. Then, today, I went back again. The blizzard was ok, as far as size went. However, it was a cooler than average evening, and I was one of only 3 customers at the window. I was therefore able to see the three gals in the back making my blizzards. I didn't pay too close attention, but can tell you that one of them was bent down, getting something from a shelf / cabinet below the person cutting up the banana for my banana cream pie blizzard. They all seemed to be tripping over each other, and it took them a little longer than I would have thought for them to produce my blizzards. I ordered them to go, and when I got home, began eating it there. I had to throw it out, as there was so very much grit, that I felt I was reliving my Campfire days, after dropping a hot dog in the fire. My stomach is now bothering me. Such a shame, as I really enjoy what this place has to offer. Hygiene is definitely necessary though, and I don't think the gals had it going on tonight. Not sure I'll be back. read more

Let's just start off with in the past few months I have had great experiences, even when my order was forgotten. The girls always were polite and kind. Tonight was the total opposite. When questioning my order of a medium swirl cone I got a bunch of children being sassy. I was told the cone was just squished, I can weigh it for you. I wish I took a picture but my order isn't why I have this location one star. The behavior of these children and how they treat customers is why. During the time when we went they were not busy at all so there was no reason for the sassy responses I have received. After making it clear it was very disrespectful on there behavior the girl who helped us said "not like she needed it" as I walked away. I am speechless on there behavior and I hope they learn to never treat people like the way they treated me. For now I will be taking my business somewhere else. read more

I'm giving this place five stars just because I have yet to be disappointed with anything they have made for me. Granted, I almost always get the same German chocolate blizzard made with chocolate ice cream, with extra coconut and malt, but everyone I've taken up there has been just as pleased with whatever they ordered. This is my favorite Dairy Queen in the Continental U.S. and although I haven't been to all of them (yet), this one is my favorite. They have ice cream here and that's definitely a plus. Free water? Have no fear, they have it here. The next time you're on the lake, be sure to hit this spot up. Ask for a vanilla ice cream and tell them Devon sent you. Fantastic locally-owned Dairy Queen with a local menu, friendly staff, and unique format: this is really a local ice cream "shack" (there's no indoor dining room) that happens to have DQ ice cream. That's a good thing. Local Koegel's hot dogs and "Blue Bird" buns, sloppy joes, and off-menu treats like turtle sundaes, Boston coolers (with fountain Vernors!) and ice cream sodas have been something I've looked forward to since I was little, 30 years ago. Of course the usual soft serve and blizzards are as good as any DQ. Bonus points for having chocolate DQ ice cream. The owners have changed over the years, but the current group is taking care of the property and keeping things just as they've always been -- a great thing, in this case. Pretty much everyone who works in retail or customer service complains about the customers. Most of us have the common sense - or at least the basic intelligence - to wait until the customer is out of earshot to do it, though. Unfortunately, the teenager who took my order this afternoon had neither of those. The product: 5 stars. The service: well, Yelp won't let me give less than 1. If that girl really has such a hard time controlling herself while at work, I'm sure the lovely people at DQ will have no trouble finding someone much more qualified to replace her. read more

I have no problem with the product. My problem is that the person in front of me had a dog and the girl behind the counter called the dog up on the counter and kissed and petted the dog. Then she turned around and made my Blizzard without washing her hands. That is so gross. I like dogs but people serving food shouldn't be touching animals while they are working. read more
